Chapter 14: Out of control

Yuki’s lips were clumsy against Kaden’s scorching lips like fire and ice meeting but the moment their lips met, time seemed to stop.

The faint sweetness from whatever candy or mint Kaden had eaten earlier flooded Yuki’s senses. It was addictive the hunger driving her made her lean forward pressing her body against him. freewebnøvel.com

Her body, still reeling from the fall, pressed fully against his on the sun-baked track. Sweat slicked their skin where they touched. His chest was a solid wall of heat beneath her palm, rising and falling rapidly, while the midday sun scorched her back through her thin training shirt.

The scent of him, clean sweat mixed with something darker like cedar and musk, wrapped around her and made her head spin worse than the hunger.

They both froze, they should have shoved each other away then but something weird happened.

Yuki’s breath caught in her throat. She could feel the warmth of his breath mingling with hers, the steady thud of his heartbeat under her hand. His eyes, so close now, flickered with something unreadable. Every cell in her screamed to pull away. This was Kaden. The arrogant bastard who tormented her. But her clumsy lips lingered for one dangerous second, pulled in by that unexpected sweetness. fгeewebnovёl.com

Kaden should have shoved her off. Instead, he noticed how tiny she felt on top of him, her thighs bracketing his hips, her slight frame moulded against his much larger one. Her scent hit him, it was overwhelming and sweet in a way that made his wolf stir uneasily.

A protective instinct twisted with raw desire, something he did not understand and did not want. His hand tightened on her waist before he even realised it, fingers splaying wide as subtle sparks danced across her skin. Tiny electric pulses made her shiver despite the burning heat.

He sat up slowly, pulling her with him until she straddled his lap fully. Their sweaty bodies moulded together even closer. Her breasts pressed against his hard chest, the damp fabric clinging to both of them.

The sun beat down on them, turning the air thick and heavy with lust around them. Yuki’s butt brushed against the unmistakable hardness straining in his pants. It was hot and a jolt shot through her core at the sheer size of him.

He should have pushed her away. His mind roared at him to stop. But his mouth moved before his better judgment caught up. He kissed her back.

A low sound rumbled in his throat as he deepened the kiss with a hunger that stole what little breath she had left. The moment his hot tongue swept into his mouth her brain was fried for good.

It was not aggressive at first, but instinctive, as if his body betrayed him. Yuki got pulled into the moment against her own expectations. The sweetness deepened, drawing her in even as alarm bells rang in her head. Their breaths mingled hotly. Sweat trickled down her spine, mixing with the heat radiating from his skin.

His wolf surged.

Kaden’s breathing changed, growing rougher. His grip on her waist tightened almost painfully. The air around them grew heavier with dominant pressure. His eyes flickered from sapphire to molten gold. Yuki was lost in the kiss she didn’t notice the change or the fact that who or rather what was kissing her wasn’t just Kaden

Her body tingled as the kiss grew hotter and her body started reacting fast in ways she didn’t understand. The heat pooled in her core, his hardness throbbing against her.

Then his fangs elongated just enough to brush her lower lip, piercing the soft flesh. A sharp sting followed by the metallic tang of blood filled her mouth, mixing with the lingering sweetness.

That snapped her out of it.

Yuki’s eyes flew open. Fear and fury exploded through her veins. She shoved hard against his chest, breaking the kiss with a wet sound that echoed in her ears.

"What the fuck are you doing?" she snapped, her voice raw.

Her hand flew before she could think. The slap cracked across his face, snapping his head to the side. The sound rang out sharply over the empty field.

She scrambled off him, but her injured ankle twisted painfully combined with dizziness from hunger completely disoriented her as the reality of the kiss slammed into her. She stumbled, nearly falling again, catching herself on shaky hands and knees.

Kaden sat there for a moment, disoriented. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth where he had accidentally bitten when she shoved him off. He wiped it away with the back of his hand, staring at the red smear on his skin.

His golden eyes slowly bled back to blue as he forced his wolf down. The beast had clawed viciously for control. Something like this had never happened to him before. Not even with Eloise, the girl he was certain was meant to be his. Why the hell did I do that? Shame flooded him first

His wolf had reacted more strongly to her than to the one he believed was his mate. The thought terrified him.

Yuki remained on the ground a few feet away, chest heaving, terrified and furious all at once. Her lips throbbed, swollen and bruised, tasting of blood and him. The sun made the sweat on her skin prickle. Her heart hammered so hard she felt dizzy.

Kaden’s confusion twisted into cold anger. He laughed, a dry and humourless sound, as he rubbed his reddened cheek. He needed to convince himself this was her fault. Some tricks. Anything but the truth that his control had shattered.

"So much for rather picking a rogue," he sneered, his low voice laced with venom. Humiliation burned through Yuki like acid. She looked away, his cheeks flaming with a mix of rage and shame.

Kaden’s fists clenched at his sides. He had always known something was off about her. That delicate, fragile beauty that made men stupid. Just like her sister Aevia had manipulated his father. This had to be some kind of witchcraft. "You are really like your sister. Guess your face is not your only trick."

Yuki’s expression turned ugly with fury. She struggled to her feet, wincing as pain shot up her leg, but refused to stay down. "What the hell are you saying?" she spat, her voice shaking with emotion.

The way she stumbled sent an unwanted surge of protectiveness through him. He had to clench his teeth against the instinct to reach out and steady her. He blamed it on her looks. That same scheming fragility.

He knew his bloody self-control and a flimsy kiss pushed him like that. He laughed as a thought settled on his mind.

"You were the one who kissed me," he growled, stepping closer, "and you still had the guts to slap me? Is this your plan? Playing hard to get? That is worse than being a slut."

Pure hatred flashed across Yuki’s face. She straightened as best she could, ignoring the throb in her ankle and the way her body still hummed from his touch. "You think I would kiss you?" she sneered, voice rising.

"Just because you are a Ravencourt does not make you special. I fell because you pretended Eloise did not bully me and I was running on empty! Stop acting like you are all that. To me, you are just another arrogant bastard who is not even a good kisser." She spat

She rubbed her injured lip, the bruise felt tender under her fingers. Kaden’s gaze dropped to it involuntarily. The swollen, wet shine of it made something dark twist low in his gut. He swallowed hard.

Yuki kept going, too angry to stop or notice his gaze. "If I wanted to manipulate someone with my looks, it would be someone who acts like a true gentleman and does not kiss like an animal."

Something snapped in him.

A low, dangerous growl rumbled from Kaden’s chest. The air around them grew heavier, thick with dominant alpha pressure that pressed down on Yuki’s spine, sending chills racing across her sweaty skin despite the blazing sun. She held her ground, breathing hard, but her legs trembled.

Just then, a voice cut through his mind. ’ Kaden, where are you?’ It was Eloise.

The anger and annoyance in him dulled slightly, like cold water over embers. He exhaled sharply.

"Next time, do not come hungry," he said coldly, turning away. "You still have 20 laps. Today is cancelled."

He did not look back as he walked off, connecting with Eloise through the link. ’ I will be heading to you.’

Yuki watched his broad, retreating back until he disappeared. The moment the suffocating pressure lifted, her strength drained completely. She crumpled to the ground, sitting hard on the warm track surface, legs stretched out.

Her heart raced wildly, a frantic drumbeat she could not calm. Sweat cooled on her skin, making her shiver under the sun. She touched her lips again, still feeling the ghost of his mouth, the sweetness, the sting of fangs, the terrifying way it felt right at the moment.

She bloody hated him. The way he carried himself, the cruelty in his words, the arrogance.

But deep down, in a dark corner she refused to acknowledge, she did not hate the kiss as much as she should have. A tiny part of her had wanted more. And that terrified her more than anything.
