Chapter 436: Chapter 436 Try Special Flavors_1
Several days later, Rose Iron Prison, core area exercise yard.
"I can’t stand it! Don’t you think it’s weird?" Fille yelled at Camilla, who was sitting on a chair.
"What’s wrong with you now?" Camilla leaned back on the bench, one leg crossed over the other, frowning.
"Think about it, Master Aiden hasn’t inspected for so long, what on earth is he busy with?" Fille complained loudly.
"Oh, the usual spring fever," Camilla smirked, "Poor whore, it’s been almost five minutes since you’ve been in contact with a man..."
"Hey, I’m serious! Don’t you find it odd?" Fille said earnestly.
"Didn’t you just help him with some business a few days ago, together with me?" Camilla yawned indifferently.
"That’s one thing, but the pathetic frequency of his appearances is another. These past few weeks he’s hardly ever inspected the core area, when he used to come twice a week before!" Fille said, hands on hips.
"Look at those people behind us," Camilla raised her hand, pointing behind her.
"Hmm?" Fille turned her head.
Prisoners walked in pairs or groups around the yard, some laughing and chatting, others conversing at the edges of the yard.
"What about them?" Fille turned back, puzzled.
"It’s so peaceful it makes me want to vomit," Camilla said, tipping her head back, "In the past month, I haven’t heard of anyone fighting, even the newcomers are as docile as rabbits. I can’t find anyone to pick on! Have you asked those two witches in cell twelve? Since your pirate roommate tried to escape, until today, not a single escape! Usually, there’s at least one idiot a month..."
"Normal prisons aren’t filled with escapes," Fille retorted with a pout, "It just means that the discipline in this prison has gotten better."
"That’s exactly the problem! How often does an inmate in a regular prison see the head warden? If he’s not coming around to show force and keep order, what’s the point of his visits?" Camilla said, scratching her ear with her little finger and flicking it toward Fille.
"Yuck! That’s disgusting!!" Fille flinched away in disgust, "So are you saying that as long as something goes wrong in the prison, he’ll start coming more often?"
"That’s a good idea," Camilla snapped her fingers, "Hey, give me some money, and I’ll beat someone up. Wouldn’t that count as ’something going wrong’?"
"Why would I make an enemy for myself? If they start an investigation and you rat me out, won’t I die with you?" Fille refused.
"That’s simple, I’ll just beat you up, won’t I?" Camilla smiled.
"Pay someone to beat me up? Am I stupid?" Fille muttered.
"Oh, so you’re not stupid after all."
"Even so, it’s weird that he hasn’t even come by the workshops during the day. What’s he busy with all day long?" Fille folded her arms, "He’s up to something during the day, isn’t he?"
"Doesn’t your roommate do chores in the hallway every day? Haven’t you asked her?"
"Pfft, what should we talk about? We’re not that close," Fille replied coldly. She still shared a room with the female pirate Annie Drake. After Annie’s failed escape, she had learned to keep quiet, but she made no attempts at befriending her roommate, and Fille wasn’t interested either.
"Where is she?" freeweɓnøvel.com
"Over there!" Fille pointed in the distance.
Camilla looked over and saw Annie squatting idly by the edge of the yard.
"Hey, errand pirate!" Camila called out, full of swagger as she sat on the bench.
Startled, Annie turned around.
"Come here," Camila motioned to her, then gestured a fist-clenching move, "Hurry up!"
Annie hesitated for a moment but still walked over obediently; after all, she had suffered at Camila’s hands before and now she no longer had any backers.
When Annie approached gingerly, Camila, seated on the bench, asked, "You’ve been doing errands in the hallway, right? Have you seen the warden?"
Now Annie was assigned to cleaning duties in the prison, sweeping the corridors of the core area, not exactly heavy work but rather ironic—she and her father once ran through these places with pirates and escaped female prisoners.
Sometimes, the guards let her clean the offices and the duty rooms while being watched. Although Aiden never let prisoners clean his office, those responsible for chores had opportunities to reach the guards’ working area while other prisoners were out, increasing the chance of encountering Aiden.
Annie didn’t know the purpose of the question and honestly answered, "Yes."
"Have you noticed what he’s been busy with lately?" Camila pressed.
"Well, no..." Annie faltered.
"Think hard!" Camila cracked her knuckles, and the joints snapped loudly.
"Uh..." Annie strained to remember, managing to find a clue, "Recently, he seems to often go toward the solitary cells...yes, in the mornings and afternoons. And once, I heard him ordering the guards not to let the cleaning crew near the solitary cell corridor."
"What’s he doing in the solitary cells? The prison’s so calm, who’s in solitary confinement now?" Camila frowned.
"Damn! Who’s the little bitch?" Fille suddenly clenched her fists, "He goes there both morning and afternoon and doesn’t allow disturbances; it’s clearly a secret meeting, right?"
Annie glanced at her but said nothing.
"If you want to teach her a lesson, just pay me," Camila grinned wickedly, "With enough cash, I can take care of anyone!"
"Money’s not the issue. The problem is, who the hell is that little bitch?" Fille frowned, "I’ve heard nothing about someone screwing up and getting solitary confinement."
"It’s Halo, that lunatic went crazy in the infirmary and got locked up,"
The abrupt voice carried across from the exercise yard—Meiruki Slave happened to walk by during her lap around the track, overheard their conversation, and casually answered their question.
"Ah! Cell number three has been empty lately!" After a moment’s silence, Fille abruptly remembered.
"Shit, the warden’s having secret rendezvous with her!?" Camila was so shocked she nearly leaped from the bench, "When did his taste become so twisted?"
"That, that’s impossible!" Fille laughed unnaturally, "A lunatic woman in her thirties, with ordinary looks and figure, how could my charm lose to that sort of woman? Impossible, just impossible..." ƒreewebɳovel.com
She had just teased Presia about this when Halo went crazy before; she never thought it could turn out like this.
"You never know. Maybe the warden suddenly wanted to try a special flavor." Meiruki Slave sneered coldly, then walked away on her own.
Fille’s expression froze on her face.
Then, she turned aggressively toward Camila, "Hey, what we just discussed, about the price being negotiable, later you help me—"
"I’d rather die than do it!!!" Camila flatly refused.
