Chapter 195: Secrets

With his <Combat Instinct> skill guiding his every move, Shinon confronted the Necrognasher, their final clash on the brink of reality and nightmare.

The creature’s presence oozed malevolence, its decaying form a grotesque manifestation of death’s relentless grip. Shinon’s heart raced, his senses heightened by a surge of determination that burned brighter than ever.

"If that’s not an Alpha, then I don’t know what is," Shinon mumbled. "Guess I would need to have a talk with Sable about her scout’s reliability."

The Necrognasher let out a bone-chilling growl, its eyes fixed upon Shinon with a predatory glint. Its massive bone sword gleamed with a sinister aura as it swung toward him, a deadly arc aimed to cleave him in two.

Shinon’s muscles tensed, and he moved with uncanny swiftness, evading the blade’s path by a hair’s breadth.

In a seamless transition, Shinon closed the distance between them. His Blade of Chaos danced through the air, a lethal symphony of metal and purpose.

The blade struck the Necrognasher’s exposed side, sinking deep into its rotting flesh before cauterising it.

The creature let out a guttural howl, not because of pain, as the beast couldn’t feel it, but because of annoyance from dealing with a rabbit-like opponent like Shinon.

But Shinon wasn’t done and put all his strength into kicking the Necrognasher, its form recoiled from the impact of Shinon’s Shaodw-enhanced kick.

As if that wasn’t enough, Shinon summoned several shadow-enhanced weapons and struck the undead from every possible angle.

But the Necrognasher was not defeated so easily. It retaliated with a fierce onslaught, its bone sword arcing toward Shinon with deadly intent.

Shinon’s <Combat Instinct> skill kicked in, his body moving with a grace that defied human capabilities. He sidestepped the blade’s trajectory, his physique only visible as a blur to the undead. Even so, the Necrognasher rushed to strike Shinon.

As the Necrognasher’s sword swung downward, Shinon moved with uncanny swiftness, his body evading the attack by a hair’s breadth.

He felt the rush of air as the blade whistled past, the proximity of the strike sending a shiver down his spine. In the blink of an eye, he was by the creature’s side, his Blade of Chaos slashing through... nothing.

The creature dodged the attack before attacking Shinon again from the side. Shinon was a bit surprised by the Necrognasher’s sudden burst of agility, as it meant the undead was getting used to his attacks and adapting his fighting style.

"Fuck-"

If the undead was copying his moves as Shinon suspected, it was obvious, and it would follow up with a kick, just like Shinon had. Thus Shinon instinctively raised a shadow shield to protect himself.

But the shield alone wasn’t enough, and Shinon was pushed back due to the force of the creature’s strike. Thankfully, Shinon’s brain was working in overdrive, and he immediately conjured shadowy anchors to halt himself.

However, as he did that, the Necrognasher appeared behind him as it had teleportation abilities. It didn’t take Shinon a second to know what would happen next as the undead raised its sword over its head.

"Really? The same move again?" Shinon rolled his eyes, not expecting the creature to pull his sword back and use his fist and the sword simultaneously.

With a burst of renewed strength, the Necrognasher unleashed a flurry of attacks, its bone sword slashing through the air while his fists and legs tried to stomp Shinon to death.

But the creature underestimated Shinon. The <Combat Instinct> skill guided Shinon. His body moved almost supernaturally. He ducked, twisted, and sidestepped, each movement proving his ever-increasing mastery over this newfound ability.

But the necrognasher wasn’t done yet. It struck once again. As the bone sword whistled through the air, Shinon seized the opening.

He struck with calculated precision, his blade tracing a deadly path through the creature’s decaying flesh. The Necrognasher let out a blood-curdling roar, its form trembling on the ridge of oblivion.

But the battle was far from over. The Necrognasher’s adaptability proved to be its greatest weapon, a testament to its relentless will to survive.

It lunged forward with a final, desperate strike, its bone sword descending like a harbinger of doom. Shinon’s <Combat Instinct> skill guided him once more, his body responding with almost supernatural agility.

He ducked and twisted, narrowly avoiding the bone sword’s deadly arc. With a swift counter, Shinon’s Blade of Chaos found its mark yet again, carving through the creature’s corrupted form. The Necrognasher’s form convulsed, its hideous frame rocking on the edge of collapse.

Shinon’s heart pounded as he charged at the creature one last time. The <Combat Instinct> skill surged within him, his every movement a testament to its power.

He stepped forward, activating Nercotoxin within his blade for the final blow. Shinon’s attack met its mark with a resounding roar from the undead, delivering a strike that severed the creature’s decayed head from its body.

Time seemed to stand still as the Necrognasher’s form disintegrated into a cloud of nothingness, leaving a heap of undead corpses behind. Its malicious presence had faded, leaving only a residual sense of victory for Shinon.

Shinon stood amidst the remnants of the fallen foe, his chest heaving, his body battered and bruised.

"Man, I’m drained..."

"The climax of Experiment Olympus experienced a malfunction," the woman in the lab coat relayed through the radio, clearly frustrated with the outcome.

"However, the experiment can be deemed successful apart from that issue. We now have the green light to move forward with large-scale manufacturing whenever required."

A tense silence hung in the air as the message crackled through the radio waves. The sterile laboratory buzzed with activity, scientists in white coats bustling around, executing various orders simultaneously.

"Be as it may... the malfunction is a cause of concern for us." A distorted voice replied.

"I agree. We’ll need to address the malfunction and fine-tune the process," the woman continued. "But we’re closer than ever to achieving our goals. The potential applications are limitless, and once we have the formula perfected, we’ll have the power to reshape the world."

"...we’ll reconvene tomorrow to discuss the funding." the voice replied before disconnecting. freewebnovёl.ƈom

"Fucking bastards," the woman rolled her eyes, crushing the radio in her hands. "First, they pull me out of my world into this shitty place, and then they dare boss me around? Just wait... by the time I’m done with you, you’ll beg to send me back to my world."
