Chapter 188: Chapter 177: The Dwarves’ Competitive Enthusiasm
While the average forging skill of other races was lacking, they had a few top-tier craftsmen who could add some variety to the show.
Now that Bane had framed the competition as a contest between Elves and Dwarves, the enthusiasm of the Dwarves in the game shop was completely ignited.
"Ha! Take down the Sharp Ears!"
"The Dwarves will be victorious!"
As emotions ran high, Bane activated the Magic Crystal Stone.
An image appeared, showing the City Lord of the Silver-White City State holding a grand meeting with his craftsmen.
"What are they yammering on about?"
"Who knows? I can’t understand a single word of that Elven gibberish."
"I bet they’re cursing us out!"
The content shown on the Magic Crystal Stone differed slightly from what had actually happened.
The interview clip of Bane had been replaced with an unedited version, though his face was pixelated.
"Who is this Dwarf?" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Are you stupid? You can tell it’s Master Bane just by the beard."
"Master Bane seems to rate Elven smithing pretty highly."
"Hate ’em or not, you have to admit they’ve got some skills."
However, the Elves’ reaction quickly ignited the Dwarves’ fury.
"Stupid pigs!"
"Idiots!"
"Garbage!"
The Elves’ meager vocabulary of insults came spilling out, one after another.
It was strange. Despite the Dwarves claiming they couldn’t understand a single word of the Elven Language, they actually knew every single swear word in it perfectly.
The same went for the Elves; they could understand all the curses in the Dwarven Language.
These two races were capable of having a full-blown shouting match despite the language barrier.
And somehow, they both understood every word.
It just goes to show, curse words are the best introduction to learning a new language.
The Dwarves in attendance were getting riled up.
"Master Bane was so objective when he praised their craft, so why are they cursing him out?"
"That’s just like the Sharp Ears! Untrustworthy, no sense of honor, two-faced!"
"A provocation! A blatant provocation!"
"Let’s show them what Dwarves are made of!"
Once the broadcast ended, Bane cleared his throat again.
"So, what should I tell Zog the odds are of a Dwarf winning this competition?"
"100%!"
The roar was loud enough to nearly blow the doors off the shop.
Amidst the Dwarves’ roaring battle cries, Bane typed "100%" into the chat box and hit send.
He then quickly shut off his phone, hiding the question mark Zog sent in reply.
Seeing the incensed crowd, Bane breathed a secret sigh of relief.
’I’m a genius. An absolute genius among Dwarves.’
’If I can misdirect them this easily... maybe when I’m too old to smith, I should get a job at the Magic Vision Station and retire there.’
This incident became a hot topic, spreading rapidly among the Dwarves. It was no longer an issue confined to just the Furnace Clan.
Not all clan territories had game shops, so on that day, quite a few Dwarves from other clans had come to use the one here.
They brought the news back to their own clans, and even spread it to Dwarves in other regions through the Dwarf forums. freewebnøvel.com
In the end, after heated discussions on the Dwarf forums, it was decided that a representative from the Twin Tower City region would compete in the first episode.
Thus, the original plan to just send a few young members from the clan was no longer viable.
Auditions were held for the younger generation of Dwarves from all the clans in the Twin Tower City region. The best of the best were chosen, and Bane led the team to the competition venue.
As was tradition, they also brought along the artisans who hadn’t been selected, just to make a grander entrance.
And so, as Zog was running final tests on the studio, he saw a massive, imposing procession of Dwarves arrive at the filming location.
"Huh? Why so many people? Didn’t I say we just needed two contestants for the first episode?" Zog asked, bewildered.
There was no audience seating at the recording studio; logically, a forging competition didn’t really need a live audience anyway.
After all, filming took several hours, and most of it wasn’t very exciting to watch.
"Why don’t you have the extra people head back? Just the contestants need to stay," Zog said.
"No. They’ll be bringing just as many," Bane answered.
"Huh? Who? The Elves?"
Before he could finish his sentence, a massive Teleportation Array activated. Nearly a hundred Elves emerged from the curtain of light. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought it was a modeling audition.
"Wait, are you guys here to forge blades or to start a brawl?"
