Chapter 122: Chapter 121 - Jinxed

Damn it...we got here too late. Everyone’s already dead.
It’s the 6th of July, and I had just arrived at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, where an international tournament or something was taking place. During the live broadcast of a match, a Fallen Angel, of all things, suddenly appeared through a portal and began massacring everyone.
That had been no more than ten minutes ago. By the time we realized what was happening, and Neo showed up to take me to the stadium, there was already an Anti-Teleportation Field in place around the stadium, so we couldn’t jump right in.
He got us as close as possible and we covered the rest of the distance by foot...but by the time we reached the stadium, it was already too late.
Every single person that had been inside the stadium was dead. And the Fallen Angel was long gone. Chaos...how the hell did they get a Fallen Angel on their side!? And looking at the clips and screenshots of the live broadcast that were uploaded online, the Fallen Angel’s appearance matched the description of a certain Demon of Sin...
"If the likeness isn’t just a coincidence, and that really was Lucifer, the Demon of the Sin of Pride, then we’re in real trouble. Dracula is bad enough, but if Chaos have allied with Demons, let alone Demons of Sin, then they really could take us down at any time. They know where our bases are, thanks to all the double agents, so it may very well be a case of when, not if," Remarked Neo grimly.
"Tch, I don’t like this at all. The Chaos faction is really pissing me off...and since we don’t know which of our members are secretly on their side, we can’t exactly move out of our bases. First, where would we even move to? And second, the traitors can easily just reveal our new locations to Chaos...grr, we’re stuck in a deadlock!" I snapped in frustration.
"Yeah, we are...alright, let’s head back, there’s no sense in hanging around here," He sighed, as he opened a portal and gestured to me to enter.
I let out an irritated mutter as I stormed through the portal, feeling seriously pissed off. Those damn bastards...I wanna kill ’em. Of course, the ideal outcome would be for Chaos and Eden to kill each other off, but Chaos is almost completely in control of this whole situation.
Their location is unknown, their members are unknown, and we never know what they’re going to do next until they’ve already started doing it.
And since they’ve got a portal user too, they can mask who the traitors are, they can easily just pick up the traitors from the bases they’re at, and then drop them back off once they’re done.
"Hey, can’t we keep track of everyone’s locations using their phones? Besides the Meta-Humans who aren’t combatants and mostly live pretty normal lives, everyone who lives in the bases or are generally pretty active when it comes to missions all have the same custom built phones, right? The same ones we gave the Outliers?" I suggested, as we re-emerged through the portal into a base in Wales.
"Oh, I already suggested that. But there’s too many problems with that method...for instance, using a VPN changes the location, and those are pretty commonly used when someone wants to watch a video or play a game that isn’t available in their country, so simply using a VPN isn’t enough proof that someone’s a traitor.
Another issue is that the traitors can easily just leave their phones behind when they get portaled out. We do have Anti-Teleportation Fields and Detection Fields active around all our bases, there’s not much else we can do...although, I am concerned about whether any of the Space Skill users I’ve assigned to maintain those barriers might be traitors too, because that would make those measures useless," He replied with a strained sigh, looking stressed out.
"Is there really nothing more we can do? Maybe we could use Dark Skill techniques as a lie detector type thing?"
Yeah, that’s a weak suggestion, I already know that...
"That might work on paper, but in reality, that’s probably a lot tougher to pull off than it sounds. First off, those techniques aren’t very effective on Meta-Humans, resisting won’t be too difficult. Those with Dark Skills will have an even stronger resistance to that, and those with Light Skills can easily just nullify it. Sure, we could say that those who resist are traitors, but it’s not that difficult to resist without making it obvious," He pointed out objectively.
"Then...there really is nothing more we can do about this, is there?" I grimaced as I clenched my fists.
"Nothing that I can think of, anyway. But we’ve got other issues to worry about for now...I doubt this was the last we’re going to see of that Fallen Angel. We need to be ready to respond the instant he shows up next...," Surmised Neo grimly...

"Uh, guys...you might wanna see this!" Came Inoka’s voice from outside my RV, before I heard a quick rap on my door, and more knocks rang out from further away, presumably him tapping on the others’ doors too.
It’s past 10 PM already, I was about to go to sleep in a little while, what does he want? I reluctantly stood up and headed for the door, opening it and stepping out, feeling a bit irritated, right as the others poked their heads out of their RVs.
Dieter looks like he actually had gone to sleep and had been woken up just now. I swear, whatever this is, it better be worth it. Otherwise, I’m blasting him in the face.
"What is it!? Do you have any idea how late it is?" I grumbled as I shut my door and jumped down onto the grass.
"Yeah, I know, but seriously, this is big. So, I was watching a cricket match since there’s a tournament going on. I wasn’t actually that interested since I’m not really into the teams involved in today’s match, but I figured I might as well since I had nothing else to do, and-."
"Please just get to the point already," Interrupted Dieter with a drowsy sigh.
"I was getting there. Anyway, about halfway through the first half of the match, a portal opened and a guy with black wings and a black halo showed up, I think he was a Fallen Angel. And, well, he started killing everyone in sight, before the broadcast abruptly cut off. Screenshots and clips are all over social media though, rapidly going viral. Take a look," He remarked, as we gathered around and he showed us his screen.
Woah...
"Brutal...," Muttered Dieter wide-eyed, as Inoka played one of the clips.
The presumed Fallen Angel was moving so fast that the clips were kinda blurry, but what was clear to see was the huge amounts of blood bursting out all over the stadium, along with severed body parts flying about...
"Damn, he’s really tearing them apart, huh? Hey, look at this screenshot...he’s coming out through a portal," Suddenly spoke up Zoraiz, who was scrolling on his own phone. freēwebnovel.com
"Looks like Dracula isn’t the only non-Meta-Human being in Chaos," I grimaced in response, before adding, "Hey, Aurora, what do you think? Based on these clips, how does this guy compare to Dracula?"
"I can’t tell, to be honest...it’s hard to gauge through these blurry videos," She responded uncertainly.
"Oh, I get it, it’s like how you can’t tell how good or bad food tastes just by looking at a picture of it," Replied Inoka in comparison.
"Uh...sure, I guess."
"So, Chaos have now got a Vampire and a Fallen Angel on their side...I’m willing to bet that they’ve got more unknown entities up their sleeve," Sighed Zoraiz warily.
"I really don’t like the sound of that," I groaned in exasperation.
"Yeah, me neither...hey, maybe we should summon a Demon too, to even the odds," Suggested Inoka jokingly.
"If Beelzebub is anything to go by, then we most definitely shouldn’t," Remarked Aurora with a sour look on her face.
"True, that guy was infuriating. Well, since this guy’s a Fallen Angel, then he’s not a Demon of Sin, right? So, hopefully, he’s not that big a deal...for you, Aurora," Responded Inoka wryly.
"Uh, actually, I asked Kiyana about the Demons of Sin after you guys told us about that mission. And she said that a couple of them are Fallen Angels...apparently, Fallen Angels count as Demons. Oh, she also said that Satan is a Fallen Angel too. I think she said that the two Fallen Angels among the Demons of Sin are called Lucifer and, uh...Belial? Yeah, I think that was it," I recalled.
"Oh...well, uh, what are the chances that the Fallen Angel in these clips is one of those two? Pretty slim, I bet," He laughed nervously in response.
"Careful, you’re gonna jinx it," Quipped Zoraiz dryly.
"I can’t jinx what’s already happened, you know...if he does turn out to be a Demon of Sin, it’ll be a coincidence, not a jinx!" Protested Inoka immediately.
"Yeah, uh, I really don’t think it matters either way," Chimed in Dieter in exasperation.
"Well, let’s just hope that he doesn’t show up anywhere nearby and force us to get involved against him," Mused Zoraiz hopefully.
"Yeah, see, now that’s how you jinx something. If we do end up having to fight against him for some reason, it’s totally gonna be your fault," Huffed Inoka smugly.
"I’m not superstitious, so I’m not worried," Shrugged Zoraiz in response.
"Woah, now that’s an even bigger jinx!"
These idiots...they’re starting to make me feel worried now too...
