Chapter 580: Chapter 580: Witnessing Something Incredible_1

The next morning, Aiden and Deborah had breakfast together in the inn’s dining room.

"It was indeed a quiet night," Aiden said, yawning; he had only slept a few hours in the latter half of the night.

"Yes, nothing happened," Deborah absentmindedly pushed the food into her mouth.

It had been an utterly peaceful night; the dual-identity murderer she had been worried about didn’t even show a shadow, and Aiden hadn’t done anything either, only touched her once—when he woke her up to take over the night watch in the latter half of the night.

For some reason, there was always a sense of frustration...

However, seeing Mr. Aiden’s sleeping face could be considered a nice gain, too bad there wasn’t a camera to capture it.

"In about another week, it will be the night of the full moon, and it doesn’t seem likely that the dual-identity murderer is ready to move anytime soon," said Aiden.

"By the night of the full moon, will his target still be me?" Deborah asked with a hint of worry in her voice.

"It’s hard to say, so we need you to keep an eye on the fortunetelling," Aiden replied.

He was now more inclined to believe in that fortunetelling, as it was provided to Deborah by the phantom thief Liv.

He had originally suspected that this thing wasn’t real fortunetelling at all. Now, upon re-examining, this so-called fortunetelling might also be because of some connection between Deborah and the dual-identity murderer.

"Mr. Aiden, are you sure you want to go straight to work? Won’t you be too tired?" Deborah asked with some apology.

She felt guilty for having kept Aiden up to watch over her for half the night, only for nothing to happen in the end.

She thought he should rest a bit, but Aiden insisted on returning to the prison and had already lifted the "substitute" for himself, ready to leave the inn and ride away in a carriage.

"It’s okay; I’ll catch up on sleep at noon," Aiden said, wiping his mouth with a napkin, "It’s about time I left."

"Alright," Deborah finished her last bit of food and also used a napkin to wipe her mouth.

The two walked shoulder to shoulder out of the inn, and Deborah bid farewell to Aiden: "Goodbye, Mr. Aiden, I’ll contact you if there’s any news."

"Hmm, goodbye," Aiden, too, tipped his hat in parting and looked around for a rental carriage. freewēbnoveℓ.com

At that moment, his peripheral vision briefly caught a glimpse of a watching gaze, and he turned his head to look.

The morning sidewalks were bustling with people heading to work, coming and going.

"What’s the matter?" Deborah asked.

"Nothing," Aiden shook his head.

The glance from before didn’t carry the kind of prickly sensation one gets from being watched. Perhaps it was just a passing pedestrian’s gaze; after all, both he and Deborah were quite conspicuous.

Just then, a rental carriage happened to stop nearby to let off a passenger, and Aiden headed straight for it.

Meanwhile, from behind the signboard of a shop in the distance, Isabella, a guard from Rose Iron Prison, hid in relief, patting her chest.

Fortunately, the signboard had been perfectly placed between her and the warden, thereby preventing her from being noticed.

This was near her home, and she took a carriage from this spot to work every day.

Today, just like any other day, she went to work, only to witness a quite extraordinary scene—the warden and Deborah Awen, the woman who had repeatedly delivered flowers to the prison and who had been involved in the rumored affair with him, were coming out of the same hotel!

"At this moment, it’s better to hold back and not spread this around recklessly..." Isabella thought to herself.

Then, time shifted back to the morning, at the Rose Iron Prison.

"That’s exactly what happened!" Isabella said earnestly while staring into Veronica’s eyes, "Because it’s such a serious matter, I hesitated but then decided to tell you first!"

Veronica blinked, stunned, and said, "You, you must have seen wrong, right?"

"Don’t avoid the reality, it’s absolutely true! I saw it with my own two eyes, clear as day!" Isabella asserted confidently.

At that moment, a loud "clatter" of something falling to the floor came from behind Isabella. They both turned their gaze in that direction and saw Fille standing dumbfounded at the nearby bathroom doorway, with the mop she had been holding now dropped to the ground.

"Aiden, with that woman, they got a hotel room?" Fille asked, her eyes wide open, her face full of disbelief, "How could he do such a thing?"

"What are you doing here?" Isabella looked at Fille with startled suspicion.

"She got punished for spreading rumors a few days ago and had to clean the toilets during her free time," Veronica explained, "I was watching her work outside, forgot to tell you."

"Big sis, why are you still so calm!?" Fille shouted at Veronica, "Your piece of meat was snatched away right from your mouth!"

"Will you keep it down!" Isabella glared at Fille, warning her.

If someone overheard and it got out, and then the warden found out she was the source of the news, she might be in serious trouble.

"Would you two calm down?" Veronica sighed, "There must be a reason for the boss doing this."

"What other reason could there be for a man and a woman to get a hotel room, if not driven by desire?" Fille suddenly interrupted.

"Shut up," Veronica glanced at Fille, "Even if that’s the case, it’s the boss’s choice, what’s there to criticize?" ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"When did you become so open-minded?" Isabella said, astonished.

"Alright, let’s not spread this matter around anymore; it’ll only bring trouble," Veronica said as she grabbed Isabella by the shoulders and pushed her to leave, "Hurry back to the reception desk!"

Isabella left, puzzled, leaving only Fille, who looked at Veronica with a surprised expression, "Big sis, have you given up?"

"Go and clean the toilets properly!" Veronica said coldly, glancing at her.

"I’m serious! Have you undergone some kind of change in your attitude?" Fille persisted, "Come on, don’t deny it, the whole prison knows who you like!"

"Don’t talk nonsense, it’s not that exaggerated!" Veronica rolled her eyes and then sighed deeply, "I’ve just come to realize some things. I should just do my job well, support him as much as I can. Some things can’t be forced, and I don’t have the right to bind his choices. If our hearts can connect, that’s the best outcome, but if not, even a good cry is enough."

"Big sis..." Fille gazed thoughtfully at Veronica for a while, "You really are open-minded."

"Enough, it’s none of your business," Veronica made a shooing gesture.

"I’ve made up my mind, I support you! Even if someone else gets there first, it’s okay as long as you win in the end," Fille suddenly put her arm around Veronica’s shoulder, "Let me tell you, full support should include physical comfort too, the body is always a shortcut to a heartfelt connection. I can teach you that part, as long as you satisfy one tiny condition of mine—ow ow ow ow!!"

"Do you always think with the gutter mind of yours?" Veronica said coldly as she twisted Fille’s wrist, "Go and clean the toilets properly!"
