Chapter 188: Back To The Drawing Board (2)

Inside Shinon’s workshop, the daylight streamed through the small windows, just enough light to dimly light the room. The ray was casting a warm glow on the workbench where he had laid out the materials he had gathered.

The glands he had procured from the acid spitters were carefully placed next to the Lunarisite ingots, along with the rest of his tools.

"Finally... I have everything I need to get to work," Shinon smiled, wearing his leather gloves for protection. "The ingredients are a bit different than the ones I used before, but it should work just as well, if not better."

Shinon donned his leather apron and picked up his tools. Creating the grenade would take a lot of work, and Shinon knew that the price of negligence would be his life.

It was for that reason he had informed everyone not to disturb him as they might as well get injured. Tom wanted to aid Shinon with his work, but the latter declined his offer because the grenade wasn’t something that Tom could have handled.

"Into the flames, we go..." Shinon mumbled, picking up a handful of Lunarisite ingots.

Gently, he placed the Lunarisite ingot into the forge, using the bellows to stoke the flames. The fire wouldn’t have done anything to Lunarisite in its raw form, but since Shinon had purified it, the measly flames were enough to melt the ingot.

The ingot began taking on a molten form, ready to be moulded into the grenade’s casing. Shinon took the molten lunarisite, carefully shaping it from a sturdy alloy that would withstand the force of the explosion.

The design was sleek and compact, meant to be easily carried and concealed. Shinon paid close attention to every detail, ensuring that it would be both practical and reliable.

As the metal cooled and solidified, Shinon admired his handiwork. The casing had a smooth, polished surface with a small opening for the trigger mechanism.

Next came the intricate part - designing the triggers that would release the deadly contents of the grenade. Shinon used a combination of Lunarisite and steel to fashion the triggers, ensuring they were sensitive and responsive to pressure.

On top of that, having been coated with Lunarisite meant that the acid wouldn’t corrode away the triggers. Shinon attached them inside the casing, making sure they were secure and would activate with the slightest touch.

With the casing and triggers complete, Shinon turned his attention to the glands he had harvested.

"Too bad I couldn’t capture a single acid spitter," Shinon shrugged. "Once I’m done dealing with Aric, I’ll try crafting some gear to help me trap those spitters. But for now, let’s make do with what I have at hand."

Saying so, Shinon took out a large container from his domain. When he opened the container’s lid, he had to cover his nose to live through working with Treant’s goo.

As a creationist, Shinon never allowed anything to go to waste, including the goo from Treant. Even though he didn’t know how to use the goo at first, he quickly discovered its use.

"Can’t believe I’m wasting a perfectly good pair of gloves on this..." Shinon squinted his eyes. "But I would rather do this than risk the acid burning my hands."

Shinon dipped his gloved hands into the container, coating them with thick, slimy goo.

While thinking of a way to get rid of the Treant’s goo covering his clothes, Shinon had thought to try burning the goo away with the help of spitter’s acid as he felt too lazy to wash them a dozen times.

At that moment, Shinon found that the acid from the spitters was phobic to the goo – it didn’t burn through it. With the Treant’s goo now coating his gloves, Shinon carefully handled the glands of the acid-spitters.

He was thankful that he had saved some of the goo for this purpose, as it provided a protective barrier between his gloves and the corrosive acid. But the goo’s protective nature wasn’t the only thing Shinon had discovered.

He carefully extracted the potent acid from the glands and mixed it with a special gel he had created using the goo and water. This gel would stabilise the acid, allowing it to be contained within the grenade without losing its potency.

The acid mixed with the goo was a curious process. Combining two phobic materials was akin to mixing oil and water, which usually resisted coming together.

However, Shinon had found a clever solution to overcome this challenge. Just as soap could help oil mix with water, he knew water could aid the acid in integrating with the goo.

But, he had to be cautious about directly adding water to the spitter’s acid, as it could have deadly consequences. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

To achieve the desired outcome, Shinon carefully introduced water to the Treant’s goo in a controlled manner. He knew that adding water directly to the acid could result in a violent reaction, causing it to become even more dangerous.

Instead, he used the goo as a buffer, allowing the water to combine gradually and safely with the acid, turning the grenade’s lethality a notch.

Once the gel and acid mixture was ready, Shinon inserted it into the casing, sealing it tightly to prevent any leaks as it would be devastating.

The hours flew by as he continued his work, and the workshop smelled of metal and chemicals. Soon enough, Shinon had the first batch of Silent Death ready for testing.

He ran his fingers over the smooth surface of the grenades, taking in every detail before carefully arranging the grenades inside his domain. After all, he didn’t want to risk the grenades falling into irresponsible hands.

As the evening turned to night, Shinon decided to get some rest. He needed to be well-prepared for the task ahead.

"I wonder... Should I try the grenades inside the dungeon or on some zombie nest?" Shinon wondered while lying in his bed. "I’ll try asking Sable is there’s a nest nearby that needs clearing... yeah that would be a better option."
