Chapter 542: Chapter 543 The Bounty Hunter’s Daughter_1

When Aiden opened the door and entered, he saw Veronica with a dull look in her eyes and a strange woman with sparkling eyes on the other side of the room.

What happened? He glanced at Veronica with some confusion.

"Hello, Mr. Aiden, I’ve been eagerly waiting for your return!" the "Flower Lady" greeted Aiden excitedly.

"Hello..." Aiden looked at the woman in front of him and was momentarily stunned.

He now finally understood why Veronica had been unable to describe this woman’s appearance. freewёbnoνel.com

The Flower Lady indeed was very beautiful, breathtakingly so—to the extent that anyone who saw her would have their eyes light up. But it was hard to find any distinguishing features on her face; her facial features were all perfectly and harmoniously arranged, maintaining a marvelous balance, as if they had been sculpted by a top-tier artist.

Aiden kept his composure and nodded to her, "I heard about you from my subordinates, you are as beautiful as they said, and now I understand why their descriptions were so exaggerated."

"Oh my, that’s quite embarrassing to hear," the Flower Lady said with a smile that became even brighter, exuding an enchanting beauty.

Veronica’s expression didn’t change. She had already endured quite a shock, and this additional pursuit was not enough to cause any significant disturbance within her.

"Could you tell me your name first?" Aiden asked.

"My name is Deborah Awen," the Flower Lady introduced herself graciously.

"Hello, Miss Awen..."

"Call me by my first name," Deborah requested earnestly, "I want to call you by your first name, and you can call me by mine as well."

I want to call him by his first name too! Veronica thought.

"Alright, Deborah," Aiden said, not particularly bothered by the form of address, "I’ll get straight to the point. Why do you come to the prison every day to look for me?"

"Oh Mr. Aiden, are you truly unaware or just pretending not to understand?" Deborah asked with meaningful intent.

"Some things lose their meaning if not stated clearly," Aiden replied calmly.

"Then I’ll just say it—I am here to pursue you, Mr. Aiden," Deborah said, extending the bouquet forward with a smile.

Separated by the glass curtain wall and iron bars, the bouquet could not be passed through; she was obviously just making a gesture. However, Veronica truly felt a tremor in her heart, as if Aiden could reach out any moment, accept the flowers with a "yes," and then something irreversible would occur.

"Are you serious?" Aiden asked.

"Of course, I have seriously considered marriage," Deborah said earnestly.

Veronica’s heart skipped a beat.

This woman had even thought about marriage? She herself had only thought as far as what to name their kids... Wait a minute, doesn’t that mean she was actually more serious?

Then Veronica suddenly realized: No, it didn’t matter how far ahead she had thought; what mattered was that this woman was serious about her superior!

"Is this a marriage proposal?" Aiden asked bluntly.

"I couldn’t be happier if you would consider it that way," Deborah said with an open and sincere smile.

"Miss Deborah, may I confirm, is this a joke?" Aiden asked with a serious face.

Being proposed to by an unparalleled beauty seemed like a fantastic affair, but only if the other party wasn’t a complete stranger with an unclear background. In both his past and present life, Aiden had encountered many "beauties" in prison who cozied up to men at first sight—without exception, they were all fraudsters.

Not to trust that pie will fall from the sky was the first rule against being defrauded.

"Of course not, marriage is a matter for a lifetime," Deborah replied seriously.

"Since it is a matter for a lifetime, one shouldn’t just randomly partner up with a stranger," Aiden said matter-of-factly. "Forgive my directness, but Miss Deborah, you and I are complete strangers."

If she were just a fraudster, that would have been one thing, but this woman was clearly entangled with the power of authority; if he let her beauty cloud his judgment and stumbled into a trap, he would be devoured whole—especially if she had any connections with Mister Bloodshed.

Although, from a timeline perspective, the possibility of this woman claiming to be Deborah being related to Mister Bloodshed wasn’t high, as her first visit to the prison occurred before Aiden’s encounter with Mister Bloodshed at the military base. But better safe than sorry.

After his initial skirmish with Mister Bloodshed, Aiden felt his paranoia growing stronger.

"You may not know me, but I know you quite well, Mr. Aiden," Deborah said with a smile.

"You know me?" Aiden asked.

"Yes, please forgive me, I have taken the liberty of investigating you..." as Deborah spoke, she glanced at Veronica standing against the wall, lowering her voice slightly, "About this matter, could we talk quietly, just the two of us?"

Veronica quickly looked at Aiden.

Aiden didn’t look back at her but kept his gaze fixed on Deborah and asked, "You mean to discuss matters of authority?"

"This officer lady as well?" Seeing that Aiden didn’t avoid the topic, Deborah’s eyes widened slightly.

"She is my most trustworthy confidante. She is aware of the intelligence on authority, and I suppose you are also a person from this world," Aiden scrutinized Deborah’s eyes. "If it’s just talking about this topic, you need not avoid her."

Upon hearing this, Veronica breathed a sigh of relief.

"I didn’t expect you to have such a confiding female subordinate," Deborah shifted her gaze toward Veronica.

Veronica was startled; for the first time, she read hostility in Deborah’s eyes.

"Miss Deborah, your look is quite scary," Aiden also noticed the sudden unfriendly look in Deborah’s eyes.

"Sorry, sorry, I’m a bit jealous of her," Deborah’s lips remained turned up, but her eyes held no laughter, "Please rest assured, I’m also a reasonable person. But while actions are controllable, emotions sometimes are not, and it’s hard not to care about the women who are close to the man one fancies. Please excuse me."

Jealous of me? That should be my line... Veronica thought.

"You’re quite frank," Aiden commented before bringing the conversation back on track, "You just said you have investigated me?"

"Yes, I have looked into your last few years, so I know that you are a person of integrity. Besides, you have come close to the ’Order’ of authority," Deborah said with a smile, "These two points make you like my father—he is the man I admire most in my life."

"Your father?" Aiden frowned.

"You must have heard of my father’s name." Deborah smiled, "His name is Duboman; he is the most outstanding and greatest Bounty Hunter in this world."
