Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Got Blackout Drunk

Caught off guard, Gu Jue was suddenly pulled by Lu Sangjiu. He lost his balance and was yanked forward, stumbling toward her.

Fortunately, his reflexes were quick. He managed to plant his hands on the rock in time, steadying himself just before he could touch her.

Though he hadn’t touched her, his hands were now braced on either side of Lu Sangjiu, leaving them incredibly close.

He instinctively glanced up, and his eyes landed on her fair, jade-like neck.

For a moment, his mind went completely blank. He just stared, utterly unsure how to react.

The atmosphere was intensely intimate, but the drunken Lu Sangjiu was too out of it to notice.

So, without a hint of shyness, she raised her hand and—WHACK—slapped him on the head. "What are you spacing out for!"

Gu Jue: "..."

The slap snapped him back to his senses. Ashamed of his reaction just moments before, he scrambled to straighten up.

He had just regained his footing when Lu Sangjiu tugged on him again.

This time, however, her pull was more deliberate, yanking him toward an empty spot on the rock.

Gu Jue, who was normally so formidable, now found his limbs stiff for some unknown reason. Like a motionless ragdoll, he could only let Lu Sangjiu pull him back and forth.

He stumbled from the pull and fell onto the rock. He instinctively turned to look at Lu Sangjiu, but his vision blurred for an instant, and suddenly his hands were pinned above his head by just one of hers.

Gu Jue: "..."

Perhaps because the position was so humiliating, his face instantly flushed crimson.

It wouldn’t have been difficult to break free, but she was leaning over him, her entire upper body supported only by the hand pinning him down.

If he struggled, she would likely fall right on top of him.

This kept Gu Jue from moving. With a low growl laced with shame and annoyance, he snapped, "Get up!"

A drunken grin spread across Lu Sangjiu’s face as she looked down at the man she had pinned. "I won’t. Go on, scream. No one will come to save you, even if you scream your lungs out!"

Gu Jue: "..."

He had never been teased like this in his entire life. He felt a mix of anger, annoyance, and a heavy dose of shame.

Before he could decide what to do, Lu Sangjiu suddenly grabbed a jug of wine and began pouring it into his mouth!

"Cough... COUGH COUGH COUGH..."

A large gulp of wine was suddenly forced down his throat, and Gu Jue broke into a violent fit of coughing.

But Lu Sangjiu was so drunk she had no idea how awful she was being. She just giggled and mumbled, "C’mon, drink up! This wine is delicious!"

Gu Jue couldn’t take it anymore. He finally wrenched his hands free from her grasp. As her body fell toward his chest, he swiftly flipped them over, pinning her against the rock.

"Have you had enough?!"

He held her wrists down with one hand, his face showing a hint of fury.

Lu Sangjiu just tilted her head in confusion, asking with a delayed reaction, "Hm? You don’t like the wine?" ƒreewebɳovel.com

Gu Jue: "..."

’He suddenly felt it was pointless to get worked up over a drunk.’

His anger subsided, and he immediately realized how inappropriate his current position was.

As if he’d been burned, he scrambled to his feet and backed away.

Not daring to look at Lu Sangjiu, he took a deep breath. "...It seems I’ve come at a bad time. Farewell!"

He had arrived as elegant and ethereal as an immortal, but he left looking utterly disheveled, his face, clothes, and hair soaked with wine.

The culprit, Lu Sangjiu, was completely oblivious to her outrageous behavior. After Gu Jue left, she didn’t even move, simply falling asleep right there on the rock.

A few moments later, the man who had just stormed off in a huff returned.

Gazing at the peacefully sleeping Lu Sangjiu, Gu Jue was silent for a moment.

’He sighed to himself. ’It’s a good thing I came back. If I hadn’t, leaving her this drunk out in the wild... forget about running into villains, any random demon beast could have come along and eaten her.’’

He felt both angry at and helpless toward this drunkard. He hesitated for a moment, torn between setting up a Barrier and taking her back himself. In the end, Gu Jue walked toward her.

’...A Barrier isn’t a guarantee. I should just take her back.’

But just as he bent down to lift her, the sleeping woman’s eyes snapped open.

Her gaze was sharp and icy with vigilance, but when she saw it was him, the coldness vanished in an instant.

Then she blinked, a dopey smile spreading across her face. "Oh, Mr. Gu. Are you here to drink with me?"

Gu Jue: "..."

Expressionless, he decisively cast a Sleep Spell on her.

Lu Sangjiu’s eyes closed once more, and she fell into a deep, dead sleep.

Letting out a soft breath of relief, Gu Jue finally bent down, lifted her into his arms, and headed for the Seven Emotions Sect’s encampment.

The next day, Lu Sangjiu was woken up by Luo Linlang.

"Little Junior Sister, stop sleeping! Get up, quickly!"

The moment she opened her eyes, she saw Luo Linlang leaning over her bed, staring at her with a fervent gaze.

Lu Sangjiu jumped. "Second Senior Sister, what are you doing?"

"You’re finally awake!" Luo Linlang giggled, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Hurry and tell me, what happened with you and Gu Jue last night?"

"Gu Jue?" Lu Sangjiu was utterly baffled. "What about Gu Jue?"

The Spiritual Wine she’d had last night was certainly top-notch; despite drinking so much, she didn’t feel the slightest bit hungover. However, that clearly didn’t prevent her from blacking out.

Suddenly being questioned by Luo Linlang, Lu Sangjiu was genuinely clueless. She couldn’t even remember seeing Gu Jue the previous night.

Luo Linlang immediately shot her a look of betrayal. "Why are you holding out on me? I saw Gu Jue bring you back with my own two eyes last night! I was so excited I couldn’t sleep a wink. You should be glad I managed to hold back until now to wake you!"

Lu Sangjiu: ???

Seeing that Lu Sangjiu wasn’t faking it, Luo Linlang’s expression fell. "Don’t tell me you really don’t remember?"

Lu Sangjiu shook her head blankly. "I just remember going to the bamboo forest to drink by myself. I never saw Gu Jue."

Luo Linlang was deeply disappointed, so the gossip-seeker had to become the gossip-spreader.

"You were asleep last night, and Gu Jue was the one who carried you back!"

"Plenty of people in the encampment saw him. I was the one who guided him to your tent."

"He told me he found you drunk in the bamboo forest and brought you back."

Lu Sangjiu racked her brain but still couldn’t recall a thing. She couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. ’Has my tolerance really gotten this bad?’

’Although she had no memory of last night, it sounded like Gu Jue had just happened to run into her and performed a simple act of kindness.’

With that thought, she didn’t make a big deal out of it. "Second Senior Sister, stop obsessing over gossip all the time. Gu Jue just likes to help people. Don’t go around spreading rumors and ruining his reputation."

Luo Linlang looked disappointed. "Fine, fine. You’re no fun."

Just as they were speaking, Li Qiancheng arrived.

"Little Junior Sister, I just got word that the Gold and Silver Gate’s decennial Sword Seizing Conference is about to begin. Do you want to go try your luck?"

"The Sword Seizing Conference?" Lu Sangjiu wasn’t particularly familiar with the affairs of Cultivation Sects, so she asked curiously, "What’s that?"
