Chapter 63: Chapter 62 - Revenge

Point-of-View: Adelmira Hartley frёewebηovel.cѳm

———————————————————————————

Today’s the day...I’m as ready as I can possibly be, so it’ll all come down to how well I can keep my cool in the moment. I’d just finished eating and getting changed, picking out baggy clothing to wear. I’d put on a loose-fitting purple hoodie and a wide black skirt that went past my knees.

"Ready to go?" Inquired X, as she checked the time on her phone.

"Yeah, I am," I replied with a nod, before she led me out of my cell and shut the door.

She then twisted the handle up before guiding me through the corridor and up the stairs...huh, so that must be how these doors are locked. Does that mean my door is unlocked whenever she’s inside the cell? Yeah, has to be.

That information is probably of little use right now, but I’ll keep it at the back of my mind, it could come in handy later on.

Anyway, X led me to a room on one of the upper floors of the facility, before opening the door and heading inside. I took in a deep breath, before following after her, steeling myself.

"It’s about time. Come on, let’s get this over with, shall we?" Remarked Trevor, as X shut the door.

I stiffened as I saw the man who killed my mom, for the first time since that day, before clenching my fists with determination...he’ll be the one to die today, I’ll make sure of it. There were a couple of others in here besides him and Trevor too, they must be here to stop the fight if it looks like I’m going to die.

"Hey, this is bullshit! I don’t wanna die over something like this! All I did was kill some old hag, who was a witness, come on, give me a break!" He complained with a frown.

Bastard...

"Put up with it, all you need to do is not die...simple enough, yes?" Responded Trevor with a tone of indifference.

"B-but, I-...!"

"Enough, already. Alright, then, the rest of us will head up to the viewing booth and watch. We’ll interfere if and when necessary. Start the fight when I drop this water balloon and it hits the floor," Instructed Trevor, before he and the others, including X, heading up a flight of stairs leading up to a balcony with a protective ledge...that must be made of the same stuff that the walls of my holding cell are made of.

"Damn it...I’m warning you, you’re making a mistake here, you little brat!" Snapped the man, as he glared at me.

"I’ve got nothing to say to you...so just shut up and die," I responded icily, as I braced myself and prepared to use the technique I’d been working on.

"Wha-...cocky little bitch! Just you wait, I’ll kill you, just like I did to your mother!" He snarled viciously.

I felt a seething rage well up inside me, but I bit the inside of my lower lip to force myself to push it down...if I lose my cool, I won’t stand a chance. However, I am not going to play fair...

"Okay, I’m dropping the water balloon...you may begin the moment it hits the floor!" Stated Trevor in a loud, clear voice, before dropping it.

My target’s focus was on the falling water balloon, his body tensed as he waited for it to crash down onto the floor...this is my chance. Should I unleash my Aura to catch him off-guard?

No, if anything, that might give him time to react. No need to overthink this, I need to just go for it. I formed and wrapped water around my right index finger, before extending it out like a funnel.

The hollow space inside it was extremely narrow, about the width of a pin, and the surface tension was manipulated in order to maintain this shape. A narrow cylinder of water around my finger, plus a couple of inches over it...as the water balloon began to close in on the floor, I swung my right hand across while simultaneously shooting out a water blast from my fingertip...and forcing it out through the pinprick-narrow funnel.

In the blink of an eye, I fired out a water attack so fast and narrow that it was like an invisible blade, the immense pressure generated by being forced through the narrow funnel resulting in an unreal level of penetrative power.

It was like a rapid beam of water, and with the added momentum of me whipping my hand across, my attack sliced off my enemy’s legs in the blink of an eye with the utmost ease.

"H-huh...?" He blurted out in bewildered shock, as he found himself falling, as the upper part of his legs slid off and fell onto the floor with a loud thud, before his legs fell too, blood pouring out of them as they crashed down with a meaty splat. freewēbnoveℓ.com

Wow...that worked perfectly. It’s usually not possible to generate that much pressure in an Aqua Skill attack, and while there are techniques that can pierce through someone, those aren’t all that difficult to dodge...they’re fast and penetrative, but easy to see coming, like a water drill kind of attack.

Without a proper opening, it can be hard to land attacks like that. So what I needed was such overwhelming momentum that, even if you did see it coming, you couldn’t react in time to avoid it.

The water funnel around my finger is the most important part of this technique...if I don’t perfectly maintain its shape when forcing jets of water through it, the speed of the attack will waver significantly.

But if I get it right, then as I’ve just witnessed...I can slice through a person’s body with nothing but a simple wave of my hand. It’s almost frightening how easy that was. But I’m not done yet. Far from it...

"Y-you fucking cunt, h-how dare you-...ahhhh!!!!" He began as he raised a hand with a wind attack charged up, before howling in agony as I swung my hand up, firing out another high-pressure water beam...and slicing his left arm off, before he could even start to fire his attack.

My body felt hot, my heart pounding so loudly that it felt like it was reverberating throughout my entire body, shaking my bones...a bead of sweat ran down the side of my face as I then sliced off his other arm, the pace of my breathing starting to quicken.

Adrenaline was pumping through my body, it felt like my head was throbbing and about to explode, the field of my vision seeming to sharpen and blur at the same time, while I could hear a slight ringing in my ears.

He was screaming and howlingin pain and agony, so loudly that it was echoing across the room, and yet, it felt like I was standing in the midst of pindrop silence, the ringing in my ears growing louder and louder.

And then, with yet another wave of my hand...I decapitated him, his screams finally ceasing. And the moment his head hit the floor, the ringing in my ears stopped. And all of a sudden, I felt weak. I let out a sharp gasp before inhaling deeply, my chest tightening as my gaze was fixated on the growing puddle of blood ahead of me.

The man I’d wanted to kill was laying in the midst of it in pieces, his severed head seeming to be staring at me lifelessly. I felt a shudder run down my spine as my body broke out into a cold sweat, my vision blurring as I stumbled back.

I-I don’t get it...I wanted to kill him, and I don’t regret killing him, but...seeing his chopped up body and realizing that I’d just killed someone, it...it made me feel nauseous.

I...I got what I wanted, I avenged my mother, I killed her murderer, just like I promised I would...so, then, why don’t I feel any better...?

Point-of-View: X

———————————————————————————

H-holy shit...that was freaking intense as hell, wow! What did she do? What was that technique she used? Based on the shocked expressions on Trevor and the others, it’s probably not something that was included in the book of Aqua Skill techniques she was given.

"Oh, looks like she’s falling apart...she must have been insanely focused all this time, and now that she succeeded, that focus abruptly dissipated," I guessed, as I began heading down the stairs.

"Possibly, but I think the fact that this is the first time that she’s killed someone is a big part of this breakdown," Remarked Trevor, as he followed after me.

"Still, that technique she used, it doesn’t make sense. It’s not possible to fire an attack of that level of intensity," Frowned one of the others.

"Yeah, I thought these Outliers only have higher Aura capacities and maximum outputs than us, don’t tell me that they’re capable of using attacks that are physically impossible for normal Meta-Humans like us?" Chimed in another.

Whatever the case may be, that was seriously amazing...she’s got some real potential, more than I thought. Alright, then, Miraliz...I wasn’t a hundred percent convinced before, but now, I’m with you, kid. Your plan to escape Eden’s clutches...I’ve got your back with that.

And I can’t wait to see where this goes, now that she’s shattered everyone’s expectations with such ease...I’ve got a strong feeling that this moment is going to end up being quite the turning point...
