Chapter 227: Accountability (2)

"She attacked me. You should have expected it after you told her to stay. She wants me out of my own home and she will do whatever she can to make it happen. She shared that she went to the court to tell them about our plan to have someone give us a child. She is to be rewarded," Layla revealed.

"What nonsense are you speaking of now? You didn’t like that I went to see Ian and Victor was there. That was not something worth fighting over and I am embarrassed that you did it here. My hair," Ivy said, raking her fingers through her hair.

Layla couldn’t believe how Ivy was pretending to act like she wasn’t the one who said those words. Was she taking it all back now because her plan was revealed? "She was the one who said it. She went to see the court today. You mustn’t trust her." freewebnoveℓ.com

Hank held out his hand for Ivy to come to him. "She already informed me that she was going to see Ian. Victor is with him. If you are upset that she has seen them both, why don’t you go to Victor and bring him home? I don’t want to hear about him fainting anywhere."

"She said those words. I heard from her just now. She went to the court to get money out of us-"

"Why would she need money from the court when I intend to spoil her? Find something else to do with your time. I- Who?" Hank questioned when the front door opened. "Ian. You got him to return," he said to Ivy.

It hadn’t been long but already Ivy was doing well for him.

"Ian," Hank opened his arms to welcome him in. "And Victor. Have the two of you come to your senses?"

"Certainly," Ian replied, reaching into his coat for his gun.

Ivy didn’t share Hank’s excitement since she was not the one to call Ian here. Ian didn’t show any interest in coming here when she saw him though she should have known what she said about Noelle would eventually bring him here.

Ivy could see in between Victor and Ian to look outside at a group of men standing by the steps. She stepped away from Hank as she knew what was happening.

Ian took out his gun and pointed it at his father. "Move quietly and go to the dining room. Don’t scream," he warned Layla.

Layla looked to Victor for an answer to what was happening. Had Ian taken him as a hostage? "Victor, did he harm you? Come here."

"Do what he says and go to the dining room. It will all be explained there. Go on," Victor urged his mother.

Layla did not move as she needed some answers first. Had Ian been harming her son? She turned to face Ivy who appeared somewhat convincing with how shocked she acted when she must know that Ian was coming here. "See, I told you that they were plotting something but you did not listen."

"Ian put the gun down. I don’t care how bold you have become during your time away. You cannot come into my home to point a gun at me and my wife. You would take your brother as a hostage? And you,’ Hank looked at Ivy. "You had some part in this?"

Ivy didn’t know what to say since she had seen the two brothers be close earlier in the day. Since Victor was standing without a weapon pointed at him, he might not be a hostage like the two assumed.

"I am not here as a hostage. I came here with Ian," Victor spoke up to end the assumptions. "We are wasting time with you all standing around here speaking and I wouldn’t doubt if Ian would shoot. Go to the dining room."

Hank couldn’t believe that Victor was in on whatever Ian had planned. Of his two sons, Victor should be more loyal to him. Victor was the son he spoiled from birth to now. He hadn’t done anything for Victor to stand by Ian’s side as he pointed a gun at them.

Due to the distance from where Hank stood and the door, he knew not to charge Ian to take the gun. They could only wait until the guards outside noticed something was off and came inside.

Hank was the first to do as Ian said, heading to the dining room which should have maids setting it up right now. There should be a few knives for him to defend himself with.

"Not you," Ian told his mother when she started to move. "You are to stand here and not think of leaving."

Ian couldn’t have her join the others as his father might try taking hold of her to get him to put the gun down. His mother was never in his plans and he had no reason to include her in them now. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Layla reluctantly followed Hank. Unlike the others, she did not believe that Victor would join Ian. Her sweet son would never turn on her like this. Victor would have given her some warning if he knew what Ian was doing.

"Take a seat at both ends of the table," Ian gave the order.

"You won’t get anything out of doing this. Do you want to be running out of Lockwood again? If you wanted money, you should have accepted becoming my heir. I can forget about this and still make you my heir if-"

"Be quiet and listen for once in your life. No one wants to be your heir. Victor will speak and the two of you will listen. I will shoot the first person who interrupts him. You have plenty of space for me to shoot and we have all night," Ian said, pointing the gun at Hank who was the bigger threat.

Hank looked around the dining room. Where were all of their servants? How did these two manage to get rid of the servants without him or Layla noticing it until now?

"If you are looking around for the butler, he is not here. I had him send all the servants out on mother’s orders. The guards as well," Victor revealed.

He only needed to mention getting justice for Noelle and turning over the estate to him being the new lord and the butler agreed to his plans. If anyone asked, it was his mother who passed on the strange order. The servants merely followed it.

"I love the two of you but I have had enough of your ways. The arguing, the lies, and forcing me to fix your marriage. Mother, I know of you once trying to poison Ian to stop my seat as heir from being taken. Unfortunately, you ended up poisoning the wrong son," Victor said, his gaze focused on her.

As hard as it was to say this and look at his mother, Victor wanted them to have eye contact throughout this. It was time his mother confessed her actions and seeing her face, he could tell when she started to lie.
