Chapter 44: Chapter 44: Nathaniel Sloan Took a Knife for Her
Nathaniel Sloan couldn’t find the words to describe his feelings.
He had rushed to the kindergarten, and the first thing he heard was that the Kings wanted to strip Mia’s clothes off.
Luke White quickly investigated the entire incident, and Nathaniel Sloan’s expression grew even colder.
Christian’s eyes lit up, and he rushed over to hug Nathaniel Sloan. "Daddy, they bullied Mia, and they bullied me too."
Nathaniel Sloan strode over to Mia and scooped her up. He finally relaxed upon seeing she was safe and sound.
"Mia, are you okay? It’s Daddy’s fault. Daddy was late. Don’t be scared."
Mia Lockwood blinked, casually pinching her fingers together to make a quick divination.
’I’m fine, but it looks like the King Family is in for a world of hurt.’
And indeed, Nathaniel Sloan had no intention of letting the King Family off the hook.
Mrs. King shrieked, "Who the hell are you? Do you have any idea who I am?!"
Walter King also wailed, "Mommy, help! I’m Young Mr. King! Do you know about the King Family? Go die! All of you, just go die!"
Nathaniel Sloan sneered, glancing sideways at Mrs. King, who was sprawled on the floor. His tone was icy. "The King Family?"
Luke White bowed. "The King Family from the south side of Crestfall."
Nathaniel Sloan’s gaze was indifferent. Luke White immediately understood, made a single phone call, and the ownership structure of the King Group instantly underwent a seismic shift.
Mrs. King was completely oblivious. She was still throwing her weight around, shouting, "Scared now, are you? If you let me go now, I might just spare your worthless life!"
Walter King also clamored, "Who are you?! Mind your own business! I was going to strip Mia Lockwood’s clothes off, not yours!"
Nathaniel Sloan said nonchalantly, "Beat them."
Everyone was stunned. They never expected this man to resort to violence the moment he walked in.
However, before Luke White could make a move, a figure rushed in and swiftly slapped Mrs. King and Walter King across their faces.
Mrs. King was aghast. "Honey, what are you doing here? Why did you hit me?!"
"After the trouble you two have caused, you have the gall to ask me that?!"
President King had rushed over after hearing the news and nearly fainted. He forced himself to stay upright and almost knelt before Nathaniel Sloan.
"Mr. Sloan, Mr. Sloan, please spare me! It’s these two who are tactless fools! Don’t worry, I... I’ll divorce her as soon as I get home, and I’ll disown this son! I don’t want him! I don’t want him!"
Mr... Mr. Sloan?
Mrs. King, still kneeling on the floor, suddenly froze. Terror flooded her mind.
’In all of Crestfall, how many Sloans were there who commanded the title of ’Mr. Sloan’?’
President King never would have imagined that his son attending kindergarten could lead to his own bankruptcy. freeweɓnovel.cøm
’Of all the people to pick on, he had to go after Nathaniel Sloan’s daughter! And even bully her! My son is only five, and he’s already turned out like this!’
Rage surged in President King’s heart, and he viciously slapped Mrs. King across the face twice more. "I told you to discipline our son, but you wouldn’t listen! You had to spoil him! Now we can all just wait to die!"
’Nathaniel Sloan... Mia Lockwood is actually Nathaniel Sloan’s daughter?! Then... then Noelle Lockwood...’
As if suddenly remembering something, Mrs. King’s eyes lit up. She crawled on her knees to Noelle Lockwood, clung to her, and wailed:
"Mrs. Sloan, please help! Save the King Family! We... we weren’t the ones who insisted that Young Mr. Christian and Miss Mia apologize. You were the one who said those two children were misbehaving, so I... I only..."
Noelle Lockwood was furious.
But to her dismay, Nathaniel Sloan had already turned his head to look at her.
His expression was cold and naturally intimidating. "Mia and Christian were bullied, and you wanted them to apologize?" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Cold sweat beaded on Noelle Lockwood’s forehead, her gentle and graceful image from before completely gone.
"Nathaniel, I just wanted Christian to get along with his classmates. I... I thought it was just children playing around. Young Mr. King is still so young, it might just be Mia Lockwood’s side of the story..."
Nathaniel Sloan’s gaze grew increasingly cold. "Her side of the story?"
Noelle Lockwood broke out in a cold sweat from fear, but she still had to force herself to say:
"Because... because no one else saw Mia being bullied, but everyone witnessed Christian and Zachery Lockwood hitting someone. I just thought there might have been a misunderstanding somewhere..."
"How generous of you, Miss Lockwood!"
Suddenly, a woman’s voice cut in, interrupting Noelle Lockwood.
Estelle Lockwood and Director Miller walked into the office together.
Estelle Lockwood’s expression was icy. She ordered the bodyguard behind her, "Go. Strip Noelle Lockwood’s clothes off."
Noelle Lockwood shrieked, "Dr. Lockwood, what do you think you’re doing!"
Estelle Lockwood said coolly, "Since Miss Lockwood says stripping clothes is just child’s play, I’ll play a game with you."
"Nathaniel, save me..." Noelle Lockwood was sobbing uncontrollably. "I really didn’t know. I just naively believed Mrs. King’s words. I was only trying to help. How could Dr. Lockwood do this to me..."
After two minutes of her crying, Nathaniel Sloan gave a quiet order: "Take her away and send her back to the Lockwood Family. Without my permission, she is not to appear before me again."
Estelle Lockwood sneered and looked away.
Mia took the opportunity to run into her arms. "Mommy!"
Two of the preschool teachers also came forward to explain, "Mia’s mother, you’re finally here. Please don’t misunderstand Mia’s father. It’s a good thing he arrived in time, otherwise the consequences would have been unthinkable."
Estelle Lockwood froze and instinctively looked at Nathaniel Sloan.
’He didn’t come here to defend Noelle Lockwood? He actually came to help Mia?’
Nathaniel Sloan could tell what she was thinking with a single glance and couldn’t help but frown.
’Is that really how she sees me? Is my image that terrible in her eyes?’
"As long as everyone’s okay, that’s all that matters. Mr. Sloan, Mrs. Sloan, please rest assured, we will definitely expel Walter King and get justice for Mia!" a teacher promised.
Estelle Lockwood snapped back to reality, a wave of fear washing over her. Her phone had died half an hour ago, and it was Henry Kendrick who had burst into her studio to find her after hearing the news.
She had then rushed over without a moment’s delay. Thankfully...
"Mommy, don’t worry. I was never going to be in any trouble."
Mia pouted. "When Walter King locked me in the bathroom, I saw the aura of ruin around him. I didn’t even need to do a divination to know his family was finished."
With that one sentence from Nathaniel Sloan, the King Family would not only be unable to survive in Crestfall from now on, but they would likely find it impossible to ever make a comeback even in all of Croatia.
No matter how resentful President King felt, he could only swallow his anger.
Just as Estelle Lockwood was about to take Mia home to rest, suddenly—
"AAAHHH, GO DIE! ALL OF YOU, JUST GO AND DIE!"
Walter King suddenly grabbed a fruit knife from nearby and charged straight for Mia!
Estelle Lockwood’s eyes turned cold, but she couldn’t dodge in time. She could only instinctively shield Mia in her arms, intending to block the knife with her own body—
But the pain she expected never came. She and Mia both fell into a warm embrace.
A warm liquid slowly dripped onto her hand...
"Mr. Sloan!"
"Quick, quick, call an ambulance! Mrs. Sloan, you’re a doctor, please help! Staunch Mr. Sloan’s bleeding!"
Estelle Lockwood’s eyes slowly widened.
The fruit knife was embedded in his wrist, and blood was pouring out.
Her heart went THUMP THUMP THUMP, beating faster and faster, as if it were about to leap out of her chest.
’Nathaniel Sloan... he took a knife for me.’
’Why?’
Estelle Lockwood’s mind descended into chaos. The name ’Nathaniel Sloan’ completely filled her thoughts, making her deaf to the sounds around her.
"Dr. Lockwood."
She didn’t know how long she’d been dazed, but a cool male voice suddenly spoke up. Nathaniel Sloan calmly raised his injured hand, gesturing with his eyes toward the bandages nearby. "A little help?"
