Chapter 149: Uninvited Guest

Aria called him back in a few minutes later. She stood in front of the mirror wearing the dress that she liked more.

"This is more comfortable." Aria said as she looked up at him.

Adrian nodded.

The one she picked was the tailor’s version.

He originally thought that having the perfect measurements from the system would create the ultimate dress. But the system made the clothes fit way too perfectly. The dress ended being a bit too tight and uncomfortable when she moved her arms.

The old human tailor knew much better. He added a tiny bit of slack to the measurements on purpose. The slightly loose fit made the dress incredibly comfortable to wear compared to Adrian’s version.

’I should not question the tailor’s skills so much. It’s not about having perfect measurement after all...’ Adrian thought.

And the visual difference between the dresses was almost zero so Adrian wasn’t going to complain. He grabbed the tight fit dress and tossed it right back into his dungeon storage.

"Go wash up and get ready." Adrian said. "Put the dress on when you are done."

Aria nodded happily. She started taking her dress off while Adrian walked out of the room.

Adrian headed down the hall to his own master bedroom. He needed to get ready too.

He pulled his new custom suit out of storage and put it on. It was a perfect, comfortable fit. It was pure white with subtle gold threads woven into the cuffs, along the buttons, pockets and there were also designs made on the shirt using these gold threads.

He stood in front of his mirror and checked himself out.

The suit looked ridiculously good on him.

He remembered what Claire told him at the shop. She said not every guy could actually pull off a white suit.

"Well, I guess she is not wrong." Adrian muttered to himself. "I actually do look really good in this one."

He then realized that half of his closet was basically filled with white clothes. The original Adrian from this world apparently liked white sets a lot before the transmigration happened. So the current Adrian just rolled with it because it clearly worked for him.

And the bright white and gold combination matched perfectly with Aria’s dark aesthetic.

He just threw a quick Cleanse spell over his body. Because taking a shower took too much time and he was feeling a bit too lazy.

Aria was already waiting for him outside her door.

She looked incredibly cute. The black dress puffed out around her legs and the red accents popped perfectly.

Adrian stopped right in front of her. His fingers literally twitched as he got this massive urge to just reach down and mess up her silver hair like he did every single day.

But he stopped himself.

Because she actually needed to look presentable tonight. Ruining her perfectly brushed hair right before her own party was a terrible move.

So he just held his hand out instead.

Aria grabbed his hand and beamed. The two of them headed down the wooden stairs and walked straight out the back doors toward the dirt training fields.

But Aria froze the second she stepped outside.

The plain training grounds were completely gone.

Massive open tents without any walls stood everywhere to provide shade with long wooden poles at the corners to keep them up. A bunch of long wooden tables lined the edges of the yard. And they were absolutely loaded with food.

Mountains of roasted beef and spicy gravies sat right next to massive layered cakes. Fresh bread was stacked high next to bowls of fried snacks and sweet desserts.

There was almost everything. There were barrels of expensive wine for the adults and huge glass dispensers with taps filled with non alcoholic fruit juice for the kids.

Aria stared at all the food first.

But then she looked past the tables.

A giant dance floor sat right in the middle of the tents. Polished wooden boards made up the base of the dance floor. The wood was so obnoxiously polished that the orange torchlight literally reflected off the surface.

And the yard itself was totally packed.

Hundreds of guests just stood around chatting and holding wine glasses. There were wealthy nobles, family members of those nobles, and kids running around.

But that was when she noticed someone she absolutely did not want to see.

Her mother.

Aria felt her stomach twist. Vaneira was standing near the edge of the dance floor.

Adrian noticed Vaneira at the exact same time. He stared right at his ex wife for a second and then he just turned his head and looked away.

He definitely did not send her an invitation. He guessed why she showed up unannounced, but picking a massive fight right now would just ruin Aria’s night.

So he completely ignored her existence.

The noisy crowd finally spotted them standing at the back. One by one, every head turned to look. Adrian found his own close circle in the sea of people and they were just grinning and laughing like crazy.

Adrian looked down at Aria.

"Are you ready?" Adrian asked. "We need to do the opening dance."

Aria looked a little bit hesitant, but then she gripped his fingers tighter.

"Yeah." Aria nodded. "I am ready."

The two of them stepped right onto the dance floor.

Aria was pretty short. So Adrian had to crouch down and bend his knees just to be able to dance with her properly.

They finally locked into a proper stance and the hired musicians started playing the music.

They began dancing with the music. It was not complicated stuff at all, just simple waltz. Really smooth, basic steps until they reached the center of the dance floor. They danced for a few minutes while the crowd watched.

Adrian finally stopped. He stood up straight and bowed to the whole group while Aria mimicked him. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Adrian brought two fingers up to his throat. He sent a tiny bit of mana straight into his vocal cords. Just enough to boost his volume without blowing anyone’s eardrums out.

"I am incredibly thankful for everyone who traveled this far just to celebrate my daughter today." Adrian’s magically amplified voice echoed across the yard. "We appreciate your presence and I hope that everyone can enjoy the night."

He dropped his hand and looked at Aria.

"Aria." Adrian smiled. "Time to cut the cake."
