Chapter 92: Chapter 91 - Meeting

Point-of-View: Wrest Seizel

———————————————————————————

"It’s finally time to make a move. I’m reasonably satisfied with our current level of manpower and reach."

"It’s about time. I was starting to think we’d never get started," I grinned eagerly.

Today’s the 2nd of May, and it’s been almost a year since the Meta-Orbs were first scattered across the world. For the last few months, Chaos has been organizing and spreading out its ranks, and has become quite formidable. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

As it turned out, the leader isn’t the founder, though they are the one who got the organization to its current state. Some Meta-Humans who left Harmony or Eden in the past banded together for self-preservation, but they never actually seriously considered making any moves against their former factions.

Our current leader was sent on a mission to kill one of them after they were spotted by Harmony and mistaken for an Eden member. Once our leader actually encountered them though, they allied with the defectees, before reporting to Harmony that the target got away.

Okay, saying ’our leader’ every time is a bit long, but I no longer know their face or name because they’ve erased that fact from the memories of every single member, with a handful of exceptions.

They also wore a mask and hooded cloak to hide their face and head, and the cloak also masks the shape of their body, so I don’t even remember or know what gender they are.

Their mask is a black one that covers their entire face, with a couple of slits by the eyes, and streaks of red paint to look like blood splatter. They’ve requested to be called Anarchy for the moment, so that’s what we call them.

Anyway, the founders of what’s now Chaos, were naturally wary and suspicious of Anarchy at first, but they slowly but surely earned their trust, as bit by bit, they proved that they had no loyalty to Harmony.

And Anarchy also proved their claim that they feel the same way about the current state of Meta-Human society, sharing the founders’ distaste for the way things are. freёweɓnovel.com

The founders mostly consist of Meta-Humans who were given missions that they found to be too cruel or whatever, as well of those with Aberration Skills who were treated as inferior because their powers were either seen as useless, or because they didn’t understand how their powers worked at the time.

And for the last few years, Anarchy has been steadily recruiting like-minded individuals into Chaos. Those that firmly gained their trust and were deemed to be competent enough, were also tasked with recruitment.

There are approximately twenty million Meta-Humans in the world, somewhat evenly split between Harmony and Eden, the numbers slightly in favor of Harmony.

Of those twenty million or so, Chaos has about a million members, give or take. However, we’re not as overwhelmingly outnumbered as it may seem at first...because of all the Meta-Humans in the world, half of them live their lives in regular society, and of the rest, only about a third or so are genuinely competent, as in Category 2 and above.

In terms of overall quality and average competency, Chaos is far ahead of both Eden and Harmony. There aren’t any Category 0 Meta-Humans in Chaos, but Anarchy is at the level of a Category 0, and we’ve got several Aberration Skill users with highly useful abilities.

Oh, and it’s not just Meta-Humans that we’ve got on our side...Anarchy’s been making alliances with a number of other powerful beings too. But more on that later...

"Anyway, Glenn will come portal you to the meeting place, along with the leaders of each division, who’ll then relay my commands to those they’re in charge of," Anarchy informed me.

"Great, fine by me."

Glenn Clarke, a Space Skill user with incredible mastery over the portal techniques...but unlike Harmony’s Category 0, Glenn can’t use any other techniques, and has absolutely no combat prowess whatsoever.

Despite that, he’s one of our most valuable members. Thanks to him, we can meet without having to travel, that’s a pretty huge deal. It gives us the option to do as we please without arousing suspicion...after all, since Harmony and Eden will ’know’ our locations, they’ll never suspect us of something that happens in an entirely different country!

Anarchy has been making full use of that opportunity to, as far as Harmony is concerned, write themselves off the suspect list of potential traitors. After all, Harmony is aware of our existence, though Eden is not.

"By the way, what is our next move? Is it something grand?" I asked them curiously.

"Hm...sorry, but you’re just gonna have to wait and see," Came the response...I couldn’t see their face thanks to the mask, plus there’s a voice distorting mic in there too, but somehow, I could just tell...they’ve got a smirk on their face right now.

Yeah, they’re definitely enjoying this. And I have to admit, that makes me all the more intrigued as to what their next plan might be...

...

...

"Uh, hey, Wrest? It’s time," Came a voice, as I was relaxing in my room.

It’s the middle of the night here, plus my door is locked, so I don’t have to worry about anyone barging in while I’m away.

"Oh, hey, Glenn. Alright, take me there," I replied with a smirk of anticipation, as I stood up.

He’s a pretty short, slightly tubby guy, with dark blonde, spiked up hair, a blue right eye and green left eye, and a freckled face. And he’s got a pretty nervous disposition, so he’s not much fun to bully, it’s just too easy.

"O-okay, go in," He remarked, as he opened a portal and stepped into my room.

Without wasting any time, I jogged into the portal eagerly, before he followed after me as I walked through it, my sense of anticipation rising.

I emerged into a hall with rows of chairs, with a podium up front...seriously? Huh, I have to admit, I was picturing a more dark and edgy meeting place than this.

Looks like I’m one of the first ones to be brought here, there were a couple of others who were already here...

"Yo, bro, what up?" Greeted one of them with a grin, holding out his fist towards me.

"Oh, hey, Afro, good to see you," I responded, as I bumped his fist with mine.

So, yeah, this guy right here, is the last Outlier. His name is Afro D. Ziac, as in aphrodisiac, and the D apparently stands for Dick...this should go without saying, but that isn’t the name he was born with, he legally changed it to that.

Also, despite what his first name might suggest, he doesn’t have an afro. Instead, he’s got slicked back black hair, with a streak down the middle dyed blue. He’s got blue eyes-...well, one blue eye...-he accidentally destroyed his right eye while messing around with his newfound powers shortly after he came across the Aero Skill Meta-Orb.

He’s pretty violent and easily excitable, so I get along with him well. Though, uh, sometimes he’s a bit too excitable, even for me. Which is saying a lot. Oh, and as for the other person who was already here...

"Hey, uh, it’s been a while, Mr Rasputin," I greeted him awkwardly.

"Hm," He grunted in response, with a look of disinterest.

I can’t read this guy, and he kinda creeps me out a bit too. He’s been alive since the nineteenth century, an Aberration Skill user with the power of immortality. He defected from Eden way back when, and naturally, was the first member of Chaos.

Before too long, everyone else who was supposed to attend began streaming in, taking a seat as we waited for Anarchy to arrive.

And within a few minutes, a portal opened by the podium, and out they stepped, with Glenn trailing behind them, the portal closing as they both entered.

"Glad to see that everyone’s here. Let’s get straight to the matter at hand, shall we?" Remarked Anarchy, after tapping on the mic to get everyone’s attention, "Any questions?"

"Yeah, I’ve got one! Where exactly are we?" Inquired Afro curiously.

"Just a random meeting hall, I used my Dark Skill to manipulate the security guards and other staff here to make sure no one bothers us. Now, then, if there are no more questions, let’s begin...I’ll start by saying that our next operation is going to be quite a big one. Specifically...we’re going to trigger Monster outbreaks all over the world, particularly in areas that aren’t known for Monster appearances, and especially in countries where neither Eden nor Harmony have any bases. Oh, and I don’t just mean Mirror Dimension Monsters...a bit further down the line, we’ll also be provoking the Divine and Pseudo-Divine Tier Monsters that live in hiding in this world!" Announced Anarchy enthusiastically.

For a moment, there was a brief silence, before murmurs began echoing around the room...

"It is quite dangerous to provoke the Deities of this world, are you certain about this?" Inquired Rasputin skeptically.

Come to think of it, we do have an Aberration Skill user who can sense and locate beings with Aura capacities of over 2000, regardless of whether or not they’re suppressed, that’s probably how Anarchy knows where to find these Monsters...

"A valid concern...but don’t worry, I’ve got it all figured out. I still haven’t decided which Deity Monster to target, and I don’t plan on provoking one anytime soon just yet, so...our opening move will be to trigger Mirror Dimension outbreaks in populated areas," Stated Anarchy, before inquiring, "So...any objections?"
