Chapter 265: Before You Forgot Me [4]

"The Light Messiah. Leon Valentine?! What are you doing here?!"

"Huh? Who the heck?"

Leon blinked at the man who had just addressed him by that absurd title he had almost forgotten he still had.

The Light Messiah.

A title others had given him after the Tiara incident when he revealed himself to be a light affinity user. It was a name that suited someone like him, now known as the only confirmed light user in a world full of demons.

Leon did not like that title at all. To him it sounded childish. And most of all, cringe.

"..."

Anyways, if someone called him by that title here, it meant they were from outside Evana.

Leon rubbed his eyes to get a proper look at them. From what it seemed, he was struggling to see clearly again.

’Did I use Command of Grace again?’

’The lens I created for you is not on your eyeballs.’ Rumi noticed. ’Hmm? Did I leave your body?’

When the past Leon entered the audience hall, both Rumi and the present Leon noticed he was squinting more than usual. Which pointed to one conclusion. Rumi was not with him to help his vision.

Leon must have assigned her to something more important than staying with him to stabilize his mana core.

What could it be?

The past Leon glanced at the two standing before Irene and Anise. A girl in shining armour and a man with red eyes and golden blonde hair.

They were Samantha and Noel of Frost Tower.

He knew exactly who they were. He was just pretending not to. Because when they had met in Karnak City, Leon had been using a different appearance entirely.

Just like Ethan, these two also carried a Time Device.

It was Noel who had found theirs inside the Endless Reality.

According to the original storyline, Noel and Samantha arrived in Evana roughly five hundred loops later than Ethan. From that point forward they worked alongside Ethan, helping Anise with everything while slowly earning her political trust. All of it leading toward one goal.

They found a solution that would finally get them out of the loop.

It was a simple yet effective solution. The solution was to teleport Evana City back to its original geographical location.

For that to work Evana needed the backing of the three tower heads.

Frost Tower. Blood Tower. And The Moon Tower.

Lady Aisha, the current head of Frost Tower, had given her word that she would get all three tower heads to stand with Evana.

She did as she promised.

With the combined support of three tower heads backing the operation, it made it somehow hard for Dreamweaver to attack Evana openly. Doing so would mean going against three of the most powerful rulers in this era at once. Even a literal Calamity like him would pause before making that call.

That’s what they all thought.

But...

The real reason Dreamweaver never tried to stop them in the original storyline, was because by the time everything came together, Ethan had already uncovered his own origin, and so did everyone else and Dreamweaver.

They all started to find traces of who Ethan Graves truly was.

His origin of light affinity, the ever strong blind support of Everbright towards him.

They all started to make sense.

Ethan’s heritage became visible to everyone who mattered.

Once Dreamweaver understood this, he chose not to move. Because attacking him would cost him more than letting Evana escape ever would.

He just couldn’t break the oath they made between five calamities.

That was how Ethan’s route worked in the original story. It was clean, politically inclined, and safe.

It all served the story’s protagonist.

It was the turning point of Ethan Graves. And after this, a whole new route for him had opened.

Except this was not a mere story anymore.

Leon’s existence here had made things different. There was just no way the past version of him would have stayed still and done nothing after he found Lumina’s traces in Evana.

She visited this place to search for Shin. And from what it looked like, she left a good impression on Anise.

That being said, the ’past’ Leon must have gone his own way to search for the answers.

It’s hard to tell if he found the answer or not. Leon and Rumi looked as the past Leon entered the hall.

He walked past Noel and Samantha, and addressed Anise in a casual tone.

"You called?"

"We have a guest here from outside, and I am hoping if you could know them." Anise gestured next to where Leon was standing.

Leon didn’t even look at them, and said.

"No, I never met them." He said. "I got here directly from the mainland, and throughout my journey I never engaged with anyone."

"Oh. Yes, you told us before." Anise said, "but you see. They claimed to be working for a Tower Head. And they just now offered Evana to help."

Leon paused, allowed himself to look like he was thinking.

Noel saw his face, and spoke up.

"Pardon me for late introduction, Sir Leon Valentine." Noel said, "I am Noel from the Frost Tower. We have heard a lot about you and your light. It is an honour to have finally met the Light Messia—"

"Get to the business first." Leon stopped him from further calling him with that weird name. "If you are here, that means you got hold of a time device. Is that correct?"

Noel lightly hovered his hand on his pocket as he nodded his head to his question.

"I see, then is Lady Aisha aware about Evana’s situation?" Leon asked the next question.

Samantha beside Noel answered him.

"That is true. In fact, Lady Aisha received instruction from Lord Lancaster himself to help the city. We were following her order, just like how you are following Lady Veronica’s."

They assumed Leon was here because of Veronica. Otherwise how could someone his age have reached Evana before them.

This made Noel frustrated a bit, because Leon arrived here before them, and from what it looked like he and the queen of Evana were on really friendly terms.

And not only that. The queen even called him to ask for advice.

"So you know about the loop?" Leon asked them out of the blue.

"The loop?" Samantha repeated.

Leon sneered.

"Heh. So even Lady Aisha didn’t inform you. Oh well, I somehow guessed it."

"What did you say?"

Leon ignored Samantha’s words, and explained to them about Evana’s true condition.

"What... what the hell? Is this really happening?" Samantha couldn’t believe her ears.

Even Noel’s was first time hearing this.

If what Leon told them was correct, then they were in a very bad situation.

A spell casted by a literal calamity, and two other calamities helping the city, and were now in a deadlock.

And not to forget that even Lancaster wanted to get involved here.

Noel’s thoughts raced thousands of miles and he reached several questions on his own.

Leon saw Noel, he saw his widened eyes and how he was struggling to think. So he asked him the same question Noel had been thinking. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Why did Lancaster want to get involved now?" Leon asked in a calm tone, yet when Noel looked, he found him smiling.

Leon continued. "You must be thinking that, am I right?"

After all these years, why did Lancaster want to get involved? Surely he could have helped Silvermoon and Everbright when they were saving Evana by directly opposing Dreamweaver. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Lancaster could have joined hands with the twin calamity and they could put more pressure on Dreamweaver.

Why didn’t he do it then, and why did he do it now?

Noel looked at Anise, she clenched her fist in anger, and the same reaction could be seen for the platinum haired lady standing beside them.

Noel at last asked Leon.

"Why?"

Leon didn’t hide it, and answered.

"The Oath of Balance"
