Chapter 599: Chapter 598 Why Are You Laughing_1
The warden’s office was where Aiden and the Goddess of Revenge sat opposite each other across the dining table, in a staring contest.
The Goddess of Revenge lowered her gaze to the cup that Aiden had given her and frowned, "May I ask what this colorless, tasteless liquid is?"
"The Source of Life." Aiden answered expressionlessly.
"So it’s just plain water?" The Goddess of Revenge glanced at him displeased, "Is this the kind of poor reception I get?"
"The tea had just started brewing, you said you were thirsty, so I poured you some warm water first." Aiden explained, "Don’t waste others’ consideration."
"Hmph." The Goddess of Revenge then downed the water in one gulp, "Alright, what do you want to talk about this time?"
Usually, when Aiden inquired about Mr. Bloodclothes’ movements, it was basically just a few questions at the prison door. Today, he had specifically called her out to sit in the office to talk, which clearly indicated there was an additional topic to discuss.
"I have become a Saint," Aiden went straight to the point, "and the ritual is just one step away."
"Oh, what does that have to do with me?" The Goddess of Revenge said indifferently, "Am I supposed to congratulate you?"
"I want to tell you that some things can finally be addressed. Also, I encountered the ’Existence’s’ ruler, who seems to be acquainted with the Goddess of Intrigue." Aiden said, "He gave me some hints on how to break free from the Goddess of Intrigue’s control." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"You didn’t run into a swindler, did he have identification?" The Goddess of Revenge teased.
"He’s the real deal," Aiden said seriously.
"I was just joking, but if we must be serious, are you sure you want to trust this person? What’s his relationship with that bitch like?" The Goddess of Revenge asked.
"Seems pretty good, they have the same hobby, both deriving pleasure from toying with others’ fates; he even let the Goddess of Intrigue borrow his power." Aiden said.
"Sounds like his advice isn’t very reliable," The Goddess of Revenge assessed, but she did not directly dismiss the advice itself.
"But the ruler wouldn’t set such a trap for me, would he?"
"Indeed, no one uses strategic deception on an insect." The Goddess of Revenge smiled at Aiden, completely disregarding that her own power was as insignificant as an "insect" in her eyes.
"So, I think what he said might have some reference value." Aiden said.
"Let’s hear it, then," The Goddess of Revenge tilted her head.
"First, only a ruler can contend with a ruler’s power. Second, the Goddess of Intrigue once came close to the Throne of Spirit, but in the end, she failed," Aiden briefly stated.
"That’s somewhat interesting," The Goddess of Revenge commented, then fell silent. Aiden knew she was thinking.
"The first is easy to understand, but the second... you’re not talking about that time she dragged me down, are you?" The Goddess of Revenge asked.
"That’s what I think too. In fact, Mr. Bloodclothes’ betrayal was entirely within the Goddess of Intrigue’s expectations," Aiden nodded. "According to her, she intended to take the opportunity to complete the ’revenge’ ritual and also set a test for Mr. Bloodclothes."
"I guess some of it is lies, or at least not the whole truth. Let’s set that aside for now. Based on what you said, does that mean that bitch almost got her hands on the ’Hatred’ authority? But it ended up in my hands..." The Goddess of Revenge pondered. She was silent for a while, then asked, "Is the tea ready?"
Aiden lifted the lid of the teapot and poured a cup of tea for the Goddess of Revenge, and then poured one for himself.
The Goddess of Intrigue almost got the "Hatred" authority, and before Mr. Bloodclothes, the "Hatred" authority was always in the hands of the Goddess of Revenge. This suggests the possibility that the Goddess of Intrigue might have once fought the Goddess of Revenge for the "Hatred" authority, and in the end, it remained with the Goddess of Revenge.
If that was the case, the Goddess of Revenge would be the key figure in the clue that "the Goddess of Intrigue had failed before."
The Goddess of Revenge blew gently on her tea, sipped it, and as she recalled, a smile suddenly appeared on her lips, "Hmph!"
"Did you think of something?" Aiden’s eyes lit up.
"No." The Goddess of Revenge maintained her expression, shaking her head, "Absolutely, I can’t remember a thing."
"Then why are you smiling?" Aiden was taken aback.
"I just thought of something happy." The Goddess of Revenge said.
"What happy thing?" Aiden was confused.
"If this is true, it’s possible that I once defeated that plotting bitch!" The Goddess of Revenge laughed as she spoke.
"I watch you think for so long, and this is the conclusion you come to?" Aiden’s brow furrowed slightly, shaking his head, "How can something without even a confirmation make you so foolishly happy?"
"Mind your words, boy," The Goddess of Revenge glanced at him.
"You’re not just wasting my time on purpose?"
"Can’t help it, I’ve lost all memory from before I became a deity," The Goddess of Revenge spread her hands indifferently, "Not almost all, but truly all of it, not a single clue left."
"That’s not to say there are no clues at all, I think the loss of memory itself is a clue," Aiden took a sip of tea.
"Are you suggesting that I lost my memory due to a fight with that bitch?" The Goddess of Revenge inquired.
"Yes," Aiden nodded. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
This speculation, he had actually had for a while, and he had come to talk to the Goddess of Revenge to explore how plausible this speculation might be, especially since the Goddess of Revenge knew much more about the power of the Throne of Spirit than he did.
"That’s quite possible," The Goddess of Revenge made a face of annoyance, "But just saying so, I still don’t have any leads."
"Then let’s break the problem down a bit more," Aiden could only organize the information himself. "Do you think if you fought the Goddess of Intrigue for the authority, did it happen before you became a deity, or after?"
"Do you think it’s likely that it happened before I became a deity? We’ve already said that a ruler’s power is overwhelmingly strong against mortals," The Goddess of Revenge replied.
"On the contrary, I think this possibility is higher," Aiden presented his view. "Look at the memories you’ve lost, they’re right before you acquired the authority. Could this indicate that as a mortal you managed to wrestle the authority from a ruler at the cost of your memory?"
"The analysis makes some sense, but winning against a ruler at the expense of some memories, isn’t that a bit too optimistic?" The Goddess of Revenge questioned.
"I think it’s not impossible. A ruler’s power is overwhelming against a mortal, provided they exercise their power correctly. If not using full force against a rabbit, at least they should take their opponent seriously," Aiden analyzed. "But the Goddess of Intrigue is different, she’s probably one of the furthest people from ’a sense of crisis’ in this world."
