Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Estelle Lockwood Was So Heartless Back Then
The event was underway, and quite a few parents and their children had already gone to experience the paternity testing activity. The whole kindergarten was bustling with energy.
Mia was the kindergarten’s little social butterfly; almost the entire class were her good friends.
The other parents had, more or less, heard about Mia from their own children.
So, when they saw Estelle Lockwood arrive with Mia, they all came over to say hello.
"Mia’s mom! Wow, you have three kids?"
Estelle Lockwood froze. For some reason, her mind drifted to the child she had lost in the fire.
Before she could answer, Mia nodded. "Yep, yep."
The parent looked at the three children and said, "It’s a shame that for today’s paternity testing event, each person can only participate once. Mia’s mom, you’ll only be able to take one of your children to do it."
Estelle Lockwood was taken aback. She had originally planned to have both Zachery and Mia do the test.
Mia’s eyes darted back and forth. "Mommy, let my brother go. I don’t want them to pull my hair out."
"Zachery" also chuckled. "Yeah, Mommy, I’ll do it."
Estelle Lockwood felt something was strange, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
She nodded, walked to the activity area, and did the paternity test with "Zachery."
The plan went off without a hitch. The three children exchanged a look.
The results wouldn’t be out for a week, so they weren’t in a rush.
Christian was thrilled. ’In one week, I can officially reunite with Mommy!’ freēwēbnovel.com

Meanwhile, Noelle Lockwood returned to the Lockwood estate. Unable to maintain her gentle facade any longer, she let out a scream and swept everything off the table!
"Get out! All of you useless fools, get out of my sight!"
The servants jumped in fright and hurried away. Outsiders all said Noelle Lockwood was cultured and gentle, but only the long-serving staff of the Lockwood household knew what she was really like.
After smashing everything, Noelle Lockwood went crying to Rose Lowell.
Rose Lowell had also heard about what happened at Celestar Commercial Center. She gritted her teeth. "Why is that bitch Yara Lockwood so dead set on targeting you! And Vivian, honestly! Over a hundred million... where are we supposed to get that kind of money to pay her back!"
During the plagiarism scandal, Noelle Lockwood had to pay Yara Lockwood over two hundred million, and now it was another hundred million.
The company had also taken a huge hit. It seemed someone was secretly acquiring shares, and the Lockwoods all knew things weren’t going well for the Lockwood Group.
Noelle Lockwood pursed her lips, hinting, "Mom... don’t you think that ever since Yara Lockwood came to Crestfall, our Lockwood family has had nothing but bad luck?"
"First, Christian started to loathe me, and Nathaniel kicked me out of Imperial Crest. Then came the exorbitant settlement payments, and now our shares..."
Rose Lowell calmed down. "Now that you mention it, you’re right. Could Yara Lockwood be targeting us on purpose? But there’s no bad blood between us. Why would she do that!"
Seeing that Rose Lowell had taken the bait, Noelle Lockwood’s eyes darted about. "Mom, there’s something... I don’t know if I should tell you."
"If you have something to say, just say it."
Noelle Lockwood feigned hesitation, biting her lip. "Actually... I think Yara Lockwood might be... Estelle..."
Rose Lowell’s eyes flew wide. "What!"
Noelle Lockwood’s lips were pressed into a tight line, her face streaked with tears. "Mom, I think Estelle might not have died back then. You know she always felt that I stole her place, so she hates me, and she hates the Lockwood Family..."
This wasn’t some wild guess on Noelle Lockwood’s part; she truly believed that woman was Estelle Lockwood!
Noelle Lockwood put on a helpless act. "Mom, if Yara Lockwood really is Estelle, then... maybe I should just leave. I’ll cut ties with the Lockwood Family. It would be better than having your own biological daughter hate all of you so much..."
Sure enough, this display of vulnerability sent Rose Lowell into a blind rage.
"Why the hell should you be the one to leave! That bitch stopped at nothing to kill you back then, and now she dares to come back for revenge? She’s the one who should get lost! That goddamned wretch! No, I have to drive her away, no matter what!"
Seeing her objective was met, Noelle Lockwood quickly added, "Mom, I can’t be sure. Besides, if she really is Estelle and you drive her away, everyone will think I’m a terrible person. They’ll say you’re favoring me, your adopted daughter, to the point where you can’t even tolerate your own flesh and blood..."
Rose Lowell was livid. It was obviously Estelle who couldn’t stand Noelle! Did Noelle have to suffer all this unwarranted misery just because she was the adopted daughter?
Suddenly, an idea struck Rose Lowell, and her eyes began to shift. "Don’t you worry, Noelle. Mom has a plan!"
...
Nathaniel Sloan went to the kindergarten anyway.
He watched the parents inside happily participating in activities with their children, his expression unreadable.
Luke White fell silent.
’For some reason,’ he thought, ’the boss looks like a spurned husband who’s come to drag his wife home. You can practically feel the resentment rolling off him.’
’It makes sense, though. Young Mr. Christian and Miss Yara are having a grand time, while he, the actual father, is stuck out here.’
’Tragic.’
Just as Luke White was about to suggest Nathaniel go inside for a look, Nathaniel’s phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID and narrowed his eyes.
"Father."
The person on the other end was Ethan Sloan. The father and son didn’t speak often, and Ethan rarely called him.
Although Nathaniel Sloan was born into wealth, wanting for nothing, he had never been close to his parents. Within the Sloan Family, he was actually closer to his grandfather, Old Mr. Sloan, and his aunt.
Ethan Sloan got straight to the point. "Nathaniel, Noelle is a celebrity, and she’s connected to the Sloan Family. How could you humiliate her like that in front of everyone?"
Nathaniel’s eyes were cold. "Did Noelle Lockwood go crying to you?"
Ethan Sloan frowned. Rose Lowell had called Laura Jennings, and Laura had come running to him with the story. That was the only reason he knew about it.
Although Noelle Lockwood hadn’t been directly involved, a man like Ethan Sloan could see right through it.
So, in a way, Nathaniel wasn’t wrong. It was, in effect, Noelle Lockwood who had come to him to complain.
Ethan Sloan didn’t deny it. "That’s not the point. The point is... Nathaniel, I heard you’re pursuing Yara Lockwood?"
The air fell still. A chill crept into Nathaniel’s eyes as he answered in a hoarse voice, "I am."
Ethan Sloan’s tone shifted. "I also heard... that Yara Lockwood and Estelle Lockwood are the same person?"
This, of course, was another hint from Rose Lowell to Laura Jennings. Laura was too much of a fool to understand it, but Ethan Sloan had read between the lines.
Rose Lowell despised her own biological daughter and wanted to use the Sloan Family’s influence to get rid of her.
Although Ethan Sloan despised the Lockwood Family’s methods, he couldn’t let Estelle Lockwood back into Nathaniel’s life either.
"If Yara Lockwood is just Yara Lockwood, I have no problem with you pursuing her. But if she is Estelle Lockwood, then it’s absolutely out of the question!"
Nathaniel’s eyes were glacial. "And what if you object?"
Ethan Sloan’s voice rose. "Old Mr. Sloan was the one who insisted on that marriage in the first place, and you were against it from the beginning. That being the case, why are you so determined to reconcile with that woman now?"
"Besides, have you forgotten how ruthless Estelle Lockwood was? Have you forgotten everything she did? Christian was nearly burned to death, and my other two grandchildren died in that fire! And her? She set the blaze and just walked away!"
"If Estelle Lockwood had died five years ago, I could still have acknowledged her as my daughter-in-law. I could have assumed she took her own life in a moment of despair."
"But if she didn’t die, it means she set fire to kill her children, caused a catastrophe, and threw the Lockwood and Sloan families into the eye of a media storm. What does that make all of this? It proves the woman is a conniving, heartless monster!"
"And another thing—those two children she has with her, Zachery and Mia. Have you ever stopped to consider who their father is?!"
Nathaniel Sloan’s grip on his phone tightened abruptly.
