Chapter 65: Chapter 64 - Trespassing(Part 2)
Point-of-View: X
———————————————————————————
As I felt a hint of panic rising up inside me, I quickly spun around and slashed at the Vampire with one of my daggers, but without so much as batting an eye, she blocked my slash with her fingernail, before swiftly pointing her free hand at me and rapidly extending her claws right towards my face.
I quickly tilted my head out of the way in alarm, a chill running down my spine as her claws grazed the side of my face. I then sprang back and away as fast as I could, as Arisu fired out a Negative Blast from behind her. But the Vampire was quick to react, raising her hand in the direction that the blast was coming from...and suddenly, it vanished.
And in the next instant, it reappeared above the staircase, before blasting onto the wall, the force sending cracks spreading out from the point of impact, as bits of chipped paint and concrete rained down on us.
"Yeah, fuck this, I’m out," Remarked Wrest, before teleporting towards the nearest window.
"Not so fast," Stated the Vampire coldly, as she raised her arm and pointed her palm at his back, and before he could teleport again, he let out a yelp of surprise as he was rapidly pulled back, flying through the air towards her.
Right as he closed in on her, he quickly teleported onto the railing of the staircase before she could grab hold of him. Can I use this chance to escape?
No, she’s way too sharp and quick to react...I think Arisu has realized the same thing. If Wrest’s Teleportation isn’t enough to escape her, then our only choice is to kill her...if that’s even possible...
"There is no escape...Space Skill: Anti-Teleportation Field," Remarked the Vampire, before cutting her palm with a claw, the blood that spilled out from the cut floating up.
She then rapidly swung her arm across, sending her blood flying towards Wrest in a sharp, vertical slash. He didn’t move initially, before a horrified look of alarm appeared on his face as he desperately sprang out of the way, letting out a yell of pain as the attack gashed his left shoulder deeply, blood flowing out as he crashed onto the stairs and rolled down towards the ground.
The Vampire swiftly spun around and fired out a blast of flames to cancel out a fireball shot at her by Arisu, who froze and backed away in fear as yet another of her attacks was shrugged off with ease.
But her keeping her distance is perfectly understandable...fighting a Vampire up close is practically suicide, since if they sink their fangs into you, they can have you fall under their control. You’ll get stronger as a result, but you’ll also lose your free will.
Damn it, what do we do? Is there a way out of this? Maybe we can try negotiating...?
"H-hey, mind letting us go!? If we’d known that a Vampire had already claimed this place, we’d have never come here," I remarked in a clear, non-combative tone, dropping the dagger in my hand.
The Vampire paused for a moment, before swiftly pointing her palms at Wrest and Arisu, and as they both let out yells of alarm, she swung her arms across and pulled them both across the room until they were next to me, all three of us grouped in one spot.
"D-damn, how does she move her arms so fast?" Frowned Arisu, as a bead of sweat ran down the side of her face. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Ow, my neck...I think I felt a bit of whiplash," Muttered Wrest, rubbing the back of his neck gingerly.
"Now that you’ve found out the secret of this place, do you really think I’m letting any of you get away from here alive?" Scoffed the Vampire with an icy glare, "Whether you were ignorant or otherwise, it doesn’t change the fact that you intruded on my territory, and what’s more, tried to steal control of my puppets, despite being mere infants in my eyes...I am the Vampire Strzyga Strix, I have been around since the eighteenth century, and I’m afraid that I have no mercy to spare."
"Woah, woah, woah, hold on a sec! Look, she’s the one who tried to take control of the people in this building, I’m just tagging along here!" Spoke up Wrest, trying to save his own skin.
"Wha-...? You asshole!" Snapped Arisu indignantly.
"Enough, you will not waste any more of my time. All three of you will die, and die now," Stated Strzyga, as dozens upon dozens of arrow-like streaks of blood formed out of the cut on her hand, way too many to even think about dodging.
Just one...we have just one chance of getting away. And it’s not or never! I swiftly reached for a pouch on my lower back and took out a smoke bomb, before flinging it towards the Vampire while simultaneously activating my Nullification, as I reached out and grabbed the shoulders of the other two.
"What? My powers are...," Frowned the Vampire in bewilderment, as her floating blood suddenly fell down and splattered the ground, right as the smoke bomb exploded ahead of us.
"Teleport! Now! Teleport, quickly!" I screamed at Wrest urgently, as I shut off my Nullification.
Fortunately, I didn’t have to tell him twice, as our surroundings suddenly and rapidly changed over and over again like a slideshow on fast-forward, until we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, a grassy area with no buildings or civilization in sight. All three of us collapsed in unison, breathing heavy sighs of relief as a stiff breeze blew across the area.
"As much as I hate to admit it...we’d probably all be dead if it wasn’t for you," Arisu grudgingly admitted as she glanced at me from the corner of her eye.
"Hey, uh, here’s a thought...let’s maybe give up on Poland for now. What do you say?" I suggested wryly.
"I’m inclined to agree with that notion...even if it means another failure against my name, I’m not going up against that thing again. It’d be pointless anyway, there’s no way I can overwrite her control over those people in the first place," She sighed with a groan.
"Just so you know, I still had a couple of tricks up my sleeve back there. If I’d opted to use them, I might have been able to defeat that Vampire," Remarked Wrest dryly, as he flopped down onto the grass with a sigh.
Yeah, then why didn’t you use them?
"Hm...that reminds me, you asshole. You tried to sell me out back there and save your own skin, didn’t you?" Frowned Arisu, as she stood up and walked towards him, before glancing at me, "Hey, activate your Nullification."
I did as she asked, because I was also more than a little ticked off at the way Wrest had tried to screw us over...
"Heh, yeah, I did. But no hard feelings, r-...ow, hey!" He exclaimed indignantly, as Arisu began kicking him.
"No hard feelings? Are you kidding me!?" She snapped angrily.
"H-hey, hold o-on, I-...ow! FYI, I can, ow, see your panties!" He blurted out, as she kicked his shoulder, "Woah, you wear some pretty daring stuff, nice red."
"Wh-wha...!? Okay, that’s it, first I’m crushing your eyeballs, and then you ball-balls!" She declared furiously, as her face turned red with rage and embarrassment.
"Scary...but give me a break, will ya, you’d still be back there if I hadn’t teleported us all the way out here!" He pointed out as he quickly scrambled back onto his feet.
"Tch...I’ll let it go for now, but one of these days, I’m gonna cut your balls off in your sleep," She warned him icily.
"Yeah, uh...please, don’t."

"You can handle the reporting, since you were the one in charge of this operation. I’m heading off," I remarked with a wave.
"Hmph, fine, whatever. Oh, and if you thought I was bluffing about cutting your balls off, one of these days, you won’t be so sure of that anymore," Stated Arisu as she narrowed her eyes at me, before leaving to inform the higher ups of how the mission had gone.
Yikes. I’d best keep my distance from her for a while.
It was a few hours later, and we were in one of Eden’s hidden bases in France, having just arrived...
"Okay, guess I’ll go find a room to rest up in until it’s time for me to go back to the base in Ukraine," Muttered X, as she stifled a yawn and wandered away.
Alright, this is my chance. Something rather intriguing was waiting for me, and I was way too curious to pass it up. Specifically, the person who’d been acting as Eden’s informant in Harmony had contacted me privately, requesting a secret meeting.
Specifically, in order to discuss something with me that, according to them, is bound to pique my interest. I’m not even sure how they got my contact info, which makes me all the more interested and intrigued about what they have to say.
They didn’t give me any details or specifics, but...I couldn’t help but find myself deeply intrigued. I mean, this could be considered a betrayal against Eden, since the informant told me to come without telling anyone else. And I did as they asked.
After all, they were taking quite a risk here, and I couldn’t help but wonder why. Just what exactly am I about to walk into, I wonder? Also, I wonder who the informant is? Is it a high ranking Harmony Meta-Human, or just some random low rank? Well, there’s only one way to find out...
...
A short while later, I was at the agreed upon meeting place, beneath an old bridge. Hm, strange place to meet, because it’s not exactly secluded here. There isn’t exactly that much traffic or anything, but vehicles pass by frequently enough to be concerned. Hm, maybe this informant isn’t all that impressive, after all-...
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Wrest Seizel. No need to look so antsy, I’m using a Dark Skill technique to repel any gazes from this spot, so you can relax," Suddenly came a voice from behind me, causing me to freeze up.
I quickly spun around and backed away, as I felt a chill run down my spine. How did they just do that? I was on alert and had my guard, there’s no way someone should’ve been able to sneak up behind me so easily...
"You must be the informant," I responded warily...they were wearing a hoodie, their face partially covered.
"Yes, that’s right," They smiled, before pulling back the hood and meeting my gaze.
That’s-...I’m pretty sure this person is a Category 1 from Harmony. Is this really the informant who’s been leaking data to us?
"So...just what exactly do you want with me?" I inquired, cutting straight to the chase.
"First, tell me this...are you satisfied with the status quo, are you happy with the way things are right now?" They asked me, with a slight smirk.
"Huh? Uh...I guess it’s okay," I shrugged in response, a bit bewildered.
"Let me rephrase my question...the way the world currently is, would you say it’s in the ideal state for you?"
"Well, no, of course not. Ideally, it’d be a whole lot more chaotic and violent, but hey, there’s no point in hoping for too much, is there?" I replied after mulling it over.
"Oh, but that’s where you’re wrong...you see, I find that both Eden and Harmony have fallen behind the times. There’s no need for either to exist anymore. That’s why I’ve begun creating a third, yet-to-be-named faction, one that’ll create conflict between both sides until they destroy each other, and drag the rest of the world into that scuffle too. My goal is to give Meta-Humans the freedom to live as they please, without being bound to the antiquated rules of Harmony or Eden!"
"...okay, I’m listening. Keep talking." freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"If things go as planned, survival of the fittest will once again be the name of the game. Just imagine, how much of a frenzy normal society will be thrown into if Meta-Humans become public knowledge, especially the religious nutjobs. Monsters can’t be seen, but what if Angels and Demons are once again made to intervene in our world? As someone who’s formed a contract with a Demon...what do you think?" They inquired with a knowing smirk.
Huh? Impossible...
"H-how do you-...? There’s no way, I haven’t told anyone about that...," I stuttered in shock.
"Heh, I’m aware. You’ve tried so hard to keep it a secret that even in the face of a Vampire, you were hesitant to make use of that contract. After all...interacting with the denizens of Hell is taboo. Anyway, the reason why I asked you here is simple...join me, won’t you?" They stated bluntly and briefly.
They want me to join them? Should I? Unfortunately, my mind was too preoccupied with trying to figure out how they found out about my secret. How do they know? There’s no way they could have found out, I haven’t told a single soul.
I...what do I do? Damn it...damn it, I don’t have a choice but to do as they say. Their Aura seems to be at a similar level to mine, or maybe a tiny bit higher, and yet...something told me that this person was way out of my league...
