Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Leaving Harsh Words

Jiang Xinghai didn’t want to cause a bloody incident on campus.

This was merely a warning to his opponent, as well as to the onlookers.

"No way..."

"Yang Zhuo... he actually swallowed the cigarette butt."

"Is that the price for admitting defeat?"

The onlookers nearby were completely dumbfounded.

"That was great, Brother Hai," Shen Lingyin said with a smile as she approached.

Mu Jianni clapped her hands and glared at Yang Zhuo. "You’d better remember Mr. Jiang’s mercy. Otherwise, your fate won’t be as simple as just swallowing a lit cigarette butt."

Right now, Yang Zhuo wanted to cry but had no tears.

Did he want to swallow a cigarette butt?

Of course not!

A lit one, no less!

He wanted to throw it up.

But! ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

He couldn’t.

He only felt a searing, throbbing pain from his mouth to his throat and all the way down his esophagus.

Barring any miracles, it would take him at least half a year to recover, and that was only if he received treatment with Spiritual Medicine.

Otherwise, he would very likely be disabled for the rest of his life.

"If anyone dares to have ill intentions toward Shen Lingyin or Mu Jianni in the future, their fate will be even worse than this bastard’s."

Standing beside the two women, Jiang Xinghai turned to the onlookers. "Of course, if any of you have a problem with this, we can settle it for real off-campus later. I’m more than willing."

With that, he turned and left with Shen Lingyin and Mu Jianni to get something to eat.

CLANG!

The force holding Yang Zhuo vanished, and he collapsed heavily to the ground.

"BLEGH! BLEGH! BLEGH..."

He immediately started trying to vomit, but it was too late.

The cigarette butt had been extinguished by his saliva the moment it entered his esophagus.

But not before it had severely burned him on its way down to his stomach.

"Jiang! Xing! Hai!"

Yang Zhuo couldn’t scream the name, nor did he dare to. The needle-like pain in his throat made him break out in a cold sweat.

He struggled to pull out his phone, quickly typed out a message, and sent it.

「Meanwhile.」

Jiang Xinghai, Shen Lingyin, and Mu Jianni left Central State University in his car.

"Brother Hai, you laid down some pretty serious threats back there. Think anyone will take the bait?" Shen Lingyin giggled.

"If things go as expected, they’ve already taken it."

The moment Jiang Xinghai drove off campus, he could feel a number of malicious gazes on him, like thorns pricking his back.

"Mr. Jiang, in that case, let’s go eat at the Old Tavern."

Mu Jianni pointed to a commercial street next to the university. A three-story, antique-style building stood there, bearing a two-word sign that read "Old Tavern."

"Sounds good. You’re the local, you call the shots." Jiang Xinghai didn’t hesitate to turn onto the street.

Sure enough, as the Land Rover turned onto the commercial street, a van followed right behind them.

The Land Rover came to a stop, and Jiang Xinghai led the two women to the entrance of the Old Tavern.

"Miss, you’ve arrived."

The greeter at the door bowed respectfully.

"From now on, remember these two people with me," Mu Jianni said, stepping forward to introduce them. "This is Mr. Jiang Xinghai, and this is Miss Shen Lingyin. They are to be considered platinum-level honored guests of our Old Tavern, with all their expenses waived for life."

"Mr. Jiang, Miss Shen, please come in." The greeter glanced up at them and immediately bowed again.

Mu Jianni turned back with a smile. "Actually, this is my family’s restaurant. Please, come in."

"Oh, no wonder," Shen Lingyin said with a smile of realization.

Jiang Xinghai nodded with a smile. The greeter’s surprised expression when she first saw Mu Jianni at the entrance had already told him everything.

After the three of them entered, a man in a suit and glasses came over to greet them.

"Cousin, you’re finally here."

"Cousin, let me introduce you to two honored guests."

Mu Jianni stepped forward and took the man’s arm. "This is the Divine Doctor Jiang, Jiang Xinghai. It’s all thanks to him that my father can walk again."

"Divine Doctor Jiang, my name is Liu Fei. Thank you for saving my uncle," the man in glasses said politely, his expression solemn.

"It was nothing," Jiang Xinghai replied with a nod.

Mu Jianni then introduced the other woman. "This is Shen Lingyin, Divine Doctor Jiang’s confidante, and my new bestie, I suppose."

"A pleasure, Miss Shen," Liu Fei said, nodding again.

Shen Lingyin returned the greeting, taking Jiang Xinghai’s arm as she looked around the packed dining hall.

"Cousin, you did keep the best room for us, right? Heaven’s Chamber One?" Mu Jianni asked.

"Of course. It’s always reserved," Liu Fei confirmed with a nod.

"Great! Cousin, go tell the kitchen to send up all of the house specials." Knowing the place like the back of her hand, Mu Jianni began to lead Jiang Xinghai and Shen Lingyin toward the third floor.

Just as the three of them left the main hall, four grim-faced, middle-aged men burst in through the door.

Following them was a bearded man chomping on a cigar.

"Right this way, gentlemen," a waiter greeted them enthusiastically.

The five men said nothing and sat down at a table near the entrance.

"Here is the menu. What can I get for you gentlemen?" the waiter asked with a professional smile, standing to one side.

"Bring us all your house specials. And a case of Maotai."

The bearded man spoke in a low voice, then waved his hand dismissively. "And get your manager over here. Tell him the Yang Family from An City has arrived."
