Chapter 18: Endless nightmare
Yuki’s words left him dumbfounded because he remembered how heated he was at that moment. The thought really crossed her mind. While his mind scrambled for a retort a calm voice cut through the tension.
"What is going on here?" Kaden froze instantly and Yuki’s head snapped to the side meeting another pair of sapphire eyes. Kieran’s face was hidden in the shadows but the look in his eyes made her stomach freeze.
Kieran stood at the end of the corridor, his gaze settling on the scene before him.
Yuki stood pressed against the wall; her blonde hair was slightly messy, and her ch were flushed with anger. Kaden towered over her, one arm braced against the wall beside her head, blocking any space between them. The scent of cigarette smoke lingered thickly in the dim hallway, mixed with something sharper. A raw tension underneath.
The scene left him dumbfounded at first. The ambiguity of their position but soon the shock was replaced with confusion. Kieran’s expression remained unreadable showing nothing of what he felt staring at the bizarre situation but the thought still came flooding in.
Why were they standing so close?
More importantly, why did it look like Kaden had cornered her?
Kaden froze the instant Kieran’s voice cut through the corridor. His jaw clenched instinctively. Could this night get any worse. He tried to play it ?ool but he really couldn’t help but wonder
How much did he hear?
The thought of Kieran overhearing him and Yuki terrified him but he played it cool.
His body stiffened slightly though he quickly masked it. The irritation from moments ago mixed with something far more uncomfortable. Kieran’s timing could not have been worse.
Nobody said a word for a moment.
The silence stretched long enough for the distant ticking of the grand clock downstairs to become noticeable.
Kieran’s gaze slowly moved between them. Yuki looked furious and Kaden looked like a mess even if he tried to mask it. Among the brothers Kaden had always been the easiest to read because of his hot tempered personality
Kieran’s jaw tightened "What is going on here?" he repeated, his voice was calm but firmer this time.
The authority in it landed heavily. Kaden stepped back immediately, finally creating distance.
Yuki let out a humourless scoff, "Maybe ask your brother," she sneered not bothering to hide her contempt.
Her voice carried exhaustion beneath the anger. She pushed herself off the wall and turned away without waiting for permission to leave.
The moment she moved, her uneven steps became obvious. She limped slightly, but enough for Kieran to notice. Her footsteps echoed against the marble floor as she disappeared down the corridor without looking back.
Neither brother moved after she was long gone. The silence returned. Kieran kept his gaze fixed on the hallway long after Yuki vanished, his brows pulling together faintly before he finally looked at Kaden.
"Are you going to talk or not?" he asked.
His tone remained even, but there was weight behind the words. Kaden forced himself to relax. Kieran was always too observant for his own good.
He shoved both hands into his pockets and shrugged like the entire thing meant nothing. "It is nothing important," he replied. "Just reminding the brat she cannot waltz in here whenever she wants."
He avoided eye contact. "Excuse me," he added casually. "I am heading out for patrol."
He brushed past Kieran or at least tried to. "It does not seem like nothing." Kieran’s voice stopped him.
Kaden halted mid-step his jaw clenched. He refused to glance back but Kieran’s gaze was unnerving. Kaden shoulders stiffened and he slowly glanced over his shoulder.. "What are you trying to say?" he said casually.
Kieran tucked one hand into his pocket and stepped forward. The dim hallway light cast shadows across his face, making his expression harder to read.
"You have been waiting here all night," Kieran said quietly.
Kaden’s jaw flexed.
"And whatever was happening between you two," Kieran continued, his eyes narrowing slightly, "did not look simple."
He did not say more. He did not need to. The implication of his words hung heavily between them. Kaden understood exactly what his brother meant.
For a second, something unreadable crossed his face. A subtle annoyance then it disappeared.
"You are overthinking things," Kaden said flatly. He said in a dismissive tone Without waiting for another question, he turned and walked down the corridor.
His footsteps faded into silence.
Kieran stayed where he was. His eyes remained fixed on the direction Kaden had disappeared.
His jaw tightened slowly then he slowly exhaled rubbing a hand against the back of his neck.
Whatever had happened here, Kaden was hiding something. And for some reason, that thought irritated him more than it should have.

The door shut with a slam, Yuki slid against it placing her hand on her chest. She could still feel her pounding her underneath. It terrified her more than she could imagine.
Her jaw clenched just remembering Kaden yet she was terrified by Kieran’s appearance. What’s wrong with me? She wondered feeling like a wreck.
She shook her head trying to shrug off the thoughts she didn’t give a fuck about the brothers. In the end she pushed everything aside and prepared for bed
Knock
Knock
The knocking sounds rang in the room. A groan escaped Yuki’s lips. The pounds sounds got louder and before could react the door was pushed open. Her head was ringing from the sound
Yuki tried to open her eyes trying to figure out what was happening when a douse of cold water was poured on her. Her body jolted awake fully.
"What the fuck?!" She snapped sitting upright coming face to face with 3 maids. Their eyes were narrowed at her with disdain. Yuki was drenched through, her hair stuck to her skin and she just could not understand what they were doing.
"What do you think you are doing?" She snapped at the maid. A slow smile curled up their lips.
"Waking you up. Yesterday you missed breakfast because you slept in. We didn’t want to repeat the same mistake." The one holding the basin said with a serious expression leaving Yuki stunned
Yuki glanced at the sky, it was barely bright outside. Who wakes someone up by this time of the day? Her fists clenched and she stood up facing the maid. "You want to tell me that you had to wake me up by 6 am on a weekend." She sneered, holding back the urge to laugh
The maid didn’t back down the look of disdain on her face was obvious. "The alphas aren’t having breakfast here and we had to wake you up early to be able to meet up the staff schedule. You don’t expect us to prepare a separate meal for you." She said sounding polite but her words were filled with taunt
"What the hell are you talking about? " Yuki blurted out. "I don’t need your charity you can keep you meal. Get out of my room." She pointed at the door trying to keep her anger contained ..
Her chest was rising with anger but no one moved. The maids eyes narrowed on her. "It seems like you are still sleepy to refuse our kindness. " the leader sneered. "Don’t worry we would help clear your head. " as soon as she said that the other 2 maids grabbed her arms.
Her eyes went wide in stunned surprise. "Let go of me what are you doing " she struggled trying to break free but their hold were like vice.
"You will find out soon. Feel free to scream if you want to." The maid leading them sneered then glanced at the other 2. "Take her away.".. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Without a word she was dragged out of her room still dressed in thin silk robes that was completely drenched. She screamed and struggled until her throat was hoarse but they didn’t stopped.
"Let go of me. My sister would make you pay." She threatened but the maid leading the way only gave her a look like she was dumb.
She was dragged to a door on a wing of the place house she didn’t recognise. The maids stopped and the one leading them smiled at her. "Feel free to tell her." She said before lowering her voice into a whisper. "You should have thought twice before challenging Lady Eloise." Her stomach instantly dropped.
.
The door was pushed open and Yuki was thrown on the floor. Her knees scrapped on the ground. She ignored the pain and stood up rushing to the door. "Please don’t do this. " she begged but the door was shut in her face .
Her body started to trembled. The room was dark, so dark that even as a werewolf she couldn’t see anything and worse it was cold. Her hands were already shaking, she could hear faint laughter from the other side that faded gradually.
The air inside was damp and carried a metallic scent. That’s when the reality of things sank into her. They locked her in a storage cold room.
