Chapter 544: Chapter 545 Dispute Between the Great Witches_1
In the afternoon, in the warden’s office, Aiden was tending to his work as usual.
Suddenly, he felt the grey mist before his eyes churning.
He realized that the Great Witch’s token was pulling him into the summoning space, and at this moment, he could actively sever the magic power exchange with the token or distance himself from it to interrupt the summoning; however, his work at hand had just come to a pause, affording him the time and patience to see why Abigail was summoning him so abruptly.
Sure enough, Abigail’s summoning space soon materialized before him once more: the room wrapped in grey mist, the long table, the pile of pumpkin lanterns, the high-backed armchairs, and the five Great Witches sitting on the chairs. This time, Vila and Habanis also had returned after a long absence to attend the gathering.
"Why the sudden summon, I’m still working," Aiden said offhandedly.
"..."
Silence ensued; no one responded.
Abigail and Qiqimora were both staring at him, Vila and Habanis exchanged glances, while only Lamia held her arms, glancing back and forth at everyone.
The atmosphere was exceptionally awkward.
"What happened?" Aiden sensed the stiffness permeating among them and asked, furrowing his brow.
"That’s what we should be asking you," Vila looked over and asked in a soft voice, "What on earth did you do?"
"What?" Aiden was utterly bewildered, unsure how he had suddenly been blamed out of the blue.
Vila didn’t speak, but she raised her hand and pointed to the end of the long table.
Aiden turned his head and met Abigail’s gaze.
"So?" he asked Abigail.
"Today is just our usual gathering," Abigail stated, "an academic exchange."
"A Great Witch’s meeting? That shouldn’t have anything to do with me," Aiden replied, "I’m not a member of the witches’ gathering."
"Qiqimora and I have been unable to come to terms on certain matters, affecting this meeting. Therefore, I hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible," Abigail explained.
"You two haven’t figured things out yet?" Aiden was taken aback.
"Right, and so I feel that as one of the parties involved, you, the warden, should also be present," Abigail explained.
Vila and Habanis looked at each other, their faces as if they had swallowed flies.
From the onset of this meeting, the rigid atmosphere between Abigail and Qiqimora swiftly made it impossible to continue the academic exchange. Until now, they still hadn’t grasped what the issue was between these two, but when Abigail suggested that they should resolve this matter soon and then summoned Aiden here, they at least understood one thing—
The conflict between Abigail and Qiqimora was related to Aiden Galahad.
"Abigail, you know full well that I’ve always been pursuing, why must you interfere?" Qiqimora looked at Abigail and spoke in a stern tone.
"Interfere? Without my bridging, how would you have had a chance? I’ve been supporting you selflessly all this time; do you take it for granted?" Abigail replied calmly, "The terms I proposed are fair. Me first, then I’ll give him back to you."
"Knowledge can be shared, but some things cannot. The trust between you and I hasn’t reached that level, has it?" Qiqimora said coldly.
Emotional entanglement? Vila wondered to herself.
A scene of carnage? Habanis speculated.
Shock assaulted the hearts of both women. They had previously joked about Qiqimora merely in jest, never considering that Qiqimora might actually become involved with this man. What was more terrifying was that Abigail was also entangled in this.
"That’s why I said we shouldn’t have let this damn man into our gathering. He only messes everything up!" The impetuous Habanis started complaining outright.
Vila, who rarely agreed with Habanis, found herself in support of her opinion this time. They, the Great Witches, were gathered for the pursuit of knowledge, not to perform soap opera storylines. A bizarre love triangle did not suit a witch gathering.
Before Aiden could react to this, Abigail spoke first, "Habanis, you wait over there for a moment."
"Don’t interrupt, it’s none of your business," Qiqimora added.
"You are still taking his side!?" Habanis was stunned. She turned towards Aiden, her look becoming somewhat ferocious, "You little mischief-maker, you’ve made this place a mess. I will hang you sooner or later!"
"Shut up, Habanis," Lamia suddenly said. "I’m looking after this kid. You dare, and I’ll deal with you first."
"Damn it, you too?" Habanis’s eyes nearly popped out.
"What in the world has happened?" Vila murmured to herself.
Just a few months had passed, and the three giantesses of the witch gathering were all entwined with this man before them.
The witch gathering... was ruined!
"I always feel the conversation is a bit off." Aiden looked back and forth, "Forget it, let’s talk business. Abigail, after making the deal, you must take ’The Hand of Oblivion’?"
"The Hand of Oblivion?" Both Vila and Habanis were taken aback. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"I just plan on borrowing that thing. After the deed is done, I will return it to Qiqimora, but unfortunately, Qiqimora does not trust me," Abigail said.
"Among us, even if there is trust, it is only at the most basic level." Qiqimora spoke earnestly, "I haven’t even seen your true face until now, Abigail. How could I willingly entrust what I have sought for all my life to you?"
"If you, Abigail, need to use the power of The Hand of Oblivion, then why not simply let Qiqimora use it?" Aiden questioned, "As a saint, she should be able to harness the power of the sole authority better."
"Saint!?" Vila’s eyes widened again. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"Since when did you become a saint!?" shouted Habanis in surprise.
"Abigail won’t agree, just as I can’t easily trust her, she won’t trust me either," Qiqimora said with a sarcastic tone.
"Will you still honor your promise and risk your life for me once the sole authority is in your hands? Even you wouldn’t believe it if you agreed," Abigail retorted calmly.
"In terms of proximity to the authority, you and I are already on the same level. Stop talking down to me; are you worried I’ll surpass you once I obtain the sole authority?" Qiqimora was getting a bit agitated.
"I have never been high and mighty. If you think that, it’s just your inferiority complex talking," Abigail said.
"What did you say!?"
"The topic... has strayed," Aiden clapped his hands emphatically, interrupting the quarrel between the two, "Such a sorry state of affairs when it comes to fundamental interests, it’s amazing your ragtag organization has lasted this long."
