"Well, I hope so," Jack said with a smile while shaking Anita’s hand.
Next, the two of them started their experiment. Both of them were very focused. Once they started, they were unwilling to be interrupted.
Jack had encountered some bottlenecks in his experiment and wanted to stop and think about it, so he looked at Anita and said, "Do you want to go eat?"
Anita said to Jack, "You can go first. I haven’t finished this experiment. I’ll go later," Jack didn’t force her. He tidied the experiment table and went out.
Anita had a good idea today, so she didn’t want to interrupt her experiment progress, so she rejected Jack. But she didn’t expect Jack to bring her a sandwich and yogurt when he returned from his trip.
"I don’t know what you like to eat, and I’ve never bought anything for a girl, so I brought you a sandwich. You should eat something first," Jack whispered as he handed the food to Anita. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Anita was stunned, then she quickly reached out to take it. "Thank you, Jack."
"Don’t mention it. You’re the one who said that from now on, we’re partners," Jack said sheepishly while rubbing his head.
Anita looked at Jack and nodded with a smile without saying anything.
"Anita, I have a question for you. I wonder if it’s okay to say it," Jack suddenly said.
"Say it." Anita had been eating her sandwich, but stopped when she heard Jack.
"I want to ask how you were chosen to enter that exchange program?" Jack was a little embarrassed and lowered his head after asking.
Before Anita could respond, he quickly said, "It’s okay. It’s okay if you don’t want to say it. I was just a little curious. I went to register too, but I didn’t get chosen, so I wanted to ask you."
Anita smiled at Jack’s words and said, "Everyone has their own views, but my mentor did choose me. I asked my mentor why. He said he thought I would have many new ideas that would be suitable for this project."
After Jack’s doubts were answered by Anita, he immediately stood up and said with a smile, "Yes, I know. As your partner during this time, I can feel that you’re indeed very outstanding."
Anita did not respond. After quickly eating the sandwich in her hand, she returned to the experiment.
Jack was not a talkative person. Seeing that Anita was so focused on the experiment, he did not delay and quickly got busy.
The day passed quickly. When Anita finally looked up from her experiment, she realized that the sky was completely dark outside.
She quickly pulled out her phone and glanced at it, then realized that it was past eight. There was a message from Owen on her phone. "I have to work overtime today, so I can’t pick you up. Go home early yourself."
Anita lowered her head and smiled as she replied to Owen. "Yes, don’t worry. Be safe too."
"Anita, who are you texting? You’re smiling so happily," Jack suddenly asked.
Anita didn’t know how to answer. Although she and Owen were married, should she call Owen her husband? Or boyfriend? She froze.
"I’m sorry, was my question too intrusive?" Jack said awkwardly while looking at Anita’s dazed expression.
"It’s okay. I’m done with my experiment. I’ll get going first." Anita finally didn’t respond to Jack’s question directly. She just said goodbye, stood up, packed her things, and prepared to leave.
By the time Anita walked out of the laboratory, Jack’s eyes were still following her figure. He suddenly felt annoyed since his question just now did not seem very polite.
But seeing Anita smiling so happily, he really wanted to ask.
Although a lot of people in the class said that Anita not only had an unclear relationship with her mentor, but she also had an unclear relationship with a man who often drove her to school in a luxury car, he had a feeling that Anita was not like this. Or rather, in another way, he felt that the type of girls he had always liked were like Anita’s type, so he didn’t believe what others said and asked Anita.
Anita wasn’t sure what Jack was thinking. She walked slowly to the school gate alone and was about to call a taxi to go home, but as soon as she got in the car, an idea came to mind.
She wanted to take a look at Owen’s company.
So she said to the driver, "Sir, I’m not going to the villa. I want to go to Zhengwen IT company."
The driver was not angry when he heard Anita suddenly change the location. He just said, "These two places are opposite. I’ll make a U-turn turn."
"It’s okay. There’s no hurry," Anita said with a smile.
