Chapter 162: Magic Of Lunarisite (2)

Shinon approached his workshop with anticipation. It had been a while since he had been there, and his hands were already itching to get to crafting again.

As he neared the entrance, he noticed a flurry of activity, the sound of hammers and axes striking against the wood and stone and the soft hum of conversations filling the air.

Half a dozen Military personnel moved about the place, overseeing the renovations within the workshop. Among them stood a tall, well-built officer with a commanding presence.

The officer’s name was Captain Jonathan Hart, a distinguished figure within the military ranks.

He had a rugged appearance, closely cropped hair, a strong jawline, and piercing blue eyes that exuded authority. His uniform was impeccably pressed, adorned with medals and insignias that spoke of his experience and leadership.

As Shinon neared, Captain Hart’s attention turned towards him, and a warm smile graced his face. He extended his hand in greeting. freewebnσvel.cøm

"Mr Shinon, it’s a pleasure to meet you in person finally. I’m Captain Hart." the captain introduced himself. "I’ve heard so much about your craftsmanship from the General."

Shinon reciprocated the gesture, his expression polite and reserved. "Likewise, Captain Hart. I appreciate the support and resources the military has provided for the renovation."

Captain Hart nodded, his gaze sweeping over the workshop as he gestured for Shinon to enter his soon-to-be workshop.

"We understand the importance of your work in fortifying the settlement’s defence. That’s why we spared no expense ensuring your workshop has the finest facilities and tools."

Curiosity piqued, Shinon followed Captain Hart as he began the tour. The workshop was a hive of activity, with workers diligently polishing walls, installing new equipment, and rearranging the layout for optimal functionality. The sound of hammers and drills filled the air, intermingled with the hum of suspense.

"We’ve expanded the workspace, allowing for more efficient production," Captain Hart explained, pointing towards the freshly painted walls and the additional workbenches that had been set up. "We’ve also upgraded the ventilation system to ensure a comfortable environment for you and your team."

Shinon observed the improvements with a discerning eye; his appreciation was evident in his expression. "These changes will undoubtedly enhance our productivity and allow me to create even better armaments for the military."

"That’s precisely our intention." Captain Hart nodded approvingly. "We want to equip our people with the best, and your craftsmanship plays a vital role in achieving that goal."

As they continued the tour, Shinon’s gaze fell upon the new equipment that had been installed. State-of-the-art forges, carefully calibrated machinery, and precision tools awaited his skilled hands. The workshop had been transformed into a haven for innovation and creativity.

"The military has spared no expense in acquiring the latest equipment for your workshop. By latest, we mean whatever we could get our hands on in this wasteland,"

Captain Hart remarked, a hint of pride in his voice as he continued, "We’ve also sourced rare materials and alloys that will allow you to create armaments of unmatched quality."

Shinon’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, his fingers itching to put the new tools to use. "Please convey my thanks to the General for his support and trust in me. With these resources, I will strive to exceed his expectations."

"Of course! The General would be more than pleased to hear those words."

Shinon and Hart talked for hours, debating whether traditional or modern weapons like guns were more useful in their zombie-infested world. Still, neither was ready to back down concerning their opinions.

While they did that, the workers worked diligently to finish the completion of the workshop and handed over the reins to Shinon for him to give life to his creations.

By sunset, the keys to the newly renovated workshop were handed over to Shinon as he expressed his thanks to the military and the workers.

With a final nod of understanding, Captain Hart bid Shinon farewell, his confident stride leading him back to his duties. Shinon stood amid the newly renovated workshop alone, but his head was full of ideas he wanted to execute.

"Finally... it’s time to familiarise with Lunarisite."

Taking a deep breath, Shinon let the workshop atmosphere envelop him, becoming one with him. Placing the ore on a nearby worktable, Shinon fetched something from his new set of tools.

He picked up a magnifying lens and carefully examined the Lunarisite, studying its intricate patterns and the shimmering surface. It seemed to glimmer even under the dim light.

Carefully watching the ore, Shinon made countless mental notes as he tried unravelling the secrets held by the ore.

Taking a deep breath, Shinon reached for a pair of tongs and carefully grasped the Lunarisite, feeling its coolness against his skin.

He held it over the roaring forge, gradually exposing it to the intense heat. As the ore began to glow with a silvery radiance, Shinon’s eyes widened in awe.

He withdrew the Lunarisite from the forge and immediately plunged it into a vat of cold water, causing steam to rise and fill the workshop.

Once the hissing subsided, he retrieved the ore and examined it again, hoping to discern any changes brought about by the intense temperature.

"It is special alright..."

To his surprise, the Lunarisite remained unaltered. It retained its shimmering beauty, unscathed by the elements that would have transformed ordinary metals. Shinon’s mind raced with possibilities, his hands itching to shape this wondrous material.

He cleared his workbench, carefully placing the Lunarisite at the centre. He carefully selected his most sophisticated tools and brought forth the material to fire that danced at his command.

With each hammer strike, Shinon listened intently, attuning his senses to the subtle vibrations that resonated through the Lunarisite. It possessed a unique harmony, a song of its own, guiding him to unravel its mysteries.

But despite the best of his efforts, he couldn’t figure out anything about Lunarisite other than the fact that the ore possessed resistant properties that could even cut through his shadowy creations.

"This is... troublesome," Shinon whispered to himself. "If Marcus learns about its properties, I’ll be fucked!"
