Chapter 1293: Chapter 1291: Griffith Squire Is No Stranger to Life and Death—He Can Endure This Pain
Griffith Squire emerged on the afternoon of the third day, the timing calculated to be precisely within 72 hours.
The ambulance and doctors standing by outside had been waiting for three days, and even Cornelius Turner had been stationed at the entrance all day. When he truly saw the person come out, he momentarily froze, then quickly jumped out of the car and shouted excitedly, "Boss, you’re out!"
Cornelius Turner’s full-throated shout made the handsome yet wicked man frown.
When the man came out, he had specially taken a bath and changed into clean clothes, even shaved his beard clean. Yet Cornelius Turner’s face still changed suddenly, his gaze sharp as he softly asked, "Boss, are you injured?"
The faint scent of blood lingered at the tip of the nose; having lived through life and death, they instantly realized what had happened.
"It won’t kill me," Griffith Squire said lazily, his voice unusually hoarse. His handsome, wicked face was quite pale, even though he stood straight, his movements were somewhat stiff when walking.
Cornelius Turner’s face changed drastically. Having followed Griffith Squire for so many years, for Griffith Squire to say it won’t kill him, the injury must be severe. Ordinary minor injuries don’t even count as injuries to him.
"The doctor and ambulance are here. I’ll help you get on, then call Miss." Cornelius Turner supported him towards the ambulance, knowing that Griffith Squire was proud; he’d rather walk upright with one last breath than be laid down and sent into the ambulance.
"Leah should have already received the news." Griffith Squire finished speaking, took a breath, realizing the other party was timing the release perfectly because Richard Shaw had pressured them from outside. 72 hours is the limit of detention; exceeding this time, the outside pressure would crush them.
Just dreaming if they thought they could get valuable information from him in 72 hours. The secrets he carried couldn’t be spoken in 72 hours.
"Spread the news, saying my injuries are severe, that I’m at death’s door." The man spoke coldly. Those bastards who dared to lay hands on him would be slowly tortured to death; he had ways to deal with them.
"Alright." Cornelius Turner nodded, seeing Griffith Squire not heading towards the ambulance but getting into his own car. He dared not stop him, quickly got in the car and headed to the hospital, meanwhile dialing Leah.
Griffith Squire’s situation was bad, but not truly at death’s door. It was just the aftereffects of interrogation; his whole body’s muscles were aching.
The man got into the car, leaned back in the rear seat, and slightly closed his eyes that seemed chilled.
Cornelius Turner saw that his face was terribly pale and quickly said, "Boss, rest for a bit, do you want to have an emergency needle first to relieve the pain?"
Griffith Squire shook his head and rasped, "Tell me the situation."
"Miss is safe, Richard Shaw was released three days ago, his power stripped directly, though openly weakened and deprived of power, the Shaw Family fell significantly, yet in secret, their social connections and prestige remained intact, still holding considerable influence. Richard Shaw said the boss would be released within 72 hours, and so it was."
Cornelius Turner also described the Cox Family case’s final ruling.
Upon hearing this, Griffith Squire sneered, claiming his father’s death resulted from a heart attack, not daring to mention the great purge over twenty years ago, nor the cause of Richard Shaw’s father’s death, let alone the huge sum of money involved. The authorities still lacked courage.
All their courage used on digging secrets from him. Ha, but the only good news is that his father’s reputation as a great embezzler was finally cleared.
"Although much truth was concealed, at least the Cox Family’s corruption case was reversed, boss, your long-standing wish is fulfilled." Cornelius Turner wanted to express, don’t be persistently deluded anymore. This trip almost cost your life, if not for the Shaw Family watching outside, anyone else would’ve been dead.
"Don’t worry, I remember who bit me, slowly we’ll settle accounts." Griffith Squire laughed coldly, those grandsons thought they could hide behind the scenes and remain unscathed. He clearly knew who was trying to extract secrets from him and for what motive, if accidentally guessed wrong, sorry, collateral damage, not responsible, it’s their misfortune.
"And how is A-Ching’s side?" Griffith Squire frowned. The cold laughter pulled at his wound, making his face even paler.
Cornelius Turner glanced at his injury, his eyes slightly evasive, and said, "Miss Leng is staying at the Leng Mansion. I’ve sent twelve brothers to guard, nothing will happen."
Griffith Squire relaxed upon hearing this. Just half a month, there shouldn’t be any trouble in Brocade City. Those so-called prestigious families are short-sighted; if they dare take advantage of his absence to bully his lover, he would retaliate fiercely.
Cornelius Turner stepped on the accelerator hard, racing towards the hospital nonstop.
Meanwhile, at Shaw Mansion, just before Griffith Squire’s release, Richard Shaw received a call. The man listened quietly, then hung up, calling Leah.
"Leah, go get a coat, your brother is out." The man stood in front of the carved wooden window, speaking in a deep voice. His tea-colored eyes held a trace of contemplation, "Your brother has undergone interrogation, seriously injured. We are heading straight to the hospital."
Leah was at home helping Casimir Shaw select a school for the next semester’s transfer. Busy with Richard Shaw’s matters lately, Casimir Shaw had been neglected, luckily accompanied by the Leclair Family’s son and daughter, Casimir Shaw was sensible and well-behaved.
Upon hearing this, Leah put down the booklet of Imperial City’s various schools’ information she was organizing, stunned for a moment, and asked, "My brother’s out?"
"Yes." Richard Shaw nodded, walked over, holding her slightly cold hand, spoke calmly, "Don’t worry, he’s injured, doctors and an ambulance are waiting at the door. We will rush over now."
Leah nodded quickly and dashed outside, forgetting to grab her coat.
Without a word, the man picked up both his and Leah’s coats, spoke to Casimir Shaw, "I’ll go see your uncle, stay home and accompany your great-grandmother, alright?"
"Okay, Old Shaw, drive safely!" Casimir Shaw, with big dark eyes, stood at the door, waved, and said.
The man smiled, touched the boy’s head, then caught up with Leah.
The two hurriedly arrived at the hospital. Griffith Squire had already entered the operating room. Cornelius Turner, standing outside, saw Leah and Richard Shaw arrive, finally resting his heart, urgently saying, "Miss, the boss just entered the operating room, all due to interrogation methods."
Upon hearing this, Leah’s eyes instantly watered, her fingertips slightly trembling.
Richard Shaw gently wrapped his arms around her slender shoulders, confidently speaking, "These methods are not life-threatening. Griffith Squire has seen life and death, he can endure this hardship."
