Chapter 2: 2. Cleaning the pavilion
"Achoo, achoo!" Kai sneezed after opening all the windows and purchasing an automatic castle cleaning system.
There was a kind of advanced device that Kai bought from the system, originating from Ardhez, not Earth. So that advanced device ran on magic stones. It cost only one large gold coin—on Earth, that would be worth about $100,000. On top of that, the system gave a 90% discount on the price.
The automatic cleaning device removed all the dust, cleaned the curtains, sofa, bed, walls, and everything else using only sensors. It moved automatically, circling around as it cleaned.
However, the dust it collected was automatically expelled through the window.
That’s why Kai was coughing because of it, especially since his health was already poor.
At that moment, Kai was on the balcony; the cleaning robot approached him and cleaned the balcony as well.
"Thank you," Kai murmured to the robot.
The robot, shaped like a cute cat, flashed its adorable robotic smile, then walked away on its robotic cat legs.
Now Kai looked around him. The view was absolutely beautiful.
There was a small lake in front of him, where several white and black swans were swimming freely.
There was no garden; only a fresh, green forest, shrouded in thick fog.
But Kai had already anticipated all of that, since the system had clearly stated that this was an exile pavilion. frёewebηovel.cѳm
[Please help yourself, master!]
[It’s a whole duck meat seasoned with various spices and roasted at a specific temperature, making it juicy yet with a crispy skin]
[This is a product from one of the largest supermarkets in a popular Asian country]
[The drink is a 2-liter bottle of mineral water as you requested, one of the best mineral waters sourced directly from a spring]
[The price is one small silver coin, or ten large bronze coins]
Kai’s face lit up at the sight of the food laid out on the table in front of him.
He remembered clearly that some large supermarkets offered a variety of foods in collaboration with local eateries.
The various dishes served there were delicious and had gone viral among the local community. Kaiden himself often shopped there because it was convenient.
Kai began to unwrap the food and picked up a spoon and fork. But he didn’t really understand aristocratic table manners, so he gave up quickly.
He washed his hands with clean water, then began to eat with both hands. After all, what he was eating was a whole duck.
Eating the duck with just the right amount of spices, while watching the swans swim in the lake.
It feels so good—oh, what’s that?
Kai furrowed his brow; it was as if he’d spotted something in the distance.
He’d thought he could manage on his own, but it seemed he’d been wrong.
"How am I supposed to find someone to work for me? Someone strong enough to protect me, and someone who also understands this world well—especially when it comes to the kingdom or the nobility," Kai muttered.
[That’s easy, master!]
[You can get almost anything from the supermarket system!]

The system screen changed again, displaying a loading screen. Once the loading was complete, photos appeared, complete with detailed descriptions of the people.
[You can choose among those who suit you, and then the system will issue an official letter from you to them]
While finishing his meal, Kai began reading through them one by one.
The information about the potential servants was quite detailed. It included details about their strength, skills, desired salary, and how loyal they were.
And there was only one person who fit the bill, but that person was currently serving his own father. His name was Keith; he was still quite young and strong, though he limped after being taken into battle by Duke Arslan. His leg was injured that way while protecting the Duke from enemy attacks.
Apparently, he had been wanting to leave his job and was looking for a better one.
But would he be willing to become a servant to Kaileon, this outcast?
A smile began to appear on Kai’s small lips.
"Interesting, I’ll choose Keith! Please prepare a letter for him, System."
[The request letter for Keith has been sent; he may come to see you as early as today, master]
Kai furrowed his brow—did the system work that fast? That’s amazing!
"In that case, I’ll finish my meal in peace."

Keith forced himself to kneel before Duke Arslan, the man who had been his master for ten years since he was fifteen.
He was begging his master to let him leave his job, because he was sick of that place.
Duke Arslan was notorious for being cruel and merciless. He wouldn’t let his servant rest unless it was absolutely necessary.
Even knowing the state of Keith’s leg, which had been broken while protecting his master. Yet his master still wouldn’t let him rest even for a moment.
At first, Keith had only wanted two days off to recover his strength and composure. But it wasn’t allowed.
Because of that, he resolved to quit his job, even though his master didn’t seem likely to grant his request.
"You can stop being my servant, but you must continue working here. As for your leg, I’ve already contacted the greatest healing wizard; you’ll have to wait a month because he’s very busy. Besides, he also needs to come here to examine Kaileon’s condition."
Keith felt frustrated because his request couldn’t be granted. He couldn’t just leave on a whim, because his reputation would suffer if he simply ran away. He still needed another job if he left that hellish place.
Even so, he could understand why Duke Arslan didn’t want him to leave.
In the end, Keith had to swallow his disappointment once more and go to his room.
After sitting on the edge of his bed, he stared at his feet, which had swollen, and it was impossible for him to wait another month. His feet would soon become infected.
Unfortunately, wizards with healing abilities, or those who could brew healing potions, were extremely rare.
If a healing potion existed, it would be priced exorbitantly.
Of course, Keith couldn’t afford to buy it, and his master would never buy it for a lowly servant like him.
It didn’t matter whether Keith had saved his life or not—wait, what was lying on the table?
Keith’s hand reached for the letter lying on the wooden table near his bed.
The letter also had something tied to it. A small glass bottle containing a deep blue liquid.
"Who sent me this letter?" Keith muttered.
He was curious and immediately opened the letter.
His eyes widened after reading the entire contents of the letter, then he stared at the small bottle he was holding.
"No way... a mid-level healing potion?" Keith muttered, his voice trembling.
Young Master Kaileon, whose life was so miserable, offered him a job as his servant and gave him a mid-level healing potion? That’s crazy!
Desperate, Keith immediately drank it without a second thought.
