Chapter 580: Chapter 568: Here Comes the Job!
At the same time, in a cheap rental house in the urban village.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
"You have a new email!" a notification suddenly rang out from an open laptop.
The man sitting in the swivel chair heard the sound and immediately stopped spinning. He swiftly reached for the mouse and clicked on the email. A photo of a pretty, innocent-looking young woman popped up. Below it was a line of text: Jinling University. Lie in wait. Destroy after reading.
The man hummed, frowning at the message. Isn’t it just a fucking kidnapping? Why does Young Master Bo have to be so damn cautious and vague? ’Lie in wait’? What the hell?
He couldn’t fathom the minds of these rich young masters. Still, he knew that for Young Master Bo to be this careful, the target must be someone important. Not that it matters to people like us, he thought. Ordinary or not, it’s all the same.
He picked up a cigarette from the desk, lit it, and took a deep drag, pulling the thick smoke into his lungs. He then quickly printed the photo, deleted the email, and cleared all traces of it from the computer. As the picture whirred out of the printer, he crushed the half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray.
With swift, efficient movements, he grabbed the photo, stood up, and walked out into the living room.
"Time to work!" he shouted with a laugh.
With a great shuffle, the three men in the living room shot up from the couch in unison. "Brother Fei, what’s the job?"
"Simple, just a kidnapping," said the man they called Brother Fei, passing the photo around. "A student from Jinling University." ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"This job is a little sensitive, so we can’t use our old methods," he continued. "Hei, go get some simple food ready. We don’t know when the target will leave the school, so we’ll have to lie in wait outside. Long Hair, you get a car with fake plates—a regular seven-seater will do. Remember, nothing too conspicuous. We don’t want to arouse suspicion. Erzi, you know the drill. Get the hoods, rope, and tape ready."
"Yes, Brother Fei!" the three men responded with vigor. They quickly pulled open the door to the rental and left.
The plot to kidnap Jiang Yino was set in motion. And with it, the first stormy notes of Chen Tiansheng’s crazy plan began to sound.
「Nightfall.」
An unremarkable seven-seater Jianghuai minivan slipped out of the urban village, its headlights cutting through the dim twilight. The GPS on the dashboard was set for a single destination: Jinling University.
While the Jianghuai made its way toward the university at a steady fifty to sixty kilometers per hour, Chen Tiansheng, dressed all in white, had already appeared like a ghost inside the Bauhinia Garden Estate, renowned for having the tightest security in all of Jinling. This was where Chang Yuanyi lived.
Wearing a pleasant smile, Chen Tiansheng strolled toward the entrance of Building C as if he were just out for a walk, drawing only a passing glance from a patrolling security guard. He took a blue card from his pocket and swiped it at the access control panel.
With a soft BEEP, the door unlocked.
He didn’t rush inside. Instead, he popped a few pieces of gum into his mouth and began to chew before leisurely pushing the door open. He took out the blue card again and swiped it at the elevator’s access panel. A sly smile played on his lips as he chewed his gum, waiting for the car to arrive.
DING!
The elevator doors slid open. Tilting his head back slightly, Chen Tiansheng gave the security camera a casual wink before sauntering inside.
On the twenty-eighth floor, inside a luxurious apartment of over two hundred square meters, Chang Yuanyi sat on the sofa in a bathrobe. His legs were crossed, and he held a stemmed glass, leisurely sipping red wine in contentment. On the eighty-inch television in front of him, the nationwide hit *Wolf Warrior 2* was playing.
"Darling! I’m all clean!"
At that moment, a tall, beautiful woman in a sheer silk nightgown emerged from the bathroom. She wrapped her arms around Chang Yuanyi from behind, resting her chin on his shoulder with a blissful expression.
"Want some?" Chang Yuanyi smiled, offering her the glass.
However, before the woman could reply, a sharp CLICK! echoed from the front door.
Suddenly, Chang Yuanyi shuddered, his pupils instantly dilating in shock.
"Darling, what’s wrong? What was that noise?" the woman asked, startled.
Before the terrified Chang Yuanyi could answer, the front door clicked shut. It was the unmistakable sound of someone closing it from the inside.
A mocking voice followed the sound of the closing door. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Young Master Chang, you’re quite the lucky man." Chen Tiansheng now stood in Chang Yuanyi’s line of sight, a playful smile on his face.
"Who are you? How the hell did you get in?" A bone-deep chill washed over Chang Yuanyi. His heart hammered against his ribs as he trembled and shouted. Having navigated the worlds of both law and crime in Jinling for so many years, he knew this was no friendly visit. An entrance like this isn’t a blessing; it’s a curse, he thought frantically. A huge one.
"Young Master Chang, does it really matter who I am?" Chen Tiansheng said, his casual, mocking tone fraying Chang Yuanyi’s nerves. "As for how I got in... I just walked. Did you think I could fly or something?"
He sauntered over to the coffee table in front of Chang Yuanyi, picked up the decanter of red wine, and, as if no one else was there, tilted his head back and chugged the entire thing.
"BURP!" Setting down the empty decanter, Chen Tiansheng let out a customary belch. "’82 Lafite. The real deal! You didn’t get scammed. Rare, very rare!"
"Who the hell are you? Who sent you? What do you want?" Chang Yuanyi’s face was drained of all color, his features a mask of terror. In that moment, his heart sank to the abyss.
