This is not working...I keep shooting the Monsters down with icicles, but they continue to ignore me. That only leaves me with one option, to go all-out...there are still some people around in this area, all staring at me while blind to the massive number of Monsters, but this is past the point where I can afford to worry about civilians.
Why do they not run away? Even if they cannot see the Monsters, they can see the people who are getting stomped to death...instead of staring dumbfoundedly, run away, you fools!
"All of you, get away from here if you want to live!" I yelled out in French, before unleashing my Aura, the Monsters ahead of me abruptly halting and immediately turning back.
They rushed towards me rapidly, as did more Monsters from further out...sensing Aura will always provoke a Monster from the Mirror Dimension without fail, and if multiple Auras are unleashed...they will head for the one that they sense most strongly.
And more often than not...that will be the Aura that they are closer to in terms of distance. The Aura that they were heading for is still about two kilometers away, and the intensity suggests that it is approximately of similar capacity to my own Aura.
Now, then...I am surrounded by Monsters from almost all sides, with a small gap directly behind me. Whatever shall I do to escape this predicament? Oh, no , they are closing in on me, I am in trouble...not really, this is exactly what I was hoping for.
They are nice and fairly evenly spread out, perfect, there appear to be close to a hundred of them, with likely more headed this way...some of the people still have not run away, but I can no longer afford to hold back on their behalf.
"Apologies, but I did warn you...now, then, I believe a hundred meter radius should be sufficient. Aqua Skill:...," I muttered to myself, as I closed my eyes and focused, "Absolute Zero."
For a brief instant, the air all around me stagnated, as if time itself had slowed down...and then, the temperature dropped at a drastically rapid speed, frost and ice forming in seconds and almost instantly freezing everything within a hundred meters of me to the bone, a thick, cold mist appearing as the area abruptly went dead silent.
Within this hundred meter radius, every single Monster and human...had been frozen to death.
Unfortunately, as the frozen Monster corpses got sucked back into the Mirror Dimension and clearing the view around me, I saw there were still several more Monsters around me, just outside of that hundred meter range. I suppose unleashing my Aura resulted in inadvertently attracting even more Monsters.
But I did not exactly have a choice...this will be rather repetitive, but my best option will be to repeat the same attack over and over. I have enough Aura to do so a few more times at the very least, so-...wh-what...?
What...what is th-this pressure? This direction and distance...it’s coming from where Aurora went. Is this...her unleashed Aura? Unreal...how is such an immense pressure even possible?
Most of the Monsters are heading in that direction now...only those that had moved up closer to me were sticking around. Wait, I do not feel any of the other Aura pressures that had suddenly appeared earlier...did they decide to withdraw?
But why?
No, it looks like I do not have time to contemplate that at the moment...I suppressed my Aura, before I felt Aurora do the same...now that the unknown Auras have disappeared, these Monsters are not going to run off, there is no reason to keep our Auras unsuppressed anymore.
And if they do run off, we can easily just unleash our Auras again...stirring them into a frenzy will only work against us, due to their immense numbers. With my Aura suppressed, they can still tell that I am a Meta-Human, so they will still attack me, but as it is not unleashed, they are less wild and more cautious, especially as they can see that close to a hundred of their kin have been killed by me.
"Okay, this is going to be a long night...as they say, come at me, you ugly freaks!" I exclaimed with a smirk, as a frosty wind swirled around my hands...

Point-of-View: Aurora Pretorius

You’d think that it’d be easier to kill a bunch of Monsters with their backs turned to you...but somehow, it’s turning out to be annoyingly tricky.
I started off by closing the gap and then hitting them with a barrage of Negative Blasts, but they just keep ignoring me and continuing on without even slowing down...I’ve taken out a fair number of them, but there’s still so many left.
What should I-...hm? Is that another unleashed Aura? It’s coming from that direction...pretty sure that’s where Elise headed off to. Some of the Monsters are changing course that way...oh, I get it, distract them from the Aura they’re chasing with a much closer Aura.
There’s a thick mist rising up from over there...alright, then, me too. I then halted and unleashed my Aura in full, for the first time since I learnt how to suppress it.
This area is deserted, I don’t have to worry about civilians...however, that’s only because the stampede of Monsters had already crushed them all to death. I hate to admit it but...it’s only thanks to that that I’ve been able to fire off my Negative Blasts freely.
Damn it...this makes me sick. The fact that people died makes my job easier, realizing and acknowledging that, it’s sickening...the Chaos faction, they’ll pay for this...
As several Monsters closed in on me, I evaded as a short, green humanoid Monster swung its claws at me, before tearing off the top of its head with a slash of my Shadow Cat claws.
I then swung my left foot back rapidly and slammed onto the midsection of another Monster, sending it rapidly flying back and slamming onto several other Monsters, before leaping up and rapidly extending out my shadowy arms and whipping them around in a rapid spin, tearing apart about twenty Monsters to shreds in an instant.
Hm? As I landed, I felt the seven Auras that suddenly appeared, disappear just as suddenly. And then, so did Elise’s...I see, now that those other Auras aren’t there to agitate the Monsters, we don’t need to bother attracting them.
I swiftly suppressed my Aura, and as the frenzied Monsters came to their senses, I expanded the palms of my Shadow Cat while extending the arms, forming massive, swirling Negative Blasts in each hand.
I then whipped them around all over, smashing the massive, swirling blasts onto the Monsters in rapid succession, obliterating their bodies in seconds. And as the Negative Blasts began to fade, I further extended, sharpened and densified the claws of my Shadow Cat, before using them to rip every Monster in sight to shreds. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Compared to the Viciousaur, these Monsters are child’s play...though, well, this turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. Why was I so nervous earlier? It’s like I instinctively felt that I couldn’t handle them before, but that feeling is gone now. I don’t understand this at all...
Huh?
I was snapped out of it as I heard a slight rumbling approaching me...more Monsters had showed up, but not a lot of them, a smaller amount than how many I’d just killed. What concerned me though...was that there was another Viciousaur among them.
And yet...I felt confident. I’d struggled against one of them earlier, so why do I feel this way? My instincts have never been wrong, and I’ve always trusted my senses, but...my mind just can’t understand why I feel this way.
Oh, well, whatever. It doesn’t change the fact that I have to kill it.
I crouched down on all fours and rapidly shot towards it, forming sharp, whip-like dark streaks from the back of my Shadow Cat shroud and swung them rapidly all around me, whipping and tearing apart the smaller Monsters with ease, before firing out a rapid, narrow Negative Blast from my mouth at the Viciousaur.
It evaded my blast and swung its claws down, tearing up the ground and sending several chunks of concrete flying at me. I swiftly countered by expanding and extending my shroud arms and batting the debris away, before firing an intense Negative Blast at the ground to shoot myself up into the air as it whipped its tail down at me.
As it slammed its tail onto the ground and let out a roar as it slashed up at me in the air, I swung my own claws in retaliation, whipping my Shadow Cat arm down rapidly and tearing off its hand in an instant, the force of my swing sending slashing shockwaves towards the ground, several slash mark appearing on the pavement as the impact slammed onto it.
Huh? Was the earlier Viciousaur sturdier and have thicker, more durable skin? No, I don’t think so, but...
I set aside my thoughts as the Monster let out a screech of pain, blood pouring out of its severed stump, before it snarled viciously and snapped its jaws at me, trying to eat me while I was still in midair.
I felt incredibly calm and unfazed, as I caught its jaws with the hands of my shroud, before it could chomp down on me...and then, I rapidly expanded my Shadow Cat, the feet of the shroud hitting the ground as I matched the Viciousaur’s size...and grew even bigger, lifting it up into the air by its jaws, its legs and tail pointing upwards.
And then, with a simple pull of my arms, I tore the Monster in half, splitting its jaws and ripping its body apart with ease, its blood bursting out and raining down on the area below.
As it began to get drawn back into the Mirror Dimension along with its blood, I swiftly stomped around as the few remaining Monsters in my vicinity began to try and retreat, crushing them underfoot before they could get away.
Did it get them all? Yeah, looks like it. Still, I really messed up this area, huh-...and that’s when it hit me. Why I was much calmer and felt more free by myself than when I was fighting with Neo and Elise, and with the presence of civilians.
The area all around me was absolutely devastated...the deep marks left on the ground by the force of my slash when I tore off the Viciousaur’s hand, the severely cracked and broken apart concrete below me, and the streaky mist of Blight that had burst out all over thanks to my barrage of concentrated, intense Negative Blasts...
If any people had been around right now, I’d have killed them all. I doubt even most Metas would have been left standing right now...did I instinctively realize that earlier when we were by the Eiffel tower and restrain myself to minimize collateral damage?
No, it’s not just that...I’ve never fought with Neo before, or even seen him fight, and it’s my first time meeting Elise. Had I extended my Shadow Cat out as much as I did over here, I might have accidentally struck them too.
If...if it wasn’t for my instincts, I...I might have ended up seriously injuring or even killing them. And just how much exactly was I holding back, anyway?
Everyone’s always going on about how powerful I am and all that, but I’ve heard it so many times that in my head, I probably just felt like they were exaggerating. And that nearly proved fatal to the people around me.
I then shook my head and smacked the sides of my face to compose myself, letting out a slow exhale...okay, this is definitely a concern, but I can worry about it later.
I took out a good number of Monsters, but there’s definitely a lot more out there. And even though there’s no longer any unsuppressed Auras, the rifts are still open, so more Monsters could wander out. I’ve still got a lot of work to do here...
