Chapter 175: Chapter 174 - Desert Battle(Part 3)

Point-of-View: Neo Cronje

———————————————————————————

"Pitiful, is that all that you are capable of?" Remarked Dracula, looking bored.

"Damn it, he’s just toying with us," Muttered Richard, as he got back on his feet with a grimace.

As we’d approached Dracula, he stood still and has been easily blocking any and all attacks we’ve thrown at him. We’ve kept our distance and used ranged attacks, but they’ve been painfully ineffective.

Richard just fired a lava projectile at him, but Dracula deflected it right back towards him, which Richard just barely evaded.

"If you have no more tricks to throw at me, I suppose it is my turn to attack now, yes?" Suggested Dracula, as he cracked his knuckles.

"No, that’s okay, you don’t have to trouble yourself," Spoke up Maeve warily.

"Yeah, keep standing there and let us continue try to kill you," I added dryly, as I opened a portal on either side of him and burst out water from the bottom of the sea.

He swiftly raised his palms in response and formed shields using his blood, a shockwave bursting out as the intense blasts of water slammed onto his blood shields, causing us to stumble back, before he suddenly shot towards me, closing in on my in an instant.

"That was quite powerful...but really, far too slow," He stated, as he swung his claws at my neck.

I just barely managed to open a portal by my neck before he could slice through it, before dropping into another portal beneath my feet.

But before I could fall through it, he grabbed my hair and yanked me out with his right hand, drawing back his left arm as his lifted me up, his claws poised to strike me through the gut.

He suddenly let go and took a step back as Maeve fired out a water slash at him, before she zipped towards him at her top speed, using her Physical Skill to boost her speed significantly.

As she closed in on him, she swirled flames around her fists and unleashed a rapid barrage of punches at him, which he effortlessly blocked with his palms, the burns she inflicted healing almost as soon as they appeared.

Richard then sprang up behind him with an intense ball of lava swirling between his hands, before firing it at near point blank range.

Before it could hit, a shield of blood formed behind Dracula’s back, blocking it, the ball of lava hitting it and getting split into several pieces, Richard grimacing in pain as a few drops hit him and left severe burns on his skin.

Richard and Maeve then quickly jumped away, right as I opened up a large portal above Dracula, bursting out more high pressure water.

"That is getting rather repetitive," Scoffed Dracula, as he formed a blood shield above himself, before swiftly jumping as I opened a portal beneath his feet.

He suddenly vanished from sight, a chill running down my spine as I realized he was behind me. I quickly spun around and sprang back while crossing my arms defensively, opening a portal behind myself as he slashed at me, deeply gashing my right forearm as I went into the portal and emerged several meters away, grimacing as blood gushed out of the wound he’d inflicted.

Maeve then sprang up to his right as she wrapped a water whip around his waist while forming swirling flames and wind around her fist, while Richard leapt up to his left with another lava projectile.

"Eat this!" Exclaimed Maeve, as she drove her fist towards him.

"Decent speed and strength...but it’s still inadequate," Remarked Dracula calmly, as he grabbed her wrist and swung her around, slamming her back onto Richard’s side and sending them both flying across and crashing into the sand, collapsing in a heap.

"Ow...," Groaned Richard, as they got back on their feet.

"I’ve grown tired of this child’s play. Time to die," Declared Dracula, as he formed a massive lightning bolt and fired it out at them rapidly.

As it zipped towards them with a vicious spark and crackle, I quickly opened up a portal as fast as I could, but I couldn’t expand it enough in time, my portal only swallowing up a small amount of the blast, as Maeve quickly formed a water wall as Richard simultaneously formed a large block of earth.

Their shields managed to absorb most of the blast, but no all of it, letting out cries of pain at they got zapped by the lightning. They were still conscious, but they could barely move thanks to the shock.

Damn it, he’s way too fast and powerful-...no, I’m just too slow. At this rate, he’ll kill us without even breaking a sweat...what can I do!? I have to move faster, and open my portals faster-...wait, if I just make them smaller...

As Dracula shot towards them, I reached out into a small portal leading into a pocket dimension I used to store stuff, swiftly drew out a sword and swung it across as I opened a narrow, slit-like portal, swinging the blade into the portal while simultaneously opening a similar connected portal in front of Dracula as he closed in on them.

His eyes widened as he abruptly halted and sprang back, the tip of the blade slicing a couple of inches through his neck. As he backed away, he touched at his neck with a raised eyebrow as he stared at the blood I’d drawn, the injury healing almost instantly.

"Ah, now that wasn’t a half-bad move...it is now clear that you do not utilize this portal ability to it’s fullest. I see, victory has so often come so easily for you when using it that you have not bothered to improve on your use of it," He mused with an intrigued look on his face.

Huh...I think he may be on to something there, he’s right...if I survive this, I’ll have some training to do. But for right now, I’m gonna take advantage of the fact that he’s standing still...

"I appreciate the advice...I’d appreciate it even more if you’d just roll over and die, old man," I responded wryly, as I plunged the blade straight into the ground, opening a connected portal inside his body, the blade bursting out through his chest.

"How amusing...but ultimately futile," Scoffed Dracula, as he grabbed the blade and snapped it in half, wiping away the trickle of blood that had dripped out the corner of his mouth.

"How’s this for futile!?" Snapped Maeve, as she shakily got back on her feet and fired out eight water whips at him.

He began to form a blood shield in front of himself to block it, before an idea hit me like lightning and I steeled my focus, opening small portals in front of the ends of each of eight water whips, letting them emerge from connected portals all around Dracula.

They zipped out and wrapped around his limbs and torso, a look of slight surprise and amusement on Dracula’s face as he let out a slight chuckle, shifting his gaze towards me with a smirk as he began to break free from the restraints.

"Richard, use Flame Sphere, now!" I yelled out, as two of the water whips snapped.

"Huh? Uh, okay!" He responded uncertainly, before raising his hands, flames sprouting all around Dracula and swirling rapidly as they formed a thick, flaming sphere around him. freeweɓnøvel.com

He still looks unbothered and calm...let’s see if I can’t induce some panic on that face of his, shall we!? I swiftly glanced around the area...okay, good, no one else is too close by to this spot.

I then gritted my teeth as I concentrated, forming a massive portal around one of the pyramids, swallowing it up as fast as I could while opening a connected portal several meters above the flaming sphere that was holding Dracula in.

As my portal swallowed up more than half the height of the pyramid, I swiftly closed it, slicing off most of the top half of the ancient structure, letting it drop out through the connected portal.

"Woah, holy shit...," Muttered Maeve, wide-eyed.

As the flaming sphere suddenly burst out as several, countless streaks of blood whipped out and dissipated it, I quickly opened up portals beneath myself and the other two, sending all of us dozens of meters away and out of the way.

"What is this shadow-...oh. Oh, shit," Remarked Dracula, his eyes widening in alarm as he spotted what was dropping down towards him.

I don’t care how fast he is...it’s way too late to outrun that, and even with his powers, he can’t destroy it before it crashes down onto him.

He zipped away rapidly in alarm, but like I said, it was already way too late...and he’s finally panicked, which means...I can do this!

As he began to transform into a bat to fly away, he let out a surprised yell as I opened a portal beneath his feet and made it rise to swallow him up before he could finishing transforming, bringing him back directly under the tip of the pyramid using a connected portal.

The large structure slammed onto his half-transformed body and the ground with immense force, crashing down with a devastating impact and sending a powerful shockwave bursting out all across the battlefield.

A dense cloud of sand burst out upon impact and blowing towards us with a strong wind, I quickly opened a portal in front of us to keep us from getting blown away by the sheer force of the shockwave.

"Maybe you should’ve just done that from the start," Remarked Richard wryly, as the impact faded, dusting off the sand on his clothes.

"Yeah, well...I didn’t think of it till now," I responded sheepishly.

"Do you think that got him?" Inquired Maeve warily, as she rubbed her left eye, likely having gotten some sand in it.

"No, he’s almost definitely not dead...but that said, he’s probably going to be trapped under there for a while, at least. I hope," I surmised, as the dust began to clear.

Most of the fighting has come to a halt, everyone was staring at the broken pyramid laying on the sand in disbelief...but it won’t be long before the fighting resumes again.

We should probably-...hm? What’s that? There’s something emerging from the bottom half of the pyramid I cut.

Suddenly, a wave of power burst out from the figure, Maeve and Richard collapsing onto their knees with shocked expressions on their faces. Could it be...Aura pressure? It’s so...it’s so immense. This, uh...this could be trouble. What...what exactly is that thing...?
