Xia Xiaonuan sat by the bed, her hands intertwined, her mind a chaotic mess.
Just then, the bedroom door opened.
Nangong Yaoling emerged from the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his lower body; seeing Xia Xiaonuan dumbfoundedly sitting there, he slightly furrowed his brows.
Xia Xiaonuan seemed oblivious until Nangong Yaoling came closer, and she felt a wave of heat hitting her, bringing her back to her senses. She looked up at Nangong Yaoling.
Yet he didn’t seem to be looking at her, rather he reached over her to grab a nightgown behind her.
He stood up to head toward the study.
Xia Xiaonuan suddenly stood up and took a step forward, grabbing Nangong Yaoling’s hand with one hand.
Nangong Yaoling’s body stiffened.
"What’s the matter?" He turned his head to look at her, his voice coldly responding.
"You... you... you should sleep in the bedroom tonight." She said cautiously.
The man frowned slightly, about to speak.
Xia Xiaonuan quickly explained: "Um... I... I’ll sleep in the study!"
Nangong Yaoling’s lips twitched involuntarily.
He gazed sharply at Xia Xiaonuan for a few seconds, then stood up, withdrew his hand, and walked toward the door.
Xia Xiaonuan’s heart sank.
Unexpectedly, he reached the door and closed it.
And then turned around and walked back to the bedroom’s bedside.
Xia Xiaonuan excitedly turned to look at him, her face changing, and she quickly turned away.
Nangong Yaoling removed the towel and put on his pajamas.
He flipped onto the bed.
Xia Xiaonuan smiled and dutifully changed clothes, climbing onto the bed.
He closed the bedroom door, which spoke volumes.
What he meant was that both of them should sleep in the bedroom together.
Although Xia Xiaonuan isn’t usually too smart, she does have these small clever moments.
She pressed a smile and climbed beside him on the bed.
As soon as she lay down, the man next to her casually asked, "Weren’t you going to sleep in the study?"
