Chapter 849 - Divine Skill Showdown
Having obtained Han Wu’s approval, Leng Ning spread her wings and soared. Frost gathered in her maw as she aimed her dragon breath at the Vine Giant.
Ding Jia scoffed. “You’re overestimating yourself!”
Vines shot out from the giant’s body, some forming a massive shield that blocked Leng Ning’s dragon breath while others lashed out toward her.
She dodged most of them, but one latched onto her tail. More vines sprouted from the first and wrapped around her entire body.
Thousands of thin needles then grew from the vines, piercing into her flesh. This was Vine Giant’s signature technique of siphoning the enemy’s life force to strengthen itself.
Its victims would be left as dried husks with their blood, marrow, and energy completely drained. Ding Jia had earned the name Withered Bones from this horrific method.
Han Wu watched Leng Ning closely, choosing to believe in her.
The vines on the giant’s body swayed in delight as it siphoned Leng Ning’s energy. A Great Dragon’s energy was exceptionally high-quality, and breaking it down to absorb would take a long time.
Suddenly, Leng Ning unleashed a wave of freezing power that shattered the vines wrapped around her and broke free. A terrible foreboding sat heavily in Ding Jia’s stomach when he saw this.
“Expel the absorbed energy, now!” he ordered.
It was too late. Leng Ning roared, and the energy that had been absorbed into the Vine Giant responded. The stolen power erupted, unleashing a devastating cold that froze the Vine Giant’s vitals solid.
Some vines weren’t fully frozen, but their attack speed had slowed and posed no threat to anything above the King rank.
“Charge!” Han Wu cried, seizing the opportunity to rush the Vine Giant.
Leng Ning sacrificed half of her energy to create this opening, and he wasn’t about to squander it.
Over 2 million locusts activated their totems simultaneously. Their energy was strong, and the Han Wu clones they summoned could deliver attacks at roughly the Earthsunder rank. This barrage of attacks slammed into the frozen Vine Giant at once, shattering massive segments of its vines and exposing the cores of the individual Vine Giants.
The locusts did not hesitate to dive in and start chewing. The cores were crunchy like ice and packed with energy. Some locusts even ranked up and advanced a full tier.
The other units also joined the assault. Powerful blows broke the combined form back into individual Vine Giants.
In an even fight, Han Wu had the numbers advantage. It was 3 million against 200 thousand. There was no way he could lose.
Before long, the locusts had devoured most of the 200 thousand Vine Giants. Ding Jia had no chance of a comeback. Han Wu won this round and became the only contestant in the top 8 who wasn’t a War Family member.
This battle also made Han Wu acutely aware of his own shortcomings. While he had plenty of units with diverse capabilities, few could punch above their weight class. He would have to find a way to obtain an ability that would let his units fight opponents of a higher rank.
After the battle, Leng Ning was recalled to the Origin Microcosm for treatment. She had lost a large amount of her energy. Fortunately, eating Ice Stones would allow her to recover within three months. She might even grow stronger as a result.
Han Wu, on the other hand, had no time to rest as the quarterfinal matches commenced immediately.
After the previous three battles, Han Wu had gained a decent understanding of how the Grand War Games worked, and figured this round would finally call for World rank combatants.
In Han Wu’s divine realm, the Great Dragons were furious when they heard about Leng Ning’s injury. Leng Ning was the Great Dragon tribe’s princess. They had watched her grow up. For her to be hurt this badly was unforgivable!
The enemy had it worse, true, but the Great Dragons still felt the need to vent their burning anger. They were waiting for Han Wu to summon them in the next battle so they could show the enemy the meaning of a dragon’s fury. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
However, when Han Wu entered the arena and read the rules displayed in the sky, he froze.
[Divine Skill Showdown]
[Requirement: No units allowed. Only Divine Skills can be used.]
Han Wu read the rules carefully.
It seemed each side would receive 1,000 Heroic rank puppets. These puppets could receive Divine Skill enhancements just like normal units. The first one to have all their puppets destroyed was the loser.
Han Wu cracked his knuckles. “Fine. You want to play it this way? Let’s see who comes out on top!”
The opponent shot Han Wu a confident smirk. “We, the War Families, have trained in Divine Skill application since the Demigod stage. Our combinations have been perfected over decades. You’ve studied Divine Skill synergy for a year or two at most. How can you compete with families that have spent decades, even centuries, refining theirs?” freeweɓnovel.cѳm
With that, the Major God revealed his five Divine Aspects. They were all top-grade: War, Barbarous, Slaughter, Berserk, and Life. Each Divine Skill was designed to enhance unit strength.
After years of study and practice, some of his mastered techniques had been elevated to the Divine Skill tier. One full rotation of Divine Skills later, and all 1,000 of his puppets carried over thirty Divine Skill buffs. Their combined combat power had increased a hundredfold and reached the King rank.
Han Wu assessed the situation. This was clearly an attempt to target him. He had eight Divine Aspects, but he couldn’t buff his puppets with over thirty-plus Divine Skills. Fortunately, Divine Skills weren’t limited to support.
Han Wu revealed his Destruction Aspect, which took the form of the Skull Guillotine. It granted a 25% chance of instant killing its targets upon activation. Channeling his Divine Points, he covered all 1,000 enemy puppets along with the Major God himself.
“Let’s see if today is your lucky day or mine,” Han Wu murmured.
The Skull Guillotine fell. 253 of the 1,000 puppet soldiers were instantly destroyed. The Major God survived by sheer luck.
Nevertheless, Han Wu’s absurd opening blow shook the Major God to his core. This was the first time in his life that he had brushed so close to death. The hundreds of battles he had fought before did not compare to the terror of that single strike. Composure crumbling, he forfeited on the spot.
Han Wu had been ready to reveal more Divine Aspects and buff his own puppets for a head-on clash, but it seemed that wasn’t necessary.
