Chapter 522: Chapter 523: Wipe Your Own Butt_1
Mr. Bloodrobe stood alone in the empty operating room.
Just one second ago, he had seen Aiden Galahad and his witch companion, Tony Dodge holding his father’s corpse, and even the mercury alloy golem—all conscious entities in the room besides himself—had opened a door behind them, into a pitch-black passage.
In the blink of an eye, they were sucked into that door and vanished from the spot.
Mr. Bloodrobe could still sense them, not too far away, still within the research institute nestled in the belly of the mountain. He turned toward the operating room’s steel door and heard a thunderous crash coming from afar.
After their shift, they destroyed the passage; chasing them from here was now impossible, and the trick of using "sacrifice" to exchange bodies couldn’t be used in succession either.
It was the power of "Order." This time Aiden Galahad had made notable progress, not only stepping into this world but even discovering his plans to obtain the Hand of Obliteration, coming to stop him.
This was probably also part of the plot written by the goddess of conspiracy.
Now it was time to wrap up this script.
He reached out, grabbed Professor Dodge’s severed arm, and then began to recite an incantation, "To the end, you must return the flesh and blood, back to dust."
Professor Dodge’s hand suddenly melted, turning into thick, mud-like red blood flowing onto the ground, leaving only two pieces of white bone in Mr. Bloodrobe’s hand.
Mr. Bloodrobe began to recite the ritual for transferring divinity; the sole authority, having lost its host, should have revealed itself by now.
However, in the end, nothing appeared. He slowly caressed the two pieces of white bone with his hand.
Nothing, there was nothing at all.
Mr. Bloodrobe immediately understood what had happened.
He threw the bones down, letting them scatter on the ground.
Aiden Galahad was getting away.
...
Outside the base research institute’s material warehouse, Aiden stepped through the gate created by the power of "Punishment" and landed on the ground.
This research institute, truly a dead-end structure within the belly of the mountain, had been left via "Exile’s Punishment." They successfully teleported out from inside the restricted area, arriving near the entrance of the institute.
Aiden stabilized his form in a half-kneeling position and looked up to see Lamia following closely behind him, pressing down on him in a straight line.
Aiden rolled away, and Lamia landed heavily on the ground, immediately propping herself up with her snake tail.
She immediately cast a dissatisfied glance at Aiden, her expression clearly reading, "Wasn’t that a bit much?"
"A girl falls down and you don’t even know to catch her? Where has your chivalry gone, fed to the dogs? And she took a fatal blow for you at that, what a scumbag," the goddess of vengeance materialized next to Aiden and teased loudly.
"Cut it out, we could die here!!" Aiden retorted without any politeness.
The weight of Lamia in her beast form was probably not much lighter than a cow; falling from three meters high wasn’t a question of whether he could catch her but rather whether the outcome would be broken bones or death.
Aiden noticed the wound on Lamia’s throat was almost sealed on the outside, so there wasn’t much bleeding.
"Are you alright?" he pointed at his neck; after all, she was injured for his sake, and he ought to show some concern.
Lamia opened her mouth and let out a faint "hiss," seeming like she was able to inhale a little bit of air now.
Her physical structure had already completely diverged from that of a human, and injuries of this kind seemingly did not constitute absolutely fatal damage to her; as long as she was within the domain of the "Wordless Code," she should heal very quickly.
The mercury golem fell to the ground like a clump of mud; as a special entity bestowed with life by the "Life" saint Abigail, Aiden had already confirmed that the "Punishment" power could also be effective against it.
It curled into a ball, its surface seemingly boiling as it pulsated continuously, while emitting a buzzing vibration, as if a machine was restarting amidst malfunction.
It had shaken off Mr. Bloodcoat’s influence; it was just that its internal core needed to readjust to follow Aiden’s programming.
"Damn it," cursed Qiqimora, who had also been banished through the door, through gritted teeth.
"You should be glad to have escaped," said Aiden.
"Jailer, you’re about to die and you can still laugh?" Qiqimora glanced at Aiden somewhat irritably.
She was in a bad mood. Ascension to sainthood should have been a momentous joy for her, but it was excruciating to watch as the sole authority she coveted was seized right before her eyes.
"That is not necessarily so," Aiden said, shifting his gaze towards a spot a little further away.
Tony Dodge had also come through the door, carrying the body of Professor Dodge. Now he was sitting on the ground, cradling his father, Harrison Dodge, whose half-open eyes would blink no more, showing no signs of life. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Tony sat there, stunned, seemingly still unable to process the fact that he had been transported.
"What do you mean?" Qiqimora asked doubtfully.
"Could you destroy that passage over there first?" Aiden pointed not far away.
Frowning, Qiqimora looked in that direction and began to chant the divine word "Annihilation," consuming the pillars and load-bearing walls with her power; the passageway uttered a few strange noises and then the ceiling collapsed abruptly.
This was the mandatory passageway out of the restricted area. With it sealed, Mr. Bloodcoat would have a harder time following.
"Kid," the Goddess of Vengeance suddenly spoke to Aiden.
"What is it?" Aiden asked, knowing what she would say but asked anyway.
"Why did you do that foolish thing back then?" the Goddess of Vengeance asked. "If you hadn’t intervened, that maggot would have been severely hurt if not dead, right? The direct damage from the sole authority might have disintegrated him before he had the chance to transfer."
Aiden fell silent for a moment, then replied, "One must clean up one’s own mess. I will return this humiliation myself; I need no delirious child to do it for me."
"Not bad, you’ve finally taken on the color of hatred," the Goddess of Vengeance said with a twisted smile.
Aiden gave no response.
In the past, although he had been intent on dealing with Mr. Bloodcoat, his motivation was merely self-preservation; towards Mr. Bloodcoat himself, Aiden did not actually harbor much personal animosity—the vendetta strictly speaking should belong to the former Aiden.
But now it was different. He had tangibly felt the senseless malice Mr. Bloodcoat had directed at him.
Any person with normal emotions could not help but feel the urge for revenge in response to this.
The villains in the script written by the Goddess of Conspiracy had truly aroused his revulsion for the first time; he had taken his part actively in this script, and these were no longer just the grievances of the former Aiden.
With this in mind, Aiden suddenly remembered the memory flashbacks he had seen before; the memories of the former Aiden being killed by Mr. Bloodcoat had appeared in them, those were indeed from his own perspective, as if he was really there. But those unfamiliar memories... what exactly were they?
As he pondered, he suddenly saw Tony Dodge hesitantly raising his hand again.
