Chapter 588: Chapter 588: Insisting on Sleeping with the Bad Human
’Entertain her number two patron?’
Renee Jennings’s expression was grave, her voice tinged with worry. "Coco, do you know what time she’s meeting the number two patron?"
"I heard it’s at eleven," Coco replied. "That guy, Mike, said the number two patron is busy and couldn’t make it any earlier."
"Eleven o’clock... We have enough time, then." Renee Jennings said to the others beside her, "I have to go back to the station."
Michelle Fuller heard this and raised an eyebrow slightly. "Is something up?"
"Yes." Renee Jennings nodded, her expression solemn. "It’s pretty serious. Do you want to come to the station with me?"
"Yes!" Michelle Fuller replied instantly.
Sylvia Brooks and Faye Wyatt nodded at the same time.
"Okay." Renee Jennings then said to Pip the Sparrow, "Can you lead me to that bad human?"
"Of course." Coco took the initiative to negotiate. "But you have to treat us birds to some food."
He had heard that this human who could understand animals was very generous and would treat them to lots of tasty food.
Hearing this, Renee Jennings smiled and agreed. "No problem. I’ll arrange for some delicious food for you all."
"Deal." Coco flapped his wings, landed on her shoulder, and said to his companions, "Let’s go together."
They shared their fortunes and faced hardships together.
Renee Jennings and her friends returned to the police station with the little birds in tow.
When Sawyer saw them, she smiled and asked, "Renee, why are you all back? Did you forget something?"
"No." Renee Jennings shook her head gently. "Just now, I was outside and overheard a conversation between a little sparrow and its companion."
As soon as Sawyer heard that, she immediately realized there might be a case and quickly said, "The chief is still in Director Lowell’s office."
"Then go let him know. I’ll wait for him in the conference room."
"Okay." Sawyer turned and went upstairs, knocking on Quentin Lowell’s office door.
"Come in," a voice called from inside.
Sawyer pushed the door open and greeted them, "Director Lowell, Chief. Renee is here. She brought a few little sparrows. Looks like there’s a situation."
When Director Lowell heard this, his eyes instantly lit up. He urged, "Henry, you should hurry downstairs and see what kind of case it is."
"Alright." Henry Stark stood up, gave him a nod, and went downstairs.
On the conference room table, three little sparrows were pecking at breadcrumbs broken up by Kyle Morgan.
Michelle Fuller was holding up her phone, taking pictures of them with a grin. "They’re so cute."
The conference room door was suddenly pushed open.
Everyone turned toward the sound.
Henry Stark greeted everyone and walked straight to Renee Jennings’s side. "What’s the situation?"
"Yes." Renee Jennings gave a slight nod, her tone steady. "I just overheard Coco and his friends talking. There’s a female influencer named Joy..."
She recounted what she had learned, then tapped her phone a few times. "I just searched for her. This should be her."
Henry Stark looked at the woman on the screen, his dark brows knitting together, his handsome face covered with a cold, stern expression. "Her actions are despicable!"
Michelle Fuller and the others were also stunned after hearing the story. They couldn’t believe someone so shameless existed.
’She doesn’t want to service the patrons herself, so she tricks her stepmom and friend into sleeping with them?’
"Screenshot that and send it to the group chat," Henry Stark said coldly. "I’ll have them run a detailed background check on this woman."
"Okay." Renee Jennings immediately took a screenshot and sent it to the WeChat group. "I heard Coco mention that the last time, Joy tricked her stepmom into going to Starlight Apartments."
"Got it." Henry Stark pursed his thin lips and said softly, "Are you guys hungry? I can have food delivered. We can just have dinner here?"
Renee Jennings looked at Michelle Fuller and the other two, suggesting, "Why don’t you three go eat first? I’ll probably have to go out on the mission in a bit."
"Alright."
"Then we’ll meet up again after you’re done."
"Take care."
They all readily agreed. They also really hoped to save that girl and prevent her from being tricked into entertaining some bullshit number two patron.
Renee Jennings stayed at the station, discussing the case while eating a boxed meal.
"Coco, are Joy and Mike also planning to meet her friend at Starlight Apartments today?"
Coco and his companion were playing with a toy. Hearing his name, he stopped and looked over curiously. "Yes! She’s treating her friend to big crabs at Starlight Apartments!"
There was a file in front of Sawyer. She swallowed a mouthful of pork belly and said, "Joy’s real name is Veronica Young. She has a boyfriend named Emil Redmond, but she maintains a single persona online."
Zachary Conway took out his phone to contact the manager of Starlight Apartments.
A few minutes later, he put down his phone and frowned. "The manager at Starlight Apartments says there’s no rental information for those two."
"There isn’t?" Renee Jennings frowned slightly. "How many Starlight Apartments are there in Zenvia?"
"The one I asked," Zachary Conway said, "is the Starlight Apartments closest to Veronica Young’s IP address."
"They probably rented it using someone else’s ID," Henry Stark said, his dark eyes narrowing slightly.
Renee Jennings looked at him. "Then should we just have Coco lead us there?"
"Yes," Henry Stark nodded. "Let’s go check out the scene first."
「The car drove through the night.」
Renee Jennings looked at the little sparrow in her palm when something suddenly occurred to her. "Coco, besides her stepmom and today’s friend, has she ever invited anyone else to Starlight Apartments?"
’Judging by how Veronica Young and Emil Redmond operate, this probably isn’t their first time doing something like this.’
"Um... Birdie has to think." Coco hesitated. "Birdie doesn’t go over there very often."
At that moment, Coco’s companion chirped up, "Birdie knows! Birdie knows!"
Renee Jennings’s eyes lit up with pleasant surprise. "Fanny, you know? Can you tell me?"
"Of course!" Fanny said. "Birdie heard it from my old uncle. That bad human used to meet with other males at first. She’d feed them something, and the males would fall asleep quickly."
Renee Jennings pretty much understood.
’So when Veronica Young met those patrons before, she would drug them so she wouldn’t have to sleep with them.’
Fanny continued with the gossip, "But one of the males woke up and got suspicious. He demanded that the bad human sleep with him for real."
At this point, Fanny couldn’t help but ask curiously, "Humans are so weird. Why do they have to find the bad human to sleep with? Can’t they sleep by themselves?"
Hearing this, Renee Jennings blinked, a little flustered, and said in a low voice, "The ’sleeping’ they’re talking about is different from the sleeping you’re thinking of."
"Then what kind of sleeping is it?" Coco, Fanny, and Patty were all very curious.
Renee Jennings pursed her lips and said hesitantly, "You can think of it as... mating."
With that explanation, the little sparrows understood.
So that’s what it was. No wonder.
The car slowly pulled up in front of a shop next to Starlight Apartments.
The convenience store owner saw the car stop and immediately came out to shoo them away. He banged on the car door, shouting, "What do you think you’re doing? You can’t park here! Get moving."
Henry Stark lowered the window, showed his police badge, and said flatly, "Don’t make a scene. Go back to your store."
The convenience store owner instantly complied, nodding vigorously. "I get it. I promise I won’t say a word."
Back in his store, he immediately sent a message to his buddies’ group chat: [There must be a huge case going down over here. A bunch of cops just showed up!]
