Chapter 1070: Chapter 1070: Give Me Some Face

Duanmulei murmured, "Divine Doctor Gu? I’ve never heard of her."

Qi Er chimed in, "The South Jiang is a thousand miles away from Xiang City, of course you haven’t heard of her, but I can tell you, Aunt Gu’s medical skills are considered the best in the world today."

Duanmulei raised an eyebrow slightly and looked at You Er, "Your grandmother is a few years younger than me, your mother must be young too, these medical skills..."

You Er shook his head, "My mother has never claimed her medical skills are the best in the world, but there are such rumors outside."

He earnestly said to Duanmulei, "Meeting us might be a path granted by the heavens, whether you believe it or not, why not give it a try?"

Duanmulei pondered for a moment, then suddenly said, "I really am old and muddled, with no ties to concern me, why not accompany you on this journey!"

"If it can be treated, that will be great, if not, it’s my fate."

Duanmulei cupped his hands towards You Er, "I shall accompany you to Xiang City."

"There is only one thing I must entrust to you both, I estimate I can hold on for another month or two, if I die in Xiang City, please send my ashes back to South Jiang for burial."

You Er and Qi Er felt deeply saddened upon hearing this, but they solemnly replied, "We will not fail your trust, elder."

Having made his decision, Duanmulei felt relieved.

After eating and taking a short rest, they set out on their journey.

You Er and Qi Er were even more anxious.

They trusted Duanmulei’s assessment of his own health.

Now, they only hope to reach Xiang City soon to have Gu Yunjiao treat Duanmulei.

Once out of South Jiang, the road was much easier, within ten days, they arrived in Xiang City.

It was still morning when they reached Xiang City, You Er and Qi Er took Duanmulei directly to Renxin Hall.

Duanmulei first scrutinized the plaque at the entrance before stepping inside.

Gu Yunjiao was busy treating a patient when she suddenly saw the travel-worn Qi Er and You Er enter, she couldn’t help but say, "You two mischievous boys, sneaking out from home, go kneel in the backyard, wait until I finish with this patient before dealing with you!"

You Er and Qi Er exchanged a glance, laughed, and approached her, each holding one of Gu Yunjiao’s arms and shaking them, "Mother (Aunt Gu), we’ve brought a guest, can you save us some face and punish us later?"

Gu Yunjiao then noticed Duanmulei.

Duanmulei was wearing attire from South Jiang; clearly, he wasn’t from Xiang City.

Gu Yunjiao quickly stood up, "Good day, sir, please come to the back and have a seat."

Duanmulei waved his hand, "Doctor Gu, just carry on with your work, I’ll sit here for a while."

He walked to a bench meant for patients to wait and sat down, observing the shop’s interior.

Gu Yunjiao couldn’t leave her work, so she instructed the two children, "You two take good care of the guest, I’ll attend to everything once I’m finished."

Then she continued treating her patient.

Duanmulei carefully observed Gu Yunjiao as she meticulously inquired about the patient’s condition, checked the pulse, and prescribed medicine.

At that moment, a middle-aged man seated next to him scrutinized his attire and curiously asked, "Are you from out of town seeking treatment?"

Duanmulei thought for a moment and nodded.

The man said informally, "I’m also from out of town, what can I do, my illness can’t be cured by the local doctors, so I had to seek out the Divine Doctor Gu."

Duanmulei still had doubts about Gu Yunjiao’s skills, as he believed exceptional medical skills were inseparable from extensive experience, and with this young age of Doctor Gu, it’s believable she could treat illnesses, but calling her a divine doctor, he felt might be an exaggeration.
