Chapter 84: Chapter 83 - Deceit and Defiance

Point-of-View: Luna Castillo/Astra

———————————————————————————

I’m positively brimming with anticipation and excitement! Finally, they finally granted my request! Yeah, it’s only two people that I’m going to be given to play with, but hey, it’s better than nothing.

It’s been...it’s been really tough. I experienced the joy and pleasure of killing people during my last concert, but I haven’t gotten a chance to try again since then at all. I can hardly contain myself right now, I’m so freaking stoked!

Hm? It suddenly feels like my powers got shut off...ah, that girl with the scars must be coming. Ooh, that probably means that it’s time for me to have my fun! Right? Right!? RIGHT!?

I felt my anticipation rise as I heard the door unlock, before inadvertently letting out a slight squeal of excitement as it opened and she stepped in.

"Is it finally time!? I can’t wait anymore, let’s go, let’s go right now!" I exclaimed eagerly, as I hopped of the bed and began to head for the door.

"Yeah, uh, about that...as it turned out, Adelmira killed all the captives herself, so...there aren’t any left alive for you," She informed me, quashing my excitement in an instant.

"No, she fucking didn’t. Y-you’re kidding right? This i-is a prank...r-right?" I chuckled nervously.

"Sorry, but it’s true."

"B-but that’s...that’s n-not fair..."

In that moment, I felt like a little kid who was given an iPad for Christmas, only to open the box and find an eye pad inside instead...or a homeless person who was given a fat stack of cash, only to find out that it’s Monopoly money...or a...or a...

"Are you...are you crying?" Remarked X incredulously.

"I-I have feelings too, you know! Do you...do you have any idea how much I was looking forward to this, huh!? Well, do you!? Th-this is...this is just cruel! How would you feel if someone offered to get you chicken nuggets and then got you vegan nuggets instead, huh!? No, this is worse, because I didn’t even get anything at all!" I snapped, as tears of frustration ran down my face.

"Well, I mean, I’ve never tried vegan nuggets, so...I don’t know?" She shrugged in bemusement.

"That’s not the point! It’s so not cool to promise something to someone and then retract it at the height of their anticipation!" I shot back indignantly.

"I guess I kinda get what you’re saying, but is it really worth throwing a tantrum over? And, well, there’s no point yelling at me about this, you know," She pointed out in response.

"Fine, then get me someone who’s worth complaining to!" I snapped, starting to get really pissed off.

"...sure, whatever."

And with that, she left, having crushed my hopes and dreams, leaving me in unimaginable despair...

...

About an hour later, the door opened again, someone else stepping in this time. Oh, it’s that Trevor guy...I’m still pissed as hell, so I’m gonna give him a piece of my mind...

"I can’t believe you lied to me so brazenly, you fucking asshole!" I snapped at him.

"Hello to you too," He replied dryly.

"Don’t get smart with me! You owe me some warm bodies!" I exclaimed, refusing to back down.

"Shut up and calm down, there’s no need to get so mad-," He began.

"I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed! No, no, that’s a lie, I’m fucking furious over here!" I yelled at him.

"It couldn’t be helped, we didn’t think that that little girl of all people would actually kill all of them, so-."

"I don’t care about your stupid excuses! Just own up and admit that you lied! You’re a liar! Deceiver! Asshole! Teller of lies! King Liar of Liesville! Dickhead! Fibster! Pussy! Cunt!" I snarled angrily.

"Damn it, fine! We’ll get more people for you to kill, happy now!?" He snapped, glaring at me.

"Hmph...I suppose that’s a bit better. Still doesn’t make up for your blatant lie, but I guess I’ll just have to accept that," I huffed in response.

"Tch, obnoxious little-...stay quiet and behave, we’ll let you know when we’ve obtained more bodies," He grumbled as he walked out.

"It better be today!"

"...don’t push your luck."

It was a few hours later, and Trevor had just informed me that Ash had arrived, so to go help out with his placing of a Condition on the newly captured Outlier.

Unlike with Miraliz and the others, he made a point of keeping me away from the new Outlier until now...the fact that this Outlier wasn’t even brought down to the basement and placed in one of the empty cells was proof of that.

Guess they don’t want a repeat of what Miraliz did, after I informed her about what was about to happen to her and she managed to take the initiative with Trevor and compromise. Heh, nice.

Anyway, I then headed up to the room where the new Outlier was currently being held in, before entering the room with Trevor and shutting the door.

Ash was already there, looking as absent-minded and dopey as ever, along with a young girl who was chained up with her arms behind her back. She looked a bit older than Miraliz, maybe around sixteen or seventeen at most.

She had medium-length dark blonde hair, piercing red eyes and wore a pendant with a red stone in it that matched her eye color. From what I’d heard about her, she had inadvertently split the power of the Space Meta-Orb with someone else, who had been captured by Harmony.

And that she was from a traveling circus in Germany, which I found kinda intriguing...that really sounds like it would’ve been fun, but I guess the reality was probably different to what I’m imagining.

"Hey, you, do you speak English?" Inquired Trevor, as he approached her.

She didn’t respond though, glaring at him defiantly despite the fearful look in her eyes. Trevor then glanced back at me expectantly...well, I do speak German, but somehow I doubt that’s gonna change anything...

"Um, hi there, how do you do? I know you must be scared, but listen, let me explain the current situation to you," I offered, speaking in German.

"Tch, I speak English just fine," She shot back in a slight German accent, before adding, "But I have nothing to say to you people!"

Hm? Her elbows are moving slightly...is she freeing herself from the chains binding her arms behind her back? Her ankles are shackled, so I don’t think she can break free from that.

Can she really undo the chains around her arms though? I wanna see that! She then stiffened slightly, seeming to have noticed that I noticed what she was upto. freёwebnovel.com

"Don’t worry, I won’t say anything. I’m like you, I’m here against my will too. So, go for it, I’m not going to stop you," I remarked in German.

I mean, hey, I might as well make all the allies that I can, right? And it’s not like she can escape just by freeing her arms, so it’s fine. And, like I said, I wanna see her pull this off. Literally and figuratively.

She hesitated for a moment, before her elbows began moving slightly again...Trevor doesn’t seem to have noticed, and Ash was just blankly staring at his phone.

"Hey, what did you say?" Inquired Trevor, glancing back at me.

Good, he doesn’t seem suspicious, just curious...

"Oh, I was just trying to calm her down and hear us out, but I don’t think she’s willing to listen," I responded with a sigh and a shake of my head.

"Fine, then, let’s just get this over with. Get ready to activate your Nullification," Instructed Trevor with a frown.

"Yeah, yeah, I know alr-," I began, when suddenly, a loud clang echoed out as the girl freed her arms from the chains.

"What the-...!?" Trevor exclaimed, before trailing off she swung either end of the chain at him and Ash.

Woah, that’s a long-ass chain, how much did they use to tie her arms!? Though, well, it sure seems justified, seeing as she managed to unravel it...

Trevor brought up his right arm defensively, wincing at the chain slammed onto his forearm and wrapped around it tightly, and as the other end of the chain whipped towards Ash, without even glancing up from his phone, his left hand shot up and he grabbed the chain effortlessly, before dropping it, his eyes still glued to his phone.

Seriously?

The girl clicked her tongue as he avoided getting caught, before letting go of that end of the chain and giving the other end a violent yank, pulling Trevor towards her rapidly, as he let out a yell of alarm. Holy crap, she’s strong!

As he closed in on her, she grabbed his throat and slammed him onto the ground, tightening her grip around his neck as she pinned her knee onto his midsection, the middle spot right below his ribcage.

"Where’s my brother!? Take me to him right now, or I’ll kill you!" She snapped threateningly, as he let out a choked gasp.

He then gritted his teeth and grabbed her wrist, clenching it hard to try and get her to let go, before his other hand shot up and touched her forehead, a dark mist around it.

"L-let...go...of me!" He sputtered, as he used a Physical and Dark Skill technique in unison to try and break free.

And then, just for an instant, she wavered, her eyes getting a slightly dazed look in them as the Dark Skill technique took effect. She managed to resist it almost immediately, but that instant was enough for her grip to weaken and for Trevor to break free, pushing her off and slamming his fist onto her stomach with a look of fury.

He then backed away a few paces as he coughed hoarsely, visible bruises on his neck as he rubbed it tentatively, before wiping away the trail of saliva that had trickled out of his mouth, struggling to catch his breath and his eyes red.

Meanwhile, the girl coughed out a bit of blood, clutching the spot where he’d struck her, glaring at him obstinantly.

Ash hadn’t so much as moved from his spot by the wall this whole time, looking unbothered and indifferent to what just happened.

"H-hey, what do you think you’re doing just standing there and watching!?" Trevor snapped at me with a glare.

"Uh, really not sure what I was supposed to do there...she didn’t use any powers, so wouldn’t my Nullification only have weakened you while leaving her unaffected?" I pointed out objectively.

"That’s not-...tch, I guess you’ve got a point," He muttered, as he composed himself, before shifting his attention back to the girl, "As for you, try something like that again and I’ll break all your limbs, got it?"

"Go ahead and try, I’ll kick your ass, old man," She countered venemously.

Heh, it was kinda funny to watch when she almost choked him out earlier. A Category 0 nearly taken down bare-handed by a teenage girl... ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"O-old ma-...!? You bratty little bitch...," He growled in response, glaring at her.

Well, now, she seems like she’s going to be quite the interesting addition to our group of Outliers...
