Chapter 31: Midnight Landing I

"I asked around," Julian said casually.

Lyvana raised an eyebrow. "You asked around."

"Yes."

"You asked who?" she demanded. "You know what? Never mind. I don’t think I want to know how your network works."

Julian gave a short laugh.

"Enjoy your lunch. After that get ready, Marco will pick you both up at five."

"Pick us both up?"

"We leave for Singapore tonight, no need to pack anything."

And then the line clicked off.

Lyvana lowered the phone slowly.

"Did he say anything about Singapore?" she asked faintly.

"He did."

Emily’s grief over her boyfriend had now completely evaporated.

"We are going right?" she whispered excitedly.

Lyvana shook her head. "Emy I have to work this weekend."

Emily clasped her hands together and gave her the most exaggerated puppy eyes she could manage. "Please. Do this for me. I need this trip. I need the distraction. This trip will help me get over James. I can’t cry over a man while sitting in a luxury suite, Liv. It’s physically impossible."

Lyvana tried not to laugh...

She failed.

"Fine." She gave up.

Emily shrieked, launching herself forward to hug her.

"I love you!" she declared dramatically. "And if he proposes, say yes before he changes his mind."

Lyvana continued laughing.

Meanwhile far away in Singapore, something sinister was brewing.

Julian entered his room and frowned.

A very attractive woman was lying on his bed, wearing absolutely nothing.

Why the hell does this keep happening to me? He wondered.

Well normally he wouldn’t complain but, his head was in a different place right now... or on a different woman perhaps...

"Get out," he said, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous growl.

She didn’t flinch. Instead, she arched her back, and spread her legs wide like a cheap offering. "I heard you were a difficult man to please, Julian. I’ve always enjoyed a challenge."

He shook his head, feeling a headache brewing behind his eyes. This wasn’t about sex — it never was with these women. It was about power, or money, or the proximity to both.

They always thought they could buy a seat at the table with a bit of skin.

"You have thirty seconds to leave," he said, looking at his watch. "If you’re still here after that, I’m calling security. Also, I will cancel the contract I just signed with your father."

The playfulness vanished from her face, replaced by a sharp, cold realization. She scrambled off the silk sheets, grabbing her discarded dress from the floor.

"You’re a cold bastard," she hissed angrily as she struggled with a zipper.

"That I am," he replied, turning his back to her to pour a drink.

She ran out of the room and almost crashed into Ethan at the door.

"Um, wait a minute," Ethan said, looking confused. "Wasn’t that the director’s daughter... what was she doing in your room?"

"Don’t ask," Julian said, taking a sip of his drink.

Ethan sighed and sat down in a chair across from the bed.

"You know, most men would think you’re the luckiest guy in the city. Beautiful women are literally throwing themselves at you." freēwebnovel.com

"Yea," Julian said. "But it’s getting boring."

Ethan raised an eyebrow. "You’ve got women falling at your feet, and you’re bored?"

"They’re all the same, Ethan. No substance."

Ethan snorted. "You’re a billionaire with a face like that. You want substance, go date a nun."

Julian smiled. "Maybe I will." freewebnσvel.cѳm

"Speaking of which, now that we are done with business, when are we going home?"

Julian smiled. "I invited Lyvana over for the weekend."

Ethan’s eyes went wide. "You did what? Fuck, Julian, your father is going to kill me if I don’t show up with you tomorrow."

Julian poured the rest of his drink and stared at the amber liquid. "I know. I’d love to see the look on his face when I don’t show up."

"It’s not funny. You know how he gets when things don’t go according to his schedule. He’ll have my head on a stake in the front yard."

"Relax, I’ll tell him I disappeared. Lyvana is landing at midnight. We have plenty of time to hit the club first."

....

Marco picked Lyvana and Emily up at five and drove them straight to the airport.

They arrived at a quiet, private airstrip. He stepped out and opened the car doors with a silent nod. Lyvana stepped onto the pavement, the cool evening air hitting her face.

She looked past Marco — and froze.

A sleek white jet sat waiting on the private tarmac. Its polished body shinning beneath the evening light.

Emily’s jaw dropped.

"A private plane?" she breathed.

"Mr. Blackwood is waiting for you in Singapore," Marco said. "I will be escorting you on the trip."

Marco led them towards the plane.

At the entrance, a flight attendant greeted them with a warm smile and gestured inside.

The interior was understated luxury — cream leather seats, polished wood finishes and soft golden lighting that made the cabin feel more like a high-end suite than a plane.

Emily didn’t wait. She sank into one of the oversized chairs, her whole body disappearing into the soft leather. She ran her hand over the polished wood table and let out a long, happy sigh.

"This is the life," she whispered, her eyes wide as she looked around the cabin.

Lyvana gave a small smile. At the same time the Captain emerged from the cockpit.

"Good evening ladies," he said behind them. "I am Captain Vance. It is an honor to have you both aboard this evening. Mr. Blackwood has instructed us to prioritize your comfort above all else. We are cleared for our flight path, and the weather to Singapore is looking exceptionally smooth. If there is anything at all you need during the climb, please do not hesitate to ask the staff."

Lyvana gave a bright smile. "Thank you, Captain."

"We will be departing shortly," he added, before turning back toward the cockpit.

Before long, the engines hummed to life.
