Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Left or Buried

"So you’re looking for confidential documents." Mae Sullivan smiled, looking relieved. "Well, I hope you find them soon."

Kyle Morgan studied her impassively. "Thank you."

A servant brought them black tea.

Kyle Morgan was indeed a bit thirsty, so he picked up his cup and took a few sips.

Renee Jennings returned with the curly-haired cat in her arms, smiling as she looked at Mae Sullivan. "This kitty is just so adorable. Sister Mae, were you serious when you said I could take her home?"

Mae Sullivan nodded. "Yes, if you like her, you can take her home."

"Then I won’t be shy." Renee Jennings looked grateful. "Thank you for being willing to part with her."

"Don’t mention it." Mae Sullivan gestured for her to sit. "Please, try some of our tea and desserts."

Renee Jennings sat down with the curly-haired cat, and after a small taste, she announced their departure. "We still have to get lunch. We’ll come bother you again next time we have the chance."

"It’s no bother at all." Mae Sullivan was all smiles as she saw them to the villa’s entrance. "You’re welcome here anytime."

"Okay." Renee Jennings waved to her and said enthusiastically, "We’ll definitely be back."

Once they were a good distance away, Kyle Morgan finally spoke in a low voice, "Something’s not right with that woman."

Sawyer also whispered, "I noticed it too. When you said we were looking for confidential documents just now, she seemed to secretly breathe a sigh of relief."

"She’s definitely not right," Renee Jennings said, her tone growing heavy. "She’s not the one who raised this curly-haired cat."

"Uh, what did you find out?" Kyle Morgan felt a pang of guilt, remembering he had just assumed Renee was being frivolous.

Renee Jennings frowned. "The curly-haired cat’s owner is named Grace Sullivan."

"What’s Grace Sullivan’s relationship to Mae Sullivan?" Sawyer asked, curious.

Renee Jennings said, "Daisy just told me that Grace Sullivan is Mae Sullivan’s older sister. She came here with her owner, Grace, but she said she’s searched the whole villa for the past few days and hasn’t been able to find Grace anywhere."

Kyle Morgan asked suspiciously, "So Grace Sullivan just abandoned the cat and left?"

Renee Jennings pursed her lips, her expression complex. "It’s hard to say if she left, or if she was buried." ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Sawyer said with a serious expression, "I’ll contact the bureau right now to run a check on Mae and Grace Sullivan."

"Okay." Kyle Morgan nodded. "Let’s find the nearest place to grab a quick bite, then head back and look for Crow."

A villa in the suburbs was basically in the middle of nowhere. The nearest restaurant was a five-kilometer drive away.

The three of them each ordered a bowl of beef noodle soup, and after finishing, they rushed back to the villa district.

Crow hadn’t arrived yet, so Renee Jennings sat down on the edge of a flowerbed, holding the curly-haired cat, Daisy.

"Can you really help me find Grace?" the curly-haired cat, Daisy, asked, tilting her head up at Renee.

Renee Jennings gently stroked its head. "We’ll do our best."

It hadn’t been convenient back at Mae Sullivan’s villa, but she actually had many more questions to ask Daisy.

"Daisy, you said Grace is Mae’s sister. What’s their relationship like?"

The curly-haired cat, Daisy, thought for a moment before answering, "Sometimes Mae is very nice to Grace, but other times, Mae will curse at Grace."

Renee Jennings asked, "When Mae curses at Grace, is it when they’re arguing?"

"No." The curly-haired cat, Daisy, shook her head. "When Mae curses at Grace, Grace isn’t around."

Renee Jennings was confused. "She curses at her in secret?"

"Not really," Daisy said. "Mae curses at her for Connor Kent to hear."

Another new character had appeared.

Renee Jennings asked, "And who is Connor Kent?"

Daisy replied, "He’s Grace and Mae’s husband."

Renee Jennings said, "Huh?"

She frowned, growing even more puzzled. "Two people have the same husband?"

Kyle Morgan and Sawyer, who had been on their phones, immediately leaned in when they heard this.

"The same husband?"

"Who has the same husband?"

’Sure enough, gossip is human nature.’

Renee Jennings said with an amused laugh, "Hang on, let me get the full story and then I’ll tell you."

She looked at Daisy and asked seriously, "Grace and Mae are sisters. Are they both married to the same man?"

"Yes." Daisy nodded. "But Grace married Connor Kent a long, long time ago. Grace said that she’s a proud single woman now."

Renee Jennings understood. "So, in other words, Connor Kent is Grace’s ex-husband and Mae’s current husband."

Kyle Morgan remarked with a sigh, "This Mae is really something else, marrying her own former brother-in-law."

Renee Jennings then asked Daisy, "You said earlier that Mae curses at Grace for Connor Kent to hear. What does she say?"

Daisy recalled, "I worked so hard to give you two children, and you’re still thinking about that bitch Grace! Connor Kent, don’t you forget, it was Grace who abandoned you in the first place!"

Daisy tried her best to imitate Mae’s tone from that time.

"I hate Grace to death! If she left, why did she have to come back?"

"Why did she have to come and disturb my happy, wonderful life?"

Perhaps because it was imitating a human, Daisy’s expression looked a little strange at that moment.

Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought the cat was having a fit.

Kyle Morgan and Sawyer looked at each other, speechless.

Renee Jennings listened very intently, her slender brows furrowed. "So even though Connor Kent divorced Grace, he’s still in love with her?"

"Then why did he marry Mae afterward?" Sawyer didn’t understand.

Daisy was only three years old and didn’t know much. "I heard Connor Kent tell Grace ’I love you,’ but Grace told him not to say things like that, because he’s May’s husband now."

Renee Jennings frowned and analyzed the situation. "Because Connor Kent still has feelings for Grace, Mae resents her. But Grace no longer has any feelings for Connor."

Kyle Morgan clicked his tongue. "Well, in that case, I don’t think Grace did anything wrong at all."

"Yeah, it’s Connor Kent and Mae who have problems." Sawyer looked disgusted. "One is married but still pines for his ex-wife, and the other can’t control her own husband, so she blames another woman instead."

Kyle Morgan nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I wouldn’t have guessed Mae was someone with such warped values."

While the three people and one cat were talking, Crow flew over. "I’m back."

"Crow," Renee Jennings called out.

Crow flew to her shoulder, folded its wings, and looked at the curly-haired cat in her arms. "Huh? Where did the extra cat come from?"

Renee Jennings explained, "She was a gift from someone just now."

Crow nodded. "It seems you really do have a way with animals."

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow slightly. "You think so?"

"I do."

"By the way, what did Baldy say?"

Crow said joyfully, "Baldy agreed! It took a lot of courage."

"It really did. I’m so touched that it’s still willing to trust humans." Renee Jennings’s eyes brightened as she said softly, "So, are you going to take us to it now?"

"Yes." Crow nodded and glanced at her feet. "But it’s a bit of a long way. Can you guys keep up?"

"We’ll drive," Renee Jennings said. "You can give directions from inside the car."

"That works too." Crow was a little excited. "I’ve never tried one of your human vehicles before!"

The three people, one cat, and one crow walked from the back of the villa to the front.

This time, they didn’t see Mae Sullivan again.

When they passed her house, they only saw that the villa’s main gate was shut tight.

Seeing this, Kyle Morgan said in a low, serious voice, "See? Something is definitely not right with her."
