Chapter 32: I Want You

"Since the establishment of this harem, I don’t remember having to deal with a few in such quick succession."

Lynsandra dragged her feet back to her room, massaging her nape. Who would’ve thought it could be exhausting too? But as she turned into the hallway leading to her room, her steps halted as a sense of deja vu crawled up her spine.

Her gaze lifted, eyes narrowing at the figure idling in the quiet, barely lit corridor.

Elias Hale.

Lynsandra almost rolled her eyes, but instead looked down. She raised her fist, counting off on her fingers one at a time.

I already dealt with Gary Stone... well, he’s fun and requires less thinking, she thought. August is mentally exhausting. And then, this emotional Cassian — a problem I brought upon myself.

Just thinking about it made her sigh.

Shaking her head, she composed herself and completely ignored Elias. The latter was leaning against the wall, turning his head the moment he noticed her.

"I am exhausted, Elias Hale," she hummed as she drew closer. "Not very glamorous." freēwebnovel.com

Her steps remained steady as she walked past him. But then a hand reached for her wrist and forcibly spun her around.

Lynsandra frowned as soon as he made her face him, his hand gripping her wrist between them.

"Are we crossing the line tonight?" she asked, tilting her head.

However, Elias didn’t answer. Instead, his eyes studied her face closely, even in the dimness. As if to make sure of something, he pinched her chin and turned her head to the side.

"What are you doing?" she asked flatly, brushing his hand off her chin and pulling her arm free. "Elias Hale, what is it that you want now?"

"Is that a question?" Elias arched a brow as he met her gaze, retrieving his hands and shoving them into his pockets.

Leaning forward until his face was inches from hers, his smile stretched into a wide grin.

"You," he drawled, then repeated, "I want you."

Lynsandra wore a poker face, unfazed by the distance between them. Her lips parted to say something, but she ended up closing them again. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

"Never mind," she hummed, taking a step back and turning away. "I’ll deal with you tomorrow."

Or rather, she would deal with half of the harem tomorrow since it was her last rest day before returning to work on a minimal schedule. She was hoping she would have answers by then.

But as she walked away, his question made her stop.

"Did he kiss you?" Elias tilted his head, a shadow cast over half his face.

She smirked and chuckled, looking back at him. "Was it you who sent Cassian to the pavilion?"

"Did he?" he asked, as if not hearing her. "For how long?"

The smile on her face faded, her eyes sizzling with a layer of frost.

Elias walked a step closer, wiping the corner of his mouth with his thumb. "I’m sort of... jealous, and it pisses me off."

"You are... pissing me off," she faced him squarely. "Elias Hale, I am neither your mate nor your lover. This is a harem, meaning all of you are technically my lovers whom I can openly date anytime I want, anywhere I want."

She stepped closer, her words harsher than the last. "And if I so please, I could sleep with one or multiple at once. This is not a place for cheap jealousy, and I am not someone you can control or tame."

"Pull this off again, and you are not leaving this place in one piece," she said as she took another step toward him. "Do not test me, nor act like you are here because I forced you into it. You needed me, not the other way around."

"So..." she trailed off, looking him in the eye fiercely. "...know your place."

Silence fell between them as they held each other’s gaze, neither backing down. After a breath, she clicked her tongue and walked off, massaging her nape once more as she reached her room.

As soon as she closed the door, Lynsandra closed her eyes and exhaled deeply.

Damn it.

"That’s a first."

Suddenly, Severin’s voice echoed in the room. She opened her eyes, only to see him stepping out of the darkness.

"Great," she murmured, dragging her feet and throwing herself onto the bed. Her body bounced on the mattress, and she snapped her eyes open as Severin sat on the edge of it. "Severin, as far as I remember, I didn’t call for you."

He smiled faintly. "It’s the first time I’ve heard you snap at someone like that."

"Don’t mention it," she said lazily, staring at the ceiling.

"So, you know you reacted quite... strongly?" he wondered, watching her slide her eyes toward him. "You were always so composed, and even when you are angry, you never show it."

She didn’t answer because there was no point.

"I find it interesting," he continued. "Even Cassian Clark wouldn’t make you as angry as he did."

She closed her eyes and turned onto her side, her back facing him. "Stop nagging me, Severin."

"You knew it wasn’t him who sent Cassian in there," he whispered. "Luna, do you know Elias Hale?"

"No," she whispered. "Severin, go away. I’ve dealt with four men just tonight. I am exhausted."

"I’ll stay with you tonight," he said, resting his hands on either side of him and stretching both legs out on the floor. "You wouldn’t mind, would you, Lynsandra?"

Lynsandra’s eyes cracked open slightly, sensing him behind her. Her breathing was even, exhaustion seeping into her bones — most likely because even when her body felt lighter today, it was still recovering. Hence, she needed more rest.

"Severin," she called softly. "Whether or not you watch me sleep, I will not go back on my promise."

Severin looked over his shoulder, watching her shoulders rise and fall calmly. Then, after another deep exhale, she whispered,

"I will still kill you... as promised."

The corners of his mouth curled into a smile. When he peeled his gaze away from her back, he looked toward the balcony’s glass door.

Rocking his head in satisfaction, he answered under his breath. "I know you would."
