Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Sacrifice_1

A year ago, in the old city district, the forces of the Bloodhand Gang and the Skull Gang were clashing at a warehouse area in the abandoned docks, with shouts and cries of battle filling the air nonstop.

"Looking for death!!"

Carmela delivered a fierce side kick to the leg of a thug, then grabbed the opponent’s hair and forced his head down, smashing his nose bridge with her knee.

"Everyone, get them! Slaughter these sons of bitches, let them know who runs this place!" Carmela roared excitedly.

As an officer and ace fighter of the Bloodhand Gang, she personally led her subordinates into battle.

Lately, the harassment from the emerging rival gangs had been getting more frequent, constantly sending people to provoke the territories and businesses of the Bloodhand Gang.

Today, she personally led an ambush and finally caught these little rascals.

The Skull Gang had about a dozen people in the raid, whereas the Bloodhand Gang only had five. But with Carmela’s unstoppable assault, the Bloodhand Gang quickly gained the upper hand. The Skull Gang fighters started to concentrate their forces to attack Carmela but were rapidly knocked down one after another, and soon there were only a few who dared to step forward.

Carmela picked up a brick and swept it across a burly man’s jaw, knocking him out cold.

"Isn’t there a single one who can put up a fight? Isn’t there anyone who can make this more enjoyable?" she laughed wildly as she surveyed the remaining thugs.

The thrill of unleashing violence filled her brain, and at that moment she sharply heard a noise behind her; without thinking she twisted around and threw a punch behind her.

The youth attempting to attack her from behind with a bat cried out "Ah" as he covered his ribs and staggered backward, dropping his weapon on the ground. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

"Damn it, it’s you again?"

Carmela violently recognized the youth as the same one who had sneaked into the warehouse she was guarding before.

It was the whiny kid who kept begging for money for his mother’s treatment.

The young man clutched his shoulder and looked at Carmela, his eyes filled with fear.

Carmela, unceremonious, threw a right hook that smashed into the youth’s cheek, immediately causing two bloodied broken teeth to fly out.

The youth was knocked to the ground, the severe pain from his broken teeth nearly blanking out his mind.

"You come back to be cannon fodder after barely escaping with your life; it won’t be unjust if you’re beaten to death!" Carmela picked up the bat from the ground, her face filled with murderous intent as she fixed her gaze on the youth.

The youth immediately gasped for air, scrambling up from the ground and running away as fast as he could.

"Trash!!" Carmela spat disdainfully, tossing the bat aside.

That’s when the sound of hoofbeats approached.

"The cops are here!!" someone shouted first.

The brawlers immediately stopped and turned to look; a squad of mounted police was charging over in a furious rush, with officers firing into the air.

"Run!!" The crowd scattered in all directions like birds and beasts.

"Damn it!" Carmela immediately realized she’d been played and turned to sprint towards a low wall, vaulting over it to make her escape.

Two hours later...

Old city district, Skull Gang stronghold.

"Lucky you guys made it back," said an officer of the Skull Gang, standing in the room and looking at the line of subordinates in front of him.

Two teenagers also stood among them, one with contusions on his face.

"Beaten up by five people, how humiliating! You all look pretty clean, were you just watching the show when the fight happened, huh?" the cadre loudly berated them, "The organization offered a £500 bounty on that tyrant woman, just to land her in the hospital, and you didn’t even want the money right before your eyes?"

The youth with the bruised face silently licked his broken tooth root, for he had taken the dangerous risk of ambushing Camila in hopes of claiming the bounty his gang had placed on her.

"But well, there’s still some gain this time." The cadre’s tone softened suddenly, "Latest news, the mounted police caught Camila, and some of our brothers were captured too, but it’s not a loss. It’s a pity that it’s just a mass brawl, she’ll be out in ten days to half a month. We need to seize this time to grab territory, understand?"

Several more astute underlings tentatively glanced at the cadre and quickly averted their gaze.

They vaguely sensed that the cadre must have arranged for someone to tip off the mounted police in advance.

Lately, the mounted police were trying every means to crack down on the biggest faction in the old city district, the Blood Hand Gang, and Camila, a cadre of the Blood Hand Gang, was also a prime subject of police focus.

While placing a bounty on Camila, the cadre had sent his men to harass the territory under her management, aiming to instigate such a conflict and thereby have the mounted police make the arrests.

In plain terms, these newcomers were merely sacrificial pawns used by the gang to restrain Camila.

The cadre surveyed his subordinates before him, finally resting his gaze on the youth with a bruised face.

"Beili," he called the youth’s name.

"Here!" The youth immediately tensed up, eyes fixed on his toes.

"Among those who returned, you’re the only one who’s hurt. I heard about it, having the courage to ambush that woman, inexperience aside, you’re quite smart," the cadre suddenly patted the young man’s shoulder, voice carrying a hint of praise, "You guys should all learn from him, learn. When it’s time to step up, you turn into turtles with your heads drawn in, what do I keep you for?" frёewebηovel.cѳm

The youth named Beili looked up in shock, unsure of what to say.

"Beaten by that woman, right? The injuries look pretty bad..." the cadre asked with concern.

"I, I’m alright..." Beili nodded timidly.

"Young man, don’t think you’re fine just because you took a few punches. If there’s some internal injury you haven’t noticed, you might die without knowing it," the cadre said kindly, "I know a good doctor, I’ll take you for a checkup later. Today was your first street fight, and you performed quite well."

"Thank, thank you, big brother!" Beili bowed deeply, fearful and grateful.

"You stay here, I have something to say to you alone. The rest of you, go back," the cadre waved his hand, signaling the others to leave.

The youth with scars on his face also left the room with the others. On his way out, he instinctively turned his head for one last glance at the brother left behind in the room.

After the door closed, the room was suddenly left with only Beili, the cadre, and two expressionless bodyguards.

"You indeed didn’t disappoint me, I can see that you’re very loyal to the organization," the cadre placed both hands on the young man’s shoulders, "Seeing your performance today, I’ve decided to promote you. I’ve heard about your situation: your mother is ill and needs a lot of money for treatment, right? I might be able to help you with that."

Beili’s eyes widened with joy, and he bowed again, "Thank you, big brother!!"

"No problem, no problem, happy to help," the cadre laughed heartily, "However, correspondingly, I also have an important task for you. So, Beili, are you willing to make a sacrifice for the organization...?"

"Sacrifice?" The young man sensed something unsettling and looked up.

Seeing the strange smile on the cadre’s face, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.

...

The next day, the teenager’s body was discovered in an alley near his home.
