Chapter 244: Chapter 243 - Invasion(Part 9)

Point-of-View: Luna Castillo/Astra

———————————————————————————

"It is futile, give up and accept your fate!" Called out the Demon of Sin, sounding amused.

"Go fuck yourself, dipshit!" I shot back, as I raced across the rooftops, doing my best to ignore the throbbing pain of my injuries.

Damn it, I’m not able to increase the distance between me and them...they’re just toying with me, if they really wanted to catch up to me, they could do it with ease, especially with me so badly weakened.

Fuck! If I’m going down, then I’m taking them with me, just like that last Demon! I blasted out a couple of fireballs behind me towards them as I shot forward, but they easily batted away my attacks and continued flying after me. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

The moment they get bored, they can easily just pick up their speed, catch up and then kill me. I have to do something before they get tired of this. But what can I do? My attacks are useless against them, I doubt I’d inflict much damage even if I unleashed my maximum output.

And that’s when I saw it, the perfect spot to make my counterattack...I leapt off the rooftop I was on, blasting out flames from the bottom of my feet to keep myself from falling too fast, as the Demons swooped down after me.

One of them landed in front of me, as the other landed behind me...looks like I’m done running, they won’t let me get away no matter how much I want to. But that’s fine...I accept that I’m gonna die, but they’re sorely mistaken if they think they can kill me without any trouble.

"There is nowhere left to run now, human. But you should feel honored...your life will be brought to an end by me, the Demon Sin of Envy, Leviathan," Smirked the Demon of Sin.

"And I am one of the Thirteen Fiends, Fiend Lambda, the Hyena of Auschwitz Irma," Added the other Demon.

I guess that must be the rank below Demon of Sin, huh? Well, it doesn’t matter...

"Sorry, but I’d rather not be killed by the likes of you...and you should really be more aware of your surroundings," I smirked, as I made up my resolve and formed flames in each hand.

"Hm? You must be delusional, you are not getting out of this alive. I would say that I envy your optimism, however...this is nothing more that stupidity," Scoffed Leviathan in response, taking a step towards me.

"You know, what? Right back at you," I laughed, as I unleashed my maximum output continuously, rapidly eating through my Aura.

When I jumped off that rooftop earlier, it was because I spotted this very place...a gas station. I probably won’t live to see the result of this, but...I can’t think of a better way to go out than this, in a fucking blaze of glory!

As I unleashed my flames, the sheer heat causing the Demons to back away slightly...I suddenly felt an immense force burst out, followed by a deafening explosion, right before everything went dark as I briefly felt a burning sensation envelop my body...

What the...!? I felt myself getting sent flying back with immense force before I came to a halt as a crashed onto the side of a building, my body severely burnt with a few spots turned to ash.

Impossible...how could a human generate this much heat? No, that is not what happened...the flames she produced were not powerful enough to cause this much damage, she likely used those flames to trigger an explosion.

She did say something about being more aware of my surroundings...I see now, that area she landed in must be abundant in some sort of flammable substance. I let out a sigh as I dusted myself off and healed my injuries.

Multiple explosions like that in quick succession would likely be enough to kill me...but just one such explosion is no real threat to me. I cannot deny though, that that was quite immensely painful.

Now, then...what of Fiend Lambda? I walked over towards the area that the explosion had taken place, which was burning intensely with a dark plume of smoke rising up from the flames, an unpleasant odor heavy in the air.

"Oh, my," I remarked, as I caught sight of her.

She was on her knees, wheezing in pain, the left half of her torso turned to ash. And she was not healing...I soon noticed why. Her core was partially exposed, with the visible part of it severely damaged.

Hm, that amount of damage cannot be recovered from. Even a Demon of Sin would be finished if they sustained such immense damage to their core. Yes, there is no doubt about it...she is on the verge of death, with no way of stopping it...

"This...this cannot be...," She gasped, as her body began to disintegrate.

"I must say, this is quite the pathetic way to die. I certainly do not envy your current position, Lambda," I replied, as I gave her a pat on her shoulder, right before it turned to ash.

Lord Satan will not be pleased with this...we have already lost several of the Thirteen Fiends in this battle. Well, I suppose it is of little consequence. Their ranks have been constantly changing for centuries, the casualties of this war can easily be replaced afterwards...

"No answer, huh? Damn it. Well, thanks anyway for letting me borrow your phone, sir," I sighed, as I handed back the phone.

Having killed all the Devils here, I decided to try and contact Harmony, so I borrowed a phone from one of the onlookers. But I got no answer, the call kept ringing till it went to voicemail. It was frustrating, especially since it took a lot of effort to remember the number off the top of my head.

So, now what? With my phone dead, I don’t have any money on me, otherwise I could just pay with an app on my phone. No, even if I could, there wouldn’t be any point in, like, buying a plane ticket or something.

After all, a flight takes several hours depending on the destination, and that’s time I can’t afford to waste right now. I suppose I have no choice but to keep fighting over here until it’s all over.

I may have dealt with all the Devils in the area, but it could only be a matter of time before reinforcements show up. It won’t be pretty if that happens, especially if Demons show up instead of Devils.

Even with my ability to weaken them, they’re still formidable opponents, particularly the Demons of Sin, of course. Well, there’s only seven of them, so the chances of one of them showing up here is probably pretty slim. Right?

At least it looks like the surviving people are starting to clear out of this area...some of them had tried to help with killing the Devils, but they weren’t much help.

At best, they were inflicting minor damage, and at worst, they were making things harder for me by getting in my way. I mean, I appreciate the effort and all, but if you don’t have the skills to actually help, you’re better off just staying out of the way.

Not that I can say that out loud to a bunch of strangers. I’m way too introverted for that. I have no trouble speaking my mind to people whom I’m comfortable with, but it’s a different story with complete strangers.

Hm? I grimaced as I spotted another large breach appear in the air...tch, that was faster than I thought, they’re already sending in reinforcements. Sure enough, several Devils flew out of the breach, before I clenched my fists warily as Demons followed them out of it.

And then, a familiar face appeared, bringing up the rear of the reinforcements, the breach closing as he flew out of it. Really didn’t want to see this piece of shit again, seeing him makes me sick to my stomach...

"I really wish I’d been able to kill you last time, I was so close," I sighed wistfully, as several Devils and Demons surrounded me, while he swooped down and landed a few meters in front of me.

"And I shall take great pleasure in killing you, human. Last time, I was unaware of what you were capable of, but I will not make the same mistake again. You will die a painful, excruciating death before you can even begin to weaken me," He declared with a smirk.

"The Demon Sin of Lust, Asmodeus...I should tell you, you’re already too late for that. Tell me...can you feel it?" I inquired with a raised eyebrow, as I filled the area with my light energy...
