Chapter 53: Bizzare Bazaar (3)
Shinon’s heart raced as the zombie bear towered over him, its massive jaws dripping with saliva. Shinon had never faced such a formidable opponent before, and he knew this might be his last battle.
The bear swung its massive paw, and Shinon barely managed to dodge in time. He rolled to the side, trying to get back on his feet, but the bear was too quick. It lunged forward, grabbing Shinon in its jaws and tossing him like a ragdoll.
Shinon’s movements were growing sluggish with every passing moment. But getting bit by the bear certainly did a number on him.
Shinon crashed to the ground, his bones rattling with the impact. He struggled to get up, but his body was battered and bruised. The bear closed in, ready to finish him off.
’There has to be a way out of this situation...’
Shinon’s mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of this situation. He reached deep inside himself, drawing on his inner reserves of strength and power.
He summoned his shadowmancer abilities, channelling all his energy into one final attack. Shadow tendrils shot out from his fingertips, wrapping around the bear’s massive legs and pulling it to the ground.
As soon as the bear was down, Shinon grabbed his words like a javelin and threw it straight at the creature’s head. The bears squealed in pain before slowly slumping to the ground.
For a moment, Shinon thought that he had won. But then the bear started to thrash its huge claws around. Soon the bear’s massive size overpowered Shinon’s shadow tendrils, and it roared in anger, breaking free from Shinon’s grasp.
Shinon scrambled to his feet, ready to face the beast once again. But he was too late. The bear swung its massive paw, and Shinon felt the full force of the blow.
Shinon heard countless bones in his body snap as he got thrown away again like a ragdoll. He hit the ground with a sickening thud, his vision blurred, and his body battered and broken, not knowing why he failed again and again, despite doing all he could.
Shinon gasped for air, struggling to stay conscious. The bear loomed over him, ready to finish him off once and for all.

Shinon knew that he had no chance of surviving this attack. He closed his eyes, accepting his fate. But then he heard a voice calling out to him from the darkness. It was Kira, and she was calling his name.
"Shinon! Don’t you dare give up on us!" She yelled from a distance. "I swear I’ll never cook for you ever again if you don’t get your ass back up right now! And yeah, cooking includes brewing a Berry tea!"
’The fuck is she on about now...’ Even through his pain, Shinon couldn’t help but smile at the absurdity of the situation.
Regardless of it, Kira’s words were enough for him to snap out of his tranced state. He summoned all of his strength, pushing himself to his feet. He looked at Kira, her face filled with fear and determination.
The bear stared at Shinon as he got up before raising its paws again to strike him down. However, before it could hit Shinon, the latter enveloped himself in a shadowy cocoon.
The bear, frustrated by Shinon’s useless attempts at saving himself, roared before smashing the cocoon with all its might. But as the cocoon collapsed, Shinon emerged from it without his injuries and immediately punched the bear in the face, pushing it a few steps back.
[The ability: Shadow Heal, is in effect.]

[Warning! All of the user’s Domination points have been consumed to heal their wounds.]
Although the loss of Domination points was a bummer, it was better than losing his life. Either way, he could recover from the loss in a matter of days, so it wasn’t a big deal. However, he now had to be careful, as he needed more points to use [Shadow Heal] again.
"It’s good enough." Shinon smiled at the bear before raising one of his legs before him. "Ready for round two?"
With his shadowmancer powers at his disposal, Shinon moved swiftly around the bear, dodging its massive paws and razor-sharp claws, emerging and disappearing inside the bear’s shadow and striking it from every direction.
As the bear began to thrash around, Shinon summoned the shadowy tentacles again to at least try and hold the creature in place.
The bear roared in anger, trying to break free, but Shinon’s powers were too strong. He used his shadows to wrap around the bear’s mouth, preventing it from biting him. He then unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, each fueled by [Shadow Enhancement].
The bear struggled and fought back, but Shinon’s punches and kicks landed with precision and strength. He could dodge every swipe and attack from the bear, using his agility and relatively small size to his advantage.
As the fight went on, Shinon’s powers grew more vigorous. He was able to tap more into his shadowsmith abilities to fuel his attacks and summoned a plethora of weapons to attack the beast passively.
As he fought on, his movements became faster and more precise. The bear started to tire out, and Shinon knew it was time to finish the fight.
He leapt onto the bear’s back, grabbing its fur with his left hand while his right hand glowed with shadow energy. He plunged his hand into the bear’s back, channelling his power directly into its body.
The bear roared in agony, its body convulsing as Shinon’s shadowy tendril coursed through the bear’s body. Soon enough, the tendril reached his sword embedded in the bear’s head, pulling the blade deeper into the skull till it ripped everything in half.
Shinon held on tight, not letting go until the bear finally lay still, its body lifeless. Shinon let out a deep breath, his body trembling with exhaustion. He looked at Kira and Rico, both staring at him in awe.
"You okay?" Shinon asked, his voice hoarse.
Before either of them could respond, a sudden movement caught their attention as a sharp object shot out of the bear’s body, hurtling towards Kira with alarming speed.
Without hesitation, Rico pushed Kira out of the way, but unfortunately, he could not evade the projectile himself, and it struck him directly in the chest.
