Chapter 154: Fashbacks

"We’re having dinner at my family home," Julian announced.

"What?" Ethan whispered.

Lyvana’s heart skipped a bbeat "That sounds like a great idea, but..." she started to protest, her nausea coming back.

Julian laughed. "Nothing to be scared of. My father just invited us for dinner. It’s a formal white-flag ceremony."

"The Chairman? A white flag?" Ethan shook his head. "Sounds too good to be true."

"He doesn’t have a choice," Julian said firmly. "I’ve already introduced her to the world. And since the company anniversary is coming up, he can’t risk a scandal. He hates a mess more than he hates my choices."

"I guess," Ethan said. He picked up the car phone to tell the lead security car to change the route. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

Julian said something, but Lyvana couldn’t hear him. His voice began to fade until it was completely silent.

Suddenly, the car was gone.

She was standing in a brightly lit hotel lobby. She was looking up into Julian’s eyes.

"You’re drunk, sweetheart. Do you realize that?" he asked. His thumb grazing her bottom lip, sending a jolt through her. "I am sorry about this."

Then, he leaned down and kissed her deeply.

Snap. She was back in the car. Her heart was racing. Wait... was that a memory? she wondered.

That was the first time they had met.

Before she could catch her breath, it happened again. The car disappeared, and she was in his penthouse. She was standing in front of him, feeling small and vulnerable.

"I think we should set some boundaries," she heard herself say.

"Boundaries," Julian repeated. He let his gaze wander over her. "Probably wise. Though I’d suggest starting with a robe."

The memory was so vivid that Lyvana felt her cheeks turn bright red even now, sitting in the backseat of the car.

"Are you okay?" Julian asked, noticing she had gone quiet.

She looked up at him. Those dark, beautiful eyes were the same ones from her vision. Suddenly, more images flooded her mind. The first time they had made love, then the second, then the third...

Overwhelmed, Lyvana buried her face in the crook of his neck.

Julian pulled her close, his arm wrapping around her.

"Baby, what’s wrong," he whispered.

Emily turned to them looking worried.

"I am beginning to remember," Lyvana said, but her voice was muffled.

Julian pulled her back just enough to look into her eyes.

"What is it baby?" he asked.

"I’m beginning to remember," she repeated, more clearly this time.

In the front seat, Emily let out a long sigh of relief. "Finally," she whispered.

Julian kissed Lyvana deeply. He was relieved the medication had worked.

He tested his forehead oh hers. "What do you remember?"

"Just how we met. And... "

Her voice trailed off. How does she tell him she remembered when they were making love. Just picturing his naked body and the way he touched her made her body feel hot.

"And a few other things," she added.

"That is great baby." His hands moved to her face, his thumbs gently caressing her cheeks.

The car turned into the long, winding driveway of the Grant estate. The estate was lit up like a palace.

The car turned into a long, winding driveway. With all the lights on, the Grant estate looked just like a palace.

The car slowed to a stop in front of the massive stone entrance. After the gates opened, they drove in with their security detail following closely behind.

Julian got out first and offered his hand to Lyvana.

"Ready?" he asked.

"No," she admitted.

His lips curved into a tiny, almost invisible smile. "Good. It’ll be fun. Let’s go give them something to talk about."

Ethan and Emily stayed in the car.

"I’ll come pick you up tomorrow morning," Ethan said with a wink.

Emily leaned forward and gave Lyvana a thumbs up. "Give ’em hell, Liv," she whispered with a grin.

Lyvana smiled back feeling the nausea back down a little as she took Julian’s arm.

The doors swung open before they even reached them. A butler stood there, bowing his head.

"Good evening, Mr. Grant," the butler said. "The Chairman is waiting for you in the dining room."

Julian didn’t say a word. He just nodded and led Lyvana inside.

Before long, they were inside the grand dining room.

The Chairman sat quietly at the head of the table, his eyes fixed on Lyvana. His assistant had already given him plenty of information about her, but there was still a missing piece. He couldn’t find any connection between her and Andrew.

Eleanor and Zara sat at opposite ends of the table. Zara was a bit tensed.

What if she remembered Andrew. Thankfully, he wasn’t at home right now.

"You were sleeping with a married man. Did you know that?" The Chairman didn’t waste time with small talk. He was always direct, and his voice was cold.

He didn’t wait for her to respond. "And you are currently engaged to someone else," he added, leaning forward. "So tell me, why are you with my son?"

Lyvana felt like she couldn’t breathe.

"I..." she started, but her voice trailed off.

Under the table, Julian grabbed her hand and squeezed her fingers.

"She’s with me because I pursued her, Father," Julian said firmly. "And as for my marriage, Catalina and I were over a long time ago. You know that."

The Chairman ignored Julian completely. He kept his eyes on Lyvana. "I think she can speak for herself."

Zara let out a sharp, mocking laugh from her end of the table.

"Maybe she just realizes which man has the bigger bank account. It’s a very simple calculation."

"Not everyone is like you Zara," Eleanor shot back.

"What’s that supposed to mean?" Zara’s face turned red.

"That’s quite enough," the chairman said.

"I am aware of Julian’s marital status, sir," Lyvana said making them turn to her. "But as I understand it, that marriage was annulled. I wasn’t with him when he was married, because he didn’t remember me. So I didn’t take him from anyone. He chose to leave."
