Chapter 19: The Professor’s Fatal Invitation

The girl continued to look at him with a very cold gaze.

’Who could this be? If she is looking at me, it means she knows something about me.’

’The strange thing is that first Lucian found out about me well enough, and now this girl...’

’Someone definitely knows I’m here and is giving information to other people.’

’But it’s impossible to say for what... For help, or to kill me, or purely for profit...’

’I need to become stronger as soon as possible so that I could fight back against at least an average girl...’

In that same second, all this pressure stopped...

Ruthless immediately looked at that girl again.

But she wasn’t here at all; she had seemingly evaporated.

But the strangest thing was that the people around didn’t seem to notice that someone had been here.

’If she is so strong, there is a possibility that she is the queen of this continent or the sister of Princess Celestia, who, having heard about the love letter, came immediately and found out right away who gave it to her...’

’Objectively it sounds unlikely and stupid, but even the worst option could become true, so there’s no need to relax,’ he thought.

FIVE HOURS LATER

Outside, one could already see the sunset which, before going down, gave everyone a beautiful landscape.

Knock-knock-knock.

Ruthless knocked on the door of Valerian Sterling’s office.

"Who is there?"

"Hello, Professor Valerian Sterling, it’s me, Ruthless, a student of class 1-A. May I enter?"

"Oh, of course."

Ruthless opened the door and entered.

The Professor herself, sitting at her desk, was reading some documents.

’Documents for the upcoming ritual regarding the ancient sword?’ he thought to himself.

"Did you want something, Ruthless?" the professor asked without even looking at him.

"I wanted to ask about the ancient sword..." he replied.

The professor immediately stopped looking at the documents and looked straight at Ruthless.

"Oh, you’re the guy I ran into by chance!" she said with a smile on her face.

’And she knows how to play a role.’

"I think you have many questions; ask, and I will answer, unless of course the questions violate classified information."

’So I won’t be able to get the full information; then I need to give her a bait.’

"I would like to ask, where exactly was this ancient sword found..."

"It was found on an unknown continent," she said.

’What unknown continents?’

"Can you imagine what a sensation it will be when the whole world finds out what we have..." she said with a smile on her face as if she were truly happy.

’I assume that the unknown continents are those places where there is nothing.’

’That is, unexplored. And the known continents, as Nora said, are the 5 continents of the 5 queens.’

"I see. And what can this sword actually do?"

"Well, that is a secret here. I have no right to tell you that," she said with a soft smile on her face.

’Maybe it’s time to give her a bait.’

"And you know what, I was thinking whether you guard it well, like so that some thief wouldn’t steal it...." Ruthless said, looking directly into the professor’s eyes.

But nothing in her flinched.

"Yes, we guard it well, so don’t worry, no one will steal it."

’Something my intuition tells me is that something is not right here...’

’Primal Gaze!’

<Current stats - Valerian Sterling:

’I knew it... She plays her role too well... Judging by the stats, one can say that she literally recently took the Path of the Actor.’

’But with whom or where could she have been?’

’One can assume that she is from one of those two groups of thieves that Lysandra mentioned when I asked about thieves..’

"Well, I think the sword needs to be guarded better; who knows, maybe professors could turn out to be one of the thieves," Ruthless said, not looking into the professor’s eyes.

But then, after 5 seconds where there was no answer, he looked at her.

Her eyes became predatory, and her face suddenly became stony, as if she were already ready to attack him and kill him immediately.

’It’s not even clear here whether she is playing a role or is actually angry right now...’

"Why do you say that?" she said.

"I simply have a suspicion that one of the professors here is a thief, and I know approximately who she is... That’s why I decided to tell you about the good storage of the sword," Ruthless said with a smile.

"And can you tell me who she is?" the professor asked.

Ruthless first looked around, then at the door, and then at the window where it could be seen that it had already grown dark.

"There might be ears here, so...."

In that same second, the professor began moving step by step toward Ruthless, until a tiny distance remained between them.

"Maybe... shall we go to my place then? I’ll treat you..." she said with a smirk.

’Does she want to play on my lust right now?’

"Don’t be shy, I have good treats there..." saying this, she approached Ruthless, pressing her chest against his body.
