As the Monster charged at us with a vicious roar, we swiftly scattered in different directions, cries of alarm and confusion ringing out as the ground shook violently with each step that the Monster took, more and more cracks spreading out on the ground with every footstep.
"Okay, here goes...Combo Skill: Shadow Cat," I muttered, as I formed the dark, cat-shaped shroud around myself.
Good, most of the people are running away, though some of them are staying put and pointing their phones at me while murmuring to each other with wide-eyes, recording my Shadow Cat cloak. I hope they stop that and get away quickly, they’re in the way.
The Monster was currently racing towards Elise, who swiftly halted and held our her hands, the temperature suddenly and rapidly dropping as a layer of frost formed on the ground all around her.
"Argh, there’s still too many people around, I cannot go all-out like this...fine, I’ll just have to deal with it!" She exclaimed, as the frost grew thicker.
The Monster let out a snarl as it slipped on the frost and fell down with a loud crash...before skidding straight towards her along the ice.
Right as it closed in on her, she formed a mass of ice in front of herself in the shape of a ramp, the Monster sliding up along the smooth, upward curve of the ice and flying above past her through the air.
Neo then swiftly opened a large portal around the spot where it was about to land, the Monster letting out a roar of anger as it fell through-...suddenly, its claws came shooting out and slammed onto the ground, piercing into it, before the Monster rapidly pulled itself back out of the portal.
Neo closed it as fast as he could, but the Monster was faster, all he could do was cut off a few inches of its tail, eliciting a deafening howl of pain from it as blood poured down from the stump at the end of its tail.
Wow, they almost got it, without me even doing a thing...impressive. But it looks like they’ve seriously angered it, it was practically foaming with rage. Hopefully, that’ll make it easier to take it down.
Elise then fired several large ice shards at it, which it ducked to evade before whipping its tail across and knocking the projectiles away. I then raced across towards its left and swung my arm across as I got within sight of the side of its face, rapidly extending and expanding the right arm of my shroud, with the hand clenched into a fist.
I slammed the fist onto the left side of its face as hard as I could, rapidly knocking its head across to the right and causing it to lose balance, though it managed to stay standing.
Hm...that’s strange, I feel like I could have expanded it a lot more, but something held me back from going all out...
Suddenly, the Viciousaur leapt across as a portal began to open below it, avoiding falling into it...its leap just now, it seemed to be a deliberate effort not to jump too high. It wants to avoid giving Neo time to open another portal below it as it lands.
Neo then opened a small portal in front of himself and blasted out a powerful fireball into it, right as a connected portal of the same size appeared by the Monster’s left eye.
It’s eyes widened, before it rapidly raised its arm and just barely blocked the fireball using the back of its hand, from what was effectively point-blank range...woah, I don’t think even I could react that quickly, at least not without my instincts kicking in.
As Elise fired out more ice projectiles at the Monster, I began charging up a Negative Blast from the opposite side, while Neo continued to pepper it with portaled fireballs to its blind spots, the Monster screeching as it got struck.
Some of Elise’s projectiles were piercing the Monster, but barely any deeper than the skin...we’re hurting it, but we aren’t inflicting any serious damage.
Alright, nice and charged up, I could power it up a bit more, but then I risk getting the onlookers caught in the crossfire, not to mention Neo and Elise. Still, this should be powerful enough to do some significant damage...eat this!
I rushed in as close as I could and then fired the massive charged up Negative Blast at the Monster, with as much momentum as I could generate.
At the last moment, it ducked down, before letting out an excruciating roar of pain as my blast tore through a chunk of its back, before Neo opened a portal ahead of the blast’s path, with a connected portal opened right below the Monster, the blast redirected and shooting straight up at it from below.
But it was able to spring back and evade it, with my blast having lost a fair amount of its momentum and giving it more time to react. And then, as Neo began to attempt another portaled fireball aimed at a blind spot...the Monster suddenly spun around and drove its claws through the connected portal.
Oh, no, it saw Neo charging up a fireball and realized that it was going to be hit in a spot on its body that it can’t see...this creature is really sharp!
Neo let out a cry of pain as one of its claws went through the portal...and pierced through his right forearm as he brought it up defensively, before he quickly closed the portal and cut off its claw before it could go any further and pierce through his chest.
Without missing a beat, the Monster then raised its foot and slammed it down in Neo’s direction with immense force, sending a violent shockwave shooting towards him, which struck him and sent him flying back, till he crashed onto a lamppost with a loud clang, slumping to his knees with a pained groan.
The Monster then rapidly shot towards Neo, presumably to finish him off...as Elise and I gave chase as fast as we could, trying to get its attention, it violently whipped its tail at the ground, sending chunks of concrete flying out rapidly towards us.
I quickly halted and fortified the defense of my Shadow Cat, the blocks harmlessly bouncing off, but Elise had been much closer than I was, and while she managed to raise a wall of ice, the force was still enough to send her flying back, before she broke her fall with a mass of water.
But there was no way for her to catch up before it reaches Neo...and neither can I, it’s seriously fast, especially for its size, and as I raced towards it as fast as I could, it began to close in on Neo-...when suddenly, a strong pressure burst out all around us, the Monster stiffening in response. Is this...someone’s Aura pressure?
Neo managed to regain his bearings and quickly opened a portal beneath himself, getting himself to safety while the Viciousaur was distracted, as the Monster shifted its attention to the source of the Aura...which was coming from the top of the Eiffel tower.
Oh, no...there’s a bunch of people in that direction, their phones pointing this way. They’ll get crushed to death at this rate!
"Aurora! Go capture whoever this Aura pressure is coming from! We’ll keep it busy!" Yelled Neo, as Elise fired out several long ice shards at an upward angle, which flew threw the air and plunged down, piercing into the ground in front of the Monster and forcing it to halt.
Okay, got it...as the two of them attacked the Monster from a distance, distracting it, I crouched on all fours and raced towards the tower at top speed, leaping up as high as I could as I closed in on it and rapidly extended the right arm of my shroud towards the railing by where the Aura was coming from. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
I grabbed hold of it and then contracted the arm as fast as I could, rapidly pulling myself up as gasps and murmurs of surprise echoed out from the people below me. I reached the top in an instant, before leaping over the railing, to see two people there...
Hm...it feels like the Dark Skill technique Ward is active here...that explains why no one else is up here.
But what caught my attention the most was what was behind the two people...an open portal, just like Neo’s...
"Oh, hi there, Aurora," Remarked one of them, a person wearing a baggy black hooded cloak and with a mask covering their face, a black mask with slits by the eyes and streaks of red paint that looked like splattered blood.
They were also wearing a really strong cologne or perfume...is it to mask their scent? If so, that’s got to be a move to counter me specifically...does that mean that the masked person is someone I know?
The other person was a short guy with spiky blonde hair and a face mask on...he flinched and averted his gaze as I narrowed my eyes at him, clearly nervous.
I have a lot of questions, but they can wait. For right now...
"You’re not getting away!" I snapped, as I rapidly sent my shroud arm extending towards them.
Right as I closed in on grabbing them, a bright light suddenly burst out from the masked person’s hand...and dissipated my Shadow Cat arm.
Huh?
No way...I’ve confirmed that Negate can’t affect my Shadow Cat at aol, so that light just now, was it...Dispel?
"Nice try, but not good enough. Well, I’ll see you later," Remarked the person in the hood, before disappearing into the portal, the blonde guy quickly scrambling in after them.
For a moment, I considered following them, but decided against it, and let the portal close...right as something slammed onto the tower and shook it violently, nearly knocking me down, as panicked screams and cries of pain rang out.
I quickly peeked over the railing, to see the Viciousaur by the base of the tower, seeming to have rammed into it. And below it’s feet, lay a few people, in puddles of their blood, their bodies crushed flat.
The Monster was missing half its right arm, Neo probably used a portal for that, and there were also several ice shards embedded in its skin, though a bit too shallow.
I then froze, as I realized the real reason why that masked person had unleashed their Aura...more Monsters were showing up all over the place, and heading this way. This is bad, we need to finish off the Viciousaur right now!
I jumped off the side of the tower, silently and rapidly plummeting down towards the Monster, as I maximized the sharpness and density of my Shadow Cat claws, raising my hand as I closed in on it.
As I began to swing my claws at its nape, it suddenly leapt to the side, narrowly evading my slash...huh? How did it-...tch, I guess it’s not Prime Tier ranked for nothing. But I’m not done yet!
As it evaded my slash and began to swing its own claws up at me, I rapidly extended a dark, shadowy spike out from the arm of my shroud...it’s off-balance after leaping away to evade, just try and dodge this if you can!
It let out a roar of agony as my spike pierced through its left eye deeply, stumbling back in pain and towards a crying little girl on the ground. The instant I landed, I shot forward rapidly and grabbed the girl, getting her out of the way as the Monster continued to screech in pain.
Suddenly, Elise leapt out of a portal by the Monster’s feet and touched its right heel...and rapidly froze it, before tightening her grip and shattering the frozen spot like a block of ice.
As the Monster helplessly collapsed towards the ground, she sprinted out of the way, before a massive portal opened up below the Viciousaur, the large Monster falling through.
Once again, its claws came shooting out, but this time, Neo had already started to close the portal before the Monster was even halfway in, and it fully closed in time, severing its left leg, which collapsed onto the ground with a loud, meaty thud.
Unfortunately, we had no time to celebrate...
"Look out, we’re surrounded!" I exclaimed, alerting the other two, as dozens upon dozens of Monsters appeared all around us...
