Chapter 155: Some Starve While The Others Drown

Adrian gestured to the floating rings.

"But me, on the other hand." Adrian grinned. "My curse stops me from using swords, but it also opened a path for me where I had to think outside the box. Unlike you, I can use seven swords."

He pointed at the metal discs.

"And these chakrams are basically swords that have the blades formed into sharp rings." Adrian said. "And since I don’t really have to use my hands to swing them, the attacks will come from every single direction. Can you handle that?"

That was when the veteran general actually got intimidated.

But he did not give up yet. He took a defensive stance and kept turning around rapidly to keep track of where the chakrams were hovering.

The chakrams flew straight toward him. Vekar continued deflecting them with perfect parries until they stopped flying in straight lines. Some of the rings flew right at him, stopped dead in mid air, and then suddenly jerked to the side to hit his blind spots. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

This erratic movement forced Vekar to waste huge amounts of energy on useless blocks. And even he could feel that Adrian was just playing with him right now.

After almost a minute of this dance, Adrian spoke up.

"Well, I have been sending one chakram at a time at you." Adrian called out. "Maybe I should start sending two and see how you hold up."

And that was when the complete one sidedness of the fight started.

The general managed to deflect one ring and dodge the other, but he was not successful all the time. Some of them grazed his body and left shallow cuts.

Vekar felt like Adrian was intentionally keeping the cuts shallow just to tire him out.

After another minute, Adrian raised his hand.

"Wanna try three?" Adrian asked.

But he did not really wait for the general’s answer. He just sent three chakrams flying in at the exact same time.

This was when Vekar could not even defend himself properly anymore. He could dodge one and deflect another. But tracking three blades from three totally different blind spots was almost impossible. His brain just stalled out.

He could not process it fast enough to figure out which one to block and which one to just tank with his armor. Because even though he knew dodging two of them at the same time was a stupid idea, his body just jerked to the side purely on survival instinct.

And he ended up putting himself in a terrible position where he got slashed by two chakrams simultaneously.

In just a minute of fighting three rings, Vekar ended up with blood all over his body from multiple deep cuts.

He was just so incredibly tired from swinging the heavy and from all the blood loss that he finally put the sword down into the ground.

Adrian also stopped sending the chakrams toward him and sent them back into his dungeon.

"I give up." Vekar panted.

Adrian looked over at Thorne. "Take care of the general."

Then he turned to look Vaneira again.

"Please leave my territory." Adrian told her. "I am disappointed that you came here even though you were not invited. So please leave this place and I will be visiting you once I am done with this party."

He crossed his arms.

"And do keep all the territorial transfer documents ready for me because I am not letting you leave so easily." Adrian warned.

Vaneira opened her mouth. She was just about to scream her lungs out in pure fury.

But Jack stepped out of the shadows right behind her. The assassin who wanted name and fame delivered a precise chop right to the back of her neck.

She fainted and collapsed onto the ground right before she could even scream.

Jack looked at Adrian. "Should I dispose of her, my lord?"

"No, just throw her out into the streets." Adrian ordered. "If she wants to go back home, she will find a way. If not, that is not my issue."

Adrian turned around and looked at all the silent, staring guests.

"Let us all continue the party, shall we?" Adrian smiled warmly.

He grabbed his white suit back from Claire and put his arms through the sleeves. Then he leaned in right next to her ear.

"The mood is pretty dead." Adrian whispered to her. "What do I do right now?"

But before Claire could even say anything, Aria took action.

She just ran straight towards the massive food tables and began eating whatever was closest to her.

The people just stared the kid eating happily but they still hesitated to move.

Seeing this, Draven and Silas stepped up and made the first move. The two of them just invited their own wives out to the wooden floor to dance.

And while they danced, everyone else just went with the flow and the birthday party got lively again.

After all, not following the example of two high level nobles was disrespectful and it also put the other guests in a bad light. So they just went on, ignoring that a Marchioness has just been kicked out in one of the most humiliating ways possible.

Adrian on the other hand, watched as the party began getting lively and decided to join Aria.

But a swarm of noble girls completely surrounded him before he could even take a single step.

A girl stopped herself right in front of him. She kept blinking her eyes wide at him like some innocent puppy.

"Lord Adrian," she hummed softly. "My heart basically jumped out of my chest watching you fight out there."

Another noble woman pushed in right beside her.

"Your movements were so fierce." she sighed dreamily. "I feel so safe standing near you."

A third girl chimed in from his left. "That white suit is absolutely stunning. Won’t you grace me with a single waltz?"

Adrian just stood there.

He absolutely wanted to bolt. He did not know a single one of these women, and he didn’t really like the idea of dancing with them right now.

But he was trapped. He hosted this massive event so he could not just shove them aside and walk away.
