Chapter 183: Ice cream and arrests

At that same time, Lyvana sat having breakfast with lady Glowen.

The two women were discussing Isabel and Damon, who had left earlier that morning for a short trip abroad.

Donovan had gone with them. the adoption had finally been completed and he was now officially Isabel’s son.

The mansion already felt emptier without his laughter echoing through the halls.

"I still can’t believe how attached I became to that child," Lady Glowen murmured with a fond smile as she stirred her tea.

Lyvana smiled softly.

"They’ll be back before you know it," she reminded her gently.

Before Lady Glowen could answer, a pair of arms suddenly wrapped tightly around Lyvana’s shoulders from behind.

"Guess who’s back!" Lyvana instantly recognized the voice and her entire face lit up.

"Emy!"

Emily laughed as Lyvana turned in her chair to hug her properly.

"I missed you so much," Emily complained dramatically before glancing toward the head of the table. "Good morning, Lady Glowen."

Lady Glowen smiled warmly.

"Good morning, dear. You look radiant." Her eyes twinkled knowingly. "Marriage clearly agrees with you."

Emily laughed softly as she slid into the chair beside Lyvana.

"Thank you," she said. "But honestly, I was more excited to see Liv than my own house. Ethan bought us a house by the way. We would check it out later."

Lyvana squealed excitedly and hugged her again. It felt good to see her.

After everything that had happened recently, seeing her best friend felt like finally breathing fresh air again.

"So," Lyvana said immediately, leaning forward with interest, "tell me everything. How was the honeymoon?"

Emily gasped dramatically. "Oh no. Absolutely not."

Lyvana blinked innocently. "What? Why?"

"You are not getting uncensored honeymoon stories at the breakfast table, in front of your grandmother."

Lady Glowen calmly sipped her tea.

"At my age, dear Emily, there’s very little left that can scandalize me."

Emily giggled. "You see why I adore her?"

Lady Glowen smiled before rising gracefully from her seat. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"I’ll leave you girls to your gossip. I have a meeting at the townhouse."

Lyvana nodded. "Don’t work too hard, Grandma."

The second she disappeared, Emily leaned closer dramatically.

"Now," she whispered, "where do I start?"

Lyvana laughed.

But Emily’s playful expression softened slightly as she studied her friend more carefully.

"Have you been eating properly while I was away?" she asked. "And how far along are you now?"

Lyvana smiled faintly.

"Three months and counting."

But the moment she glanced down at her now-empty plate, an unexpected craving suddenly hit her.

Something cold and sweet.

Her eyes brightened mischievously.

"Let’s go get ice cream."

Emily stared at her.

"Ice cream?" she chuckled, setting down the coffee mug she had poured. "Lyvana, you literally just finished breakfast."

"What can I say? I’m a growing girl." Lyvana offered a bright grin.

Emily leaned forward across the table, her eyes narrowing playfully as a smile tugged at her lips.

"A growing girl, huh? Or maybe it’s just your hormones. I hear pregnancy makes people crave the strangest things."

Lyvana arched a brow.

"And where exactly did you hear that?"

"One of those science books."

Lyvana laughed softly and reached for her handbag. "Oh, now suddenly you’re a medical expert?" freёwebnoѵel.com

Emily followed after her immediately.

"I’m serious," she insisted dramatically. "First it starts with ice cream. Then next thing you know, you’re demanding pickles dipped in melted chocolate at three in the morning."

Lyvana shook her head in amusement as they walked toward the front entrance.

"You’ve clearly been reading nonsense," she said.

Emily gasped.

"So you’re saying this isn’t a pregnancy craving?"

"Exactly," Lyvana replied as she opened the front door.

Warm morning sunlight spread across the long driveway outside as they walked toward the car.

Victor was already waiting for them beside it.

As they approached, he quickly opened the back door for them.

Lyvana casually took out her phone and glanced down at the screen.

Still nothing from Julian. A faint crease appeared between her brows.

Then another notification appeared across the screen.

Marco.

They found Catalina.

But Pep escaped.

Lyvana stopped walking, and her expression changed instantly.

Emily noticed. "What happened?"

Lyvana lowered the phone slowly.

"Remember what I told you yesterday?" she asked quietly. "They found Catalina."

Emily’s eyes widened. "Omg, wow. She was actually there?"

Lyvana nodded once.

"Right there in the district."

"Oh my God," Emily breathed, shaking her head. "So it’s true."

Lyvana quickly dialed Marco’s number.

"Marco. I just saw your text," Lyvana said the moment the call connected.

"Yeah, we got her," Marco replied. "The feds have Catalina and Mateo in cuffs. It’s a circus down here, Ms. Lyvana. The media caught the whole thing live."

A faint smile touched Lyvana’s lips. "Then the damage is already done."

"Oh, it’s worse than damage. The Windsor name is getting dragged through the mud in real time."

Lyvana felt a heavy wave of satisfaction settle in her chest, but it was quickly overshadowed by the second half of the message. "And Pep?"

"That’s the problem," Marco sighed, his tone tightening. "He’s gone. He must have used the two of them as a cover to run. That’s what he does."

"We’ll get him sooner or later. Now we move to the second part of the plan."

Marco immediately understood.

"I’ll meet you there."

Lyvana ended the call.

"Did the sniper talk?" Emily asked.

"He did," Lyvana replied calmly as they reached the car. "But someone else hired him. Without finding the contractor first, it’ll be difficult to directly connect Catalina to the attack." Her expression hardened slightly. "Marco said he escaped."

Emily frowned. "So she might still get away with it?"

"For now," Lyvana said quietly. "But not completely. The good news is that Catalina was arrested publicly." A faint, cold smile touched her lips. "By now, her face is probably all over the news as the prime suspect."

Emily gave a low whistle.

"Ouch. That kind of scandal spreads fast."

Lyvana nodded, then leaned back against the seat slightly, her fingers tightening around her phone.

The police did not have enough evidence to keep Catalina locked away permanently.

Not yet, anyway.

At best, this arrest would buy them time. Pressure. Public humiliation.

But Catalina was dangerous.

And dangerous people always found ways to escape consequences when powerful families protected them.

If Lyvana truly wanted this madness to end, she needed to stop fighting Catalina directly.

It was time to speak to the man who raised her.

Mr. Windsor.
