Chapter 583: Chapter 570: Tracking!

Worn down by Du Ruanqing and Ou Mingsi’s endless pestering, Jiang Yino, who had no appetite whatsoever, forced herself to eat half the food in the thermal lunch box. Only then was she granted permission to leave the dorm room.

Out in the hallway, despite the lively atmosphere created by Du Ruanqing and Ou Mingsi, Jiang Yino simply couldn’t bring herself to smile. However, so as not to hurt their feelings, she put on a brave face and chimed in with a word here and there.

"Spirits of heaven and earth, hear my plea! Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, manifest your power! Come out, come out, come out fast! Come out, come out, come out fast!"

As the three young women descended the stairs, a dark-skinned youth was chanting fervently in a seven-seater Jianghuai van parked outside the school, his hands clasped in prayer before a pile of compressed food packs.

It wasn’t just Xiao Hei who had developed a deep psychological aversion to compressed food; the other two men felt the same way. Still, seeing his pious, prayerful posture, they had to stifle their laughter.

SLAP!

Just as Xiao Hei’s chanting grew more fervent, his eyes squeezed shut, a hand came down hard on the back of his head.

"Are you fucking nuts? Why don’t you ask Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad to just kidnap the girl and bring her to us?" Brother Fei snarled, his eyes never leaving the school gate. "Stop this pointless bullshit and keep your fucking eyes peeled if you don’t want to waste any more time! If we miss her, we’ll be stuck on this stakeout for who knows how long!"

"Brother Fei, can you not hit me on the head next time?" Xiao Hei whined, shivering from the blow and rubbing the sore spot with a wronged expression. "I’ve been getting migraines lately. It really hurts when you hit me that hard!"

"How about next time I don’t bring you at all? Or maybe I just won’t give you your cut, huh? Shit!" Brother Fei grabbed a handful of potato chips and started chewing loudly. "Cut the crap! Don’t let your guard down for a second. We can’t miss her. Let’s get this done and go home!"

"Yinuo, take a deep breath!" Du Ruanqing said, slinging an arm over Jiang Yino’s shoulders as they walked along a campus path. She grinned broadly. "Just feel that! See? The world is a much more beautiful place. Such fresh air, such happy sounds of laughter! Worrying is just punishing yourself for no reason!"

"Yeah, much better," Jiang Yino replied, forcing a smile to placate her before quickly changing the subject. "Did you call for a car?"

"Don’t you trust me to get things done?" Du Ruanqing said with a laugh. "I called for one ages ago. It’s probably waiting at the gate right now! Let’s stop dawdling and pick up the pace!" With that, she grabbed Jiang Yino’s hand and started walking faster.

「Five minutes later.」

Inside the Jianghuai van, the long-haired man grunted, his eyes suddenly shooting wide. He snatched the night-vision binoculars from the seat beside him and raised them to his eyes.

"Holy shit! She’s out! She’s really out!" Long Hair exclaimed in delight after staring through the binoculars for several seconds.

"Are you sure?" Brother Fei demanded, his eyes widening in excitement as he snatched the binoculars from Long Hair to see for himself. freёwebnoѵel.com

"Haha! It looks like Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad really came through for us this time! Boys, this job is almost over!" Brother Fei licked his lips, a savage grin spreading across his face. As he watched Jiang Yino through the lenses, his voice quivered with excitement. And here I thought we’d be stuck staking out this fucking place until the weekend. Looks like we’ve been saved the time and effort!

"See? It’s all thanks to my prayers to Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad!" Xiao Hei said excitedly from the back seat, his eyes fixed on the figure standing under a streetlight near the school gate. "Brother Fei, are we moving in now?"

"Not yet. It’s too risky to make a move here," Brother Fei said, tracking Jiang Yino with the binoculars, not daring to look away for an instant. "It looks like they’re waiting for something. We’ll tail them for now. Long Hair, start the engine! Be ready to follow at a moment’s notice!"

"Yes, Brother Fei!"

Long Hair immediately started the engine. Just then, a ride-hail vehicle pulled up. Jiang Yino and her friends didn’t hesitate, pulling open the doors and climbing inside.

"Follow them! Be careful!" Brother Fei commanded urgently from the passenger seat, lowering the binoculars and slapping Long Hair on the shoulder. freewёbnoνel.com

VROOM—

The seven-seater Jianghuai trembled to life. The clutch was released, the gas pedal was pressed, and the van swung out to tail the ride-hail car.

Silence filled the Jianghuai van as Brother Fei kept his eyes glued to the ride-hail vehicle ahead. Knowing what was coming, Xiao Hei and Erzi pulled ski masks over their heads.

In a Beetle driving nearly parallel to the Jianghuai van, Amber frowned and hummed softly to herself. She lowered her window and glanced over at the van, but its heavily tinted windows revealed nothing.

Amber’s frown deepened. That van has been tailing them since the school gate, and its windows are tinted. Who would believe there’s nothing wrong with that?

"Courting death," she spat coldly.

Amber rolled her window back up, her expression turning glacial with killing intent. Now she understood why Qin Fan had warned her to keep a close eye on Jiang Yino. It seemed some new fools had decided to target her. She considered calling Qin Fan, but after picking up her phone, she put it back down. She was going to prove to him that she was useful.

Amber’s ability to sense something was wrong with the Jianghuai van was a Martial Artist’s instinct. But just as she was growing suspicious of the van, Long Hair, inside it, was also noticing that something was off about her Beetle. You don’t last long in their line of work without being vigilant and having sharp instincts; they would have been six feet under long ago otherwise.

"Brother Fei, something’s not right with that Beetle! That woman is bad news!" Long Hair said, maintaining his distance from the ride-hail car.

"A woman?" Brother Fei replied, instinctively glancing out his window.

"Yeah! I caught her out of the corner of my eye lowering her window just now," Long Hair said. "Something’s weird. I can’t tell if she’s a friend or foe."

"Forget her for now. Just keep following the target," Brother Fei ordered, his expression serious. "If the situation turns sideways, we hold back and don’t make a move. Safety is the priority for any action we take."

"Understood!" Long Hair replied, slowing the Jianghuai to blend in with the flow of traffic. His eyes, however, remained sharp, his veteran driver’s instincts working to anticipate the ride-hail car’s route.

Inside the Beetle.

They spotted me? Amber muttered grimly.

The change in the van’s behavior made the corner of her mouth twitch into a smirk. Her guard, however, remained up as she continuously scanned her mirrors, keeping an eye on the Jianghuai behind her.

Three vehicles, each with its own agenda, followed one another in a tense procession: a ride-hail car, a Beetle, and a seven-seater Jianghuai van.

After crossing a long bridge, the ride-hail car made a right turn, heading toward a large KTV up ahead. The Beetle immediately followed suit.

The seven-seater Jianghuai, however, which was last in line, slammed on its brakes and stopped at the intersection.

"Shit, what’s going on?" Xiao Hei yelled, lurching forward in his seat from the sudden stop.

"This is bad! Brother Fei, my gut is screaming at me! That woman in the Beetle is big trouble!" Long Hair said, a sudden sense of dread washing over him as he stared intently at the Beetle, which had now stopped up ahead.

Just as the words left his mouth, a young man dressed in white began to stroll leisurely toward the Beetle. Right before he reached it, he glanced back at the seven-seater Jianghuai, a playful smile on his face as he gave them a wink.
