Chapter 1320: Chapter 1317: Is This a Serf Uprising?

After the plane arrived in Nanyang, Richard Shaw returned to Imperial City. Leah hesitated several times and decided to stay in Nanyang, so the two parted unhappily.

Delphine, kept in the dark, was a bit surprised. Regardless of Ignatius Leclair’s urging, she pulled Leah aside and whispered, "Did you bully Major General Shaw?"

"No, absolutely not." Leah’s beautiful eyes flickered a bit, and she smiled awkwardly. Delphine saw this and knew for sure that Leah had bullied Richard Shaw.

"No worries, I know him well. He never stays angry for more than three seconds. He’ll probably regret it before reaching Imperial City," Leah said lazily with a smile. Actually, she found it puzzling that Richard Shaw decided to head back to Imperial City?

It doesn’t quite make sense. Lately, Richard’s been so clingy, and now he goes back to Imperial City?

But Leah was more than happy for him to return to Imperial City. Even though having a man around means being spoiled, with clothes handed to you and meals prepared, you just have no space of your own, and seeing someone all the time gets tiresome too. Being alone is much freer; she could visit Delphine for a chat anytime. So Leah happily settled down in Nanyang.

And then Richard Shaw returned to Imperial City, listening to Ignatius Leclair talk about how Leah cheerily went back to Squire Manor, which made him sulk immediately.

So that’s how much he was worth in her heart?

Thus, one day, Major General Shaw discussed the matter with his son Casimir, neither of them calling Leah.

After three or four days passed, Leah gradually realized something was wrong; Richard seemed not to have spoken to her for days.

Growing bored at home, with Griffith also disappearing these past few days to go on a honeymoon with Aurora, Leah mused for a bit and decided to visit Delphine’s place for a meal.

Leah chose evening to visit, not noon. Otherwise, if the young couple was too active the night before, they might not wake up in the morning, and that wouldn’t be good.

Even visiting in the evening, Ignatius’s face didn’t look great, especially seeing Leah was clearly there to mooch a meal, his handsome face turned a bit dark.

Seeing Leah reminded Ignatius of Griffith. Just thinking of Griffith made him want to sharpen knives. Ha, still wants to mooch a meal, eat what he cooked — a hundred times unwilling inside.

Leah hugged a pillow, looking a bit listless on the sofa.

Recently, Delphine’s been quite busy. It’s year-end, many summarized reports from the group need reviewing, and Ignatius has been acting like he’s taken something wrong these days. Besides the nearly ritual nightly bed-tugging, he barely talks to her during the day, so all this work originally belonging to Ignatius has now stacked onto her shoulders.

With Leah’s arrival, Delphine merely greeted her, letting her feel at home, while she continued fighting her way through work.

Leah became even more bored, watching Ignatius cooking in the kitchen while Delphine worked overtime. Leah bit her lip, tugged at Delphine’s arm, saying, "It’s not even the company you founded single-handedly. Ignatius doesn’t even care, why are you working so hard for him? I’ve been here for twenty minutes, and you haven’t looked at me once."

Seeing Leah’s pitiful expression, Delphine reconsidered. Indeed, she’s been too busy lately, running herself ragged for Ignatius’s company night and day.

Delphine closed her laptop, rubbed her sore shoulder, hugged a pillow too, and sat beside Leah. Thoughtfully, she said, "I hadn’t even realized until you mentioned it. Ignatius does seem like he’s deliberately tormenting me lately."

"???" Leah suddenly widened her eyes, incredulous, "Tormenting you? Has he lost his mind?"

Being cold during the day, at night he still indulges in his favorite ways, no longer bothering about her feelings.

Delphine squinted slightly, vaguely muttering a few words.

Leah’s small universe exploded in an instant, sneering, "Ignatius is just acting up. Tomorrow, let’s go traveling, ten days to half a month without coming back, let him play by himself."

Leah said as she pulled Delphine’s arm and pleaded, "Delphine, come travel with me. Richard’s been acting out too, not calling me for four days straight, is he trying to start a rebellion? If I don’t suppress this evil wind, I might as well take his surname."

Delphine was shaken by her arm, bit her lip as she pondered.

The two were whispering in each other’s ears when Ignatius, wearing an apron and headphones, was video chatting with Richard Shaw. Luckily, the living room was large, with the kitchen and relaxation area separated, neither overhearing the other.

"It’s just four days, your self-control and patience are really lacking, huh?" Ignatius drawled lazily, swiftly preparing the salmon while mocking Richard Shaw, refusing his inappropriate request to video call to see Leah.

If discovered, their plan would fall through.

After not hearing his wife’s voice or seeing her for four days, Major General Shaw’s face turned livid, almost spitting up blood; now he was stuck and had to soldier on. Ignatius sees his wife every day, holds her, and chats with her. Easy to speak when standing relaxed.

"Leah shows no reaction. I’m now doubting your plan can work at all." Richard snorted coldly, "Why don’t you try breaking through with Delphine Carter?"

"I’ve already been working on that," Ignatius said coolly, "I’ve barely talked to my wife during the day these past few days."

Endured quite painfully.

Delphine has a long reflex arc. Four days passed, and she hadn’t noticed; Ignatius remarked helplessly.

"That’s what you call a breakthrough?" Major General Shaw’s face was a bit flushed, ignoring her during the day only to be just as happy and loving at night — Ignatius’s IQ must’ve plunged to the negatives after falling in love.

"Old Shaw, you really are straightforward. If Leah wasn’t reacting, why would she be mooching meals at my house? She’s here scouting for enemy information. How’s your preparation going over there?" Ignatius glanced at Richard Shaw, shaking his head with disdain. In the business world, the honest type like Old Shaw would’ve been swindled out of his pants long ago.

"Almost ready, the other party is the Land Family’s second daughter, Land Qingyu, apparently a die-hard fan of your wife. Tonight, the old lady’s inviting her over for meal at Shaw Mansion." Richard offered briefly.

Finding such a girl wasn’t easy.

"Land Family? Not bad, tonight just wait for the good news." Ignatius smiled confidently and hung up the call.

Benjamin and Nicholas have been staying at Leclair Mansion these days, Ignatius didn’t bother picking them up, so dinner was just the three of them.

The man, expressionless, placed dinner on the table, washed his hands, calling Delphine to eat, then casually glancing at Leah, said lightly, "Miss Squire hasn’t gone to Imperial City?"

Leah saw he had something to say but still maintained a deadpan face, raised her brows, with a smile not reaching her eyes, said, "Staying well in Nanyang, why would I go to Imperial City?"

"Hmm." Ignatius nodded, elegantly seated at the table, eating.

"Did something happen in Imperial City?" Delphine asked flatly, seeing Ignatius’s look clearly showed he knew something.

"Old Shaw just called me, said Casimir Shaw fell at school a few days ago, his class teacher brought him home, and the old lady specifically invited Teacher Land for dinner at the Shaw Mansion. I heard she’s quite fond of Richard Shaw, the second Miss of the Land Family, Cassius Turner’s sister." Ignatius finished, his deep gaze fell on Delphine, mentioning Cassius Turner flashing cold light in his eyes.

Delphine and Leah both froze for a moment, so what’s this all about?

Richard Shaw might be leaning toward greener pastures?
