Chapter 233: Chapter 232 - Deity Training(Part 1)

"Hey, come on, could you at least pretend to be paying attention?" I sighed in exasperation.
"Give me a minute, I am almost done...," Void muttered in response, as he tried to solve a puzzle in the book we’d brought.
"You really shouldn’t be zoning out, or you just might regret it!" Exclaimed Petra, as she swung her fist while using Compression to close the gap between her fist and the back of his head.
Without moving a muscle, he teleported about a meter to his left, engrossed in the puzzle.
"If you were faster, I would not be so relaxed. And besides, yelling out like that loses your only real advantage, the element of surprise," He pointed out objectively.
"He’s got a point, you might have been able to hit him if it wasn’t for that," I sighed wryly.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it," She grumbled with a huff.
"Actually, no, keeping silent would not have made much of a difference. I can sense distortions in space quite easily, and I also have a detection barrier around myself, so I can sense any physical attacks once they are within the range of my detection," He shrugged in response.
"This’d be a lot more effective training if you taught us all these useful techniques, you know," I mused in exasperation.
"Maybe later. For now, you need to get much stronger and faster physically before working on your powers. Even the largest arsenal of techniques will be useless if you are too slow to keep up with a Demon. Additionally, there is the matter of compatibility with each particular technique.
Until you are able to at least keep up with me, I will make no changes to how I am training you. Now that that traitorous bastard is involved, I will not cut any corners...the two of you will be strong enough to kill him by the time I am finished with you," He stated with a grimace.
Yeah, he kinda lost it in a fit of rage when the Rival Space Deity, Laplace showed up out of the blue on day one and provoked him. He informed us that we wouldn’t be able to contact Neo anytime soon, before leaving.
Void did try to stop him with his own Space Skill powers, and initially did manage to keep him here, but Laplace managed to give him the slip and escaped in the end.
After that, Void became a hell of a lot more serious about training us, and has been kind of a taskmaster. And since he can’t heal us or anything, we’re not exactly in the best of shape at this point.
We’re covered in bruises, scratches and other external wounds, along with a few fractures and Petra’s left wrist is broken. It was pretty swollen, that swelling has gone down a bit, but she can’t use her left hand at all without ending up in agonizing pain.
However, despite how extreme the training has been, I can’t deny that it has been effective...my reaction time has improved immensely, my reflexes are now beyond what I thought was possible, and I’m a lot stronger and faster than I was before.
The same goes for Petra, her physical state has significantly improved as well. However, as for our mastery over the Space Skill, that’s barely improved at all, other than when it comes to activation speed...like he said, he’s only been training us physically, he hasn’t given us so much as a hint of advice about our powers.
And despite our drastic physical improvement, it takes all that we have just to keep evading his attacks, and even that’s just barely, while he’s clearly holding back a lot.
So far, we haven’t been able to land so much as a single attack on him. Not gonna lie, it’s getting really frustrating, especially since he isn’t even anywhere close to going all out.
I mean, he’s fighting us kinda seriously, but he’s holding back on any attacks that could be lethal, in an effort to avoid killing us. Otherwise, at this point, we’d be long dead.
We have to force him to attack us without holding anything back, and then be able to react and counter his attacks in response...as things stand now, we’re a long way from being able to pull that off...

"Now’s your chance, go for it!" Exclaimed X, as she got Bastet within the range of her Nullification.
"Got it, leave it to me!" I responded as I fired out my Piercing Water Beam at the Deity.
He swiftly sprang away to evade it, but my attack nicked the side of his arm. He grimaced as I drew out a trickle of blood, before the wound closed up almost instantly.
"What a troublesome technique, the speed of the attack is not to be underestimated. However, as it shoots in a straight line, it is inadequate when used at a distance...you would be far better served using it at a much closer range," He remarked dryly, as he shook off the blood that had trickled onto his fur.
"Oh, yeah? Well, in that case...be careful what you wish for!" I exclaimed, as I blasted out jets of water to shoot myself towards him, forming a water blade along my left palm as I closed in on him rapidly.
He swiftly ducked as I slashed at his head, before driving his palm up towards my midsection. I quickly formed a sheet of ice with sharp spikes on my stomach, and as he halted his hand before it could hit the spikes, I blasted out water from my right heel to swing my leg in a rapid kick. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
My leg shot up and then swung down in a fluid arc towards his shoulder as I switched from shooting water from my heel to doing so from the tips of my toes, my heel plummeting down towards his shoulder like a hammer.
He quickly formed a barrier wall above his shoulder, and as my heel slammed onto it and cracks spread out from the point of impact, I sharply compressed and increased the momentum of the water shooting out from the tips of my toes.
In the next instant, I broke through his barrier right as he sprang back, my heel slamming onto the ground with immense force and hammering into it, half my foot getting embedded in the ground as a small shockwave burst out upon impact, bits of dirt and grass flying up.
And as he sprang back, X zipped across behind him silently and flung a dagger at his back from just a few meters away. Right as it closed in on him, I fired out another Piercing Water Beam at his chest, before he batted away the dagger with his tail and took a couple of swift steps across to his left.
As he stepped off to the side, my attack missed him, my eyes widening in alarm as it shot towards X. She narrowly evaded it by quickly getting low, the beam zipping past the top of her head and just barely missing drilling a hole through it.
"S-sorry about that, are you okay!?" I called out to her.
"Yeah, I’m good...that was close," She let out a strained sigh of relief.
"Never give your opponent the opportunity to use your attacks against an ally. You were too eager to exploit the opening, you should have shuffled across a bit and then fired it at an angle that would have missed her in the event that I dodged it...which, of course, I did," Remarked Bastet dryly.
I can’t deny that his advice is helpful and all, but he always gives advice in such a high and mighty time, it’s so annoying. It does motivate me to get stronger so that I can kick his ass though, so I guess it’s effective.
"That was at least half my fault as well though, I would’ve been fine if I kept calm and activated Nullification," Sighed X apologetically.
In order to improve her physical state more efficiently, she’s been using Nullification sparingly instead of keeping it active the whole time. She’s trying not to become too overly reliant on it, and it’s been effective.
She’s a lot stronger and faster than I am...I figured I’d be able to catch up to her once we began training, since I have a lot more room for improvement than she does, but it hasn’t worked out like that.
No, she’s been able to maintain the gap between our respective physical abilities, and she’s gotten a lot closer to landing serious attacks on Bastet than I have.
Well, I’m not giving up, there’s nothing to do but keep trying my hardest. Yeah, I’m just getting started here...
