Chapter 249: Tease (3)
"Roses? You had someone prepare this room for us?" Scarlet asked, surprised by the red flowers. "Are there any more surprises for this trip?"
"If I tell you then how would they be surprises? Your bags will come up soon for you to get changed. Outside is a little cold but we can go for a walk after you rest. Is the inside warm enough to your liking?" Ian asked, hoping this small home would be enough for her.
"It is. We can still open one of the windows to let a little breeze come in. Ian, must I hold you down to make you have portraits done? There is only art here as well. Prepare yourself as I might tie you to a chair soon," Scarlet said, eager to have his walls filled with his face. freewёbnoνel.com
"I won’t put up a fight as it would fulfil one of my fantasies but it would be a little awkward for the painter, wouldn’t it?" Ian replied. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"I do not want to know what goes on in your dreams. When we return, you must promise me that you will sit to have portraits done. I will join you for a few so we can remember this year. There is much to remember and my family gets a large portrait done each time we meet so be prepared," said Scarlet.
Ian sat down on the bed, watching as Scarlet inspected the room. "Why is your family so interested in portraits?"
"It is for the memories. Some of the portraits eventually get put in storage but we take them out and rotate them throughout the year so we all get to display them. I can see what relatives I wasn’t fortunate to meet look like. Don’t you want something to show what you looked like during this time?" Scarlet asked, stopping to look at Ian.
"I have my memory for that. Unless it is that you secretly want something with my face for when you feel alone. I would prefer that you just call upon me but I will let you have the portraits. What are you doing?" Ian asked as Scarlet came to stand in front of him. "You said that you were tired."
"And if I weren’t now, would it be so bad?" Scarlet asked, taking a seat on Ian’s lap.
"Not at all," Ian answered. He welcomed Scarlet touching him as she liked. "I really did not bring you here just to sleep with you. If you want to rest and walk around that is all we can do. I remember this town having much to look at though it is not as grand as Lockwood."
"Ian," Scarlet cupped his face with her hand. "I like to think I know you well enough to not think that intimacy was the only thing on your mind. I was joking but it is evident that I am not good at telling jokes. Doesn’t mean I will stop so at least try to laugh when I do."
"You wouldn’t like me lying to you," Ian said, placing his arms around her waist so she wouldn’t slide off his lap. "I must tell you when your jokes are awful."
"It wouldn’t hurt if you lied over small things like that. I would do it for you. You are quite excited," Scarlet pointed out as it was hard to ignore what she felt beneath her. "While it might not have been your intention, your body has other plans. I wonder how you are when I am not around."
"Not quite well," Ian replied, sneakily bringing Scarlet closer to him. "How soon can I ask you something before it might seem like we are moving too fast? It is not about marriage."
"You want to live together?" Scarlet asked as it was the only other thing he could mean. "I do not want to leave my estate and I know that will be a problem because you have not long bought your new home. Have I ever told you that I like the haunted one more?"
"You like it because it would scare anyone from wanting to visit you. It is quite hard for me to sell that mansion. I need to find some unsuspecting fool who doesn’t know what happened there or I will be stuck with it forever. I would be more than happy to move in with you. I already spend most of my time with you," said Ian.
To convince Scarlet, he added, "When we grow annoyed with each other, I have other homes that I could spend the night at. I am more than happy to wait until you are more serious about our relationship."
Scarlet frowned. "You do not think I am serious about this? I have said I love you and I wouldn’t be so intimate with you if I did not see a future with you. You pushed your way into my heart and cemented yourself into a place no one can take from you. As long as you do not change."
"I will not," Ian promised. "I have never let something good slip from my hands. You must get used to me as I intend to stay by your side for a long time. And you have the same plan or you wouldn’t allow me to be part of a family portrait that would be around for a long time."
Scarlet sat up and pushed Ian back toward the bed. "That means nothing. It is quite easy to have the portraits made again without your face in them. What do you think is being done of the portraits during the time that I was married? Those memories are too good for me to burn those portraits without remaking them first."
"Silly me. I forgot there was an answer to everything for you. Not that I mind it," Ian said as Scarlet slowly unbuttoned his shirt. "But you said you wanted to rest so I left you alone. Will you stop when it gets to the fun part?"
"I wanted to tease you because you are so spoiled but that has backfired as now I am in the mood for it. I must have you feel just how much I love you and the way you can tell that I see a future with you is from what I am doing now. I wouldn’t do this with anyone I do not care for," said Scarlet.
She pushed back Ian’s shirt so it did not block her view. "I wouldn’t mind if you want to live with me at some point but I would rather wait until something else is done before then. I would like to be married before I take another step. But for now," she placed her finger on his lips to silence him. "Focus on this moment."
