Chapter 156: So damn sexy
He carried her through the sprawling halls of the large mansion.
When they reached the bedroom, he gently lowered her onto the bed.
"I am not sleepy yet," she protested softly, though she didn’t pull away.
Julian did not say anything. He looked down at her lips. He moved his face closer and closer until their faces were almost touching. She thought he was going to kiss her. Instead, he moved his head to the side and whispered into her ear.
"I want you to rest," he whispered softly. It made her whole body shiver. "I need to make some very important phone calls. I will be back in ten minutes."
He stayed there for a second. His skin almost touching hers. Then he stood up and walked away.
Lyvana stayed on the bed, looking around the massive room. She took out her phone and called Emily.
Julian arrived in the study, closing the door behind him.
Several partners of Grant Group have collectively breached their contracts with them. This has led to some of the company’s capital being tied up.
If the situation continues to deteriorate, it won’t be long before the company’s stock prices goes down, and the company might suffer heavy losses.
Julian and the Chairman personally went to negotiate with those partners yet nothing changed.
He had a feeling that Adrian, his uncle was involved. But he had no proof.
He had a call scheduled with an informant. This person seemed to have some information which Julian needed.
He looked at his watch. It was time. He picked up his phone and dialed hisu number.
"Do you have it?" he asked as soon as the call connected.
"I have the documents you asked for," the informant said.
"Send me everything you have. Now."
"I will send it as soon as you transfer the amount we agreed on," the voice replied.
"That doesn’t work for me," Julian said firmly. "Send it now. I will check how much the information is worth. Then, you will get your half a million."
There was a long silence on the other end. Julian waited calmly.
"Fine," the informant finally whispered. "Check your email."
Julian hung up and looked at the screen as the files started to download.
He scanned through them, and his eyes grew wide. He saw several bank transfers and stock shares sent from their partners directly to one account number.
There was also an audio file. He played it and heard a voice urging the receiver to move faster. They wanted to bring down TechSphere as soon as possible so their companies will take over.
Julian’s eyes darkened. It wasn’t just a simple betrayal, it was a coordinated strike against the company. It was all there, clear proof of someone’s plot against his father’s company.
Julian’s grip on his phone tightened.
He needed to have the audio analysed and the account number traced. With a few swift keystrokes, he encrypted the files and sent them to Lily. Then closed his laptop.
Now he had only a few more mysteries to solve. John had confessed to his men that a woman ordered him to orchestrate the raid in his warehouse.
Which woman? That was the question. Was it someone working for Adrian? Or someone with her own vendetta?
He had to stay calm. He took a deep breath and walked back toward the bedroom to find Lyvana.
Tomorrow was going to be very interesting.
When he got to his room, Lyvana was already asleep. He took off his clothes and lay down beside her.
In the room on the other end of the estate, Zara was so anxious that she kept pacing the room. She was just a former wife now, and wasn’t in a position to meddle in the Chairman’s affairs either publicly or privately.
This girl being in the house was making her uncomfortable. What if she remembered being kidnapped by Andrew.
If Andrew was caught in this game, he would pull Zara down with him. She stopped pacing and stared out the window toward Julian’s wing. She couldn’t just wait for Lyvana to remember; she had to ensure the girl remained silent, one way or another.
But how?
She moved to the bed, picked up her phone to call Adrian.
The next morning, Lyvana woke up early. After freshening up, she returned to the bedside and sat on the edge of the mattress. She stayed there for a moment, silently watching Julian while he was still sleeping.
He looked so peaceful.
She felt a pang of guilt in her chest. How could she not have remembered him? They shared so much, yet her mind had been a blank slate. Her memories were returning now, arriving in small, blurry pieces like a puzzle being put together.
But a dark shadow remained in her mind. She still couldn’t remember the kidnapping. Every time she tried to think about that day, her head throbbed, and her heart began to race with a fear she didn’t understand. It was like her brain was protecting her from that memory.
She reached out, her fingers hovering just inches from his face. She wanted to touch him, but she was afraid of waking him. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open. Before she could react, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her down toward him.
Lyvana let out a soft cry as she landed against his chest. His arms wrapped around her instantly, holding her close. Their faces were only inches apart, his dark eyes searching hers.
"You’re awake," she whispered.
Julian didn’t say a word. He simply watched her, his expression unreadable but intense.
He reached up and gently brushed a stray hair away from her cheek. He then moved his hand down, lacing his fingers with hers and squeezing gently. frёewebnoѵēl.com
She was so damn sexy, he could feel his hardness just by looking at her.
His gaze dropped to her lips for a brief second before returning to her eyes, seeking a silent permission. Finding no hesitation in her expression, he tilted his head and leaned in to kiss her.
